95 degrees out, yikes.
I mowed fields for an hour with the Kubota, decided the cut was miserable, and like Toppop said, the cure was sharpening the blades.
Easy to get to, the rear lift is plenty high. Three bolts per blade, gosh using cordless impact guns makes this easier. And no junk falling in my eyes for once, glasses or not. Mowed beautifully after that, spent almost two hours mowing roadsides, cleaning up from county mowers who scalped it all and made a huge mess. I think they thought they were getting an excavating job, not a mowing job. Lot of bare dirt when they left.

so hot out a/c isn't keeping up on second floor, thought that weather was done. Showers did not appear, it's sunny and hot.
A five bar day on the Kubota tractor temp gauge, and it was.

I think Randy got lucky with the car show/cruise, 71 degrees and breezy in Ocean City MD.
sure sounds nice compared to here...

Ed, any creations to show us?
There are several videos on Youtube showing CNC machines going berserk, breaking the bit, the piece,
too big a bite taken and it all bites back. Eye opening when software doesn't get it right.
Now a skilled human operator would unlikely do that.

Now a skilled human operator would unlikely do that.

Learned to program in M Codes, and everybody was required to check their software by running it on foam blocks for just that reason.

Regrettably, though, I've broken more of my share of tools and fixtures with hand cranks, too. I guess that's how you learn to be more cautious and careful.

Sounds like they saved your blades from scalping off the high spots, Drew. Now, when it grows back, you won't be dulling your blades on what they "excavated". Hopefully the first set of hammers I used up on the flail mower did the same here. Way to expensive to put new hammers in every year...

I have my eye on a wooden indian head in the booth next to mine. Some of the multiple booths are multiple neighborhood booths so I figure there are about 250 households of rare antiques and useful stuff to go through in about an hour. There are golf carts and motorcycles and every thing you can think of. But nothing can go on sale till 8:AM. Goodwill has a huge trailer there so no-one has to take their stuff back home. Lots of downsize and estate stuff in this over 55 community.

Blue skies and the promise of 24°C today and tomorrow, very light winds, sprayed the arena yesterday with roundup and it didn't rain last night (it usually does regardless of forecast when I spray).
Big pile of sand to shift after I have been shopping, there goes my weekend.
Spring has finally arrived.

Spring has finally arrived.

just hard to wrap my head around that...

Not only are you ahead of us in the time zones, but you are six months ahead in weather.
No matter, have fun with your sand. Sounds like good seat time.

Good evening all, went in to a local shop and got a Ruger EC9s in 9mm. Like it so far but have not shot it. Cheep gun but nice from what I can tell. Then went and got more groceries. Not much else done today. You all have been very busy it seams.

Thanks for the offers of help Kyle but I new where I was going when I got up.

Drew, No new pics of any projects, shoulder still hurting so have been taking it easy.

Don, I remember Uncle Joe on Petticoat Junction had a wooden Indian and Kate kept hiding it. Hope the wife lies yours if you get it.

Have a great night all. Prayers sent. Ed

Good evening all! Nice day today, high of about 72.

Work went well, actually got done a bit earlier than expected. I was supposed to teach a very small class of only 7 people, which can be done by only one instructor. (Ratio of 8:1 max). There was a secondary instructor when I first arrived, but they asked if they could leave due to just coming off a 48 hour shift. Told them sure...only 7 students in the class. 45 minutes later, 11 students showed up..including a couple nurses from the ED...oops. Did the class alone anyway. They were all very astute, class finished up early, all passed the testing. Good day.

Don...hope your up and ready for battle over that Indian head! :cool2:

Drew, I was always amazed at the difference in cut quality with sharp blades. I have now made it a habit to at least touch up the sharpness of blades about every 2 cuts. Only takes a little amount of time investment for the better cut.

Randy, have fun in OC. In my younger years, spent a lot of time with a close friend who had a condo right on the beach. Those were the days....

Everyone have a great night, sleep well and be rested for the weekend! Prayers out for all.

Drew, I leaned my 5' shredder against a tree with the FEL. Got under it to sharpen the blades. Blades are about 1/2" thick steel and were almost totally rounded. A full radius leading edge. They didn't cut well, to say the least...There were about 5 black widow spiders under it. Raid Ant and Roach spray works surprisingly well on arachnids when directly applied. Got the blades sharpened a bit. Will try them out tomorrow. It will take almost $100 for a new pair of blades...

Got the Deere rider going again. I had leaned it over on it's right side to gain access to change the drive belt, and after 2 days, there was a bit of oil coming out of the motor. (normal)... Some oil was in the exhaust and when it would get up to temp in about 30 seconds, it would start fogging out the mosquitoes. :) Finally cleared up after a few minutes. I put resharpened blades on. Had to go buy a 14mm impact socket to get the bolts out. Almost all the pulleys underneath and on the mower deck are constructed to not be able to change out the simple 6203 sealed bearings. And they all need new bearings. Frustrating. Some are 2 piece, but brad riveted together with 6 rivets. I'm thinking of taking them to work, putting them in the mill and milling off the rivet heads, making new rivets, install new bearings and save myself probably a bunch of money. :)
