Good morning!!!!

it is a testimonial to Dupont that the refrigerated pie crusts I used to make this apple pie
still functioned after being outside the best use date by, ahem, ahem, a year and a half.
This is what happens when you live along and there are no fridge police...;)

Pie crusts were still soft and pliable, if a bit sticky, I just figured I'd cook it a little extra so that if there were
any aliens in there, well they'd be well baked. And so I did.
But first I liberally sprinkled cinnamon on top, sort of like dousing the madame with perfume...

Even if I have to scrape off the top, I know the insides will be just fine. Used half the normal sugar, butter, flour, nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon; no way that will taste bad. But I exercised caution and decided to let it cool. Gotten a few nice tongue burns not following
that advice before. Twice burned and learned.

Drew, save a slice for me. :)

Happy veterans day Dad, and all the other veterans. My grandmother insisted on calling it Armistice Day. Dad talked about it a little this morning. Boarded a ship In NY for Scotland on Dec 23, 1943 at 10 pm. He quoted all the dates. Said he saw the statue of liberty on the way out and never thought he'd see it again, but he did. He watched the Dday invasion sail out of Cardiff, and he arrived at Omaha beach a few days later.

Glad I went to see him this weekend.View attachment 578474

Please tell him thank you from my family. My Grandfather was in the 4th Infantry. He went in a few days after D-Day, was part of the team that rescued the guys at Bastogne.

The weather guessers were spot on...they said snow by this evening....started at about 5. At 7:30, had 2 inches down, still snowing. I wish I could send this out to California....

Good evening all. 46F this morning, overcast calm wind. Wind stayed light, overcast all day, and high temp of 50F. Rain forecast for tonight would not have minded if some of this rain fell in California. Chapel this morning, followed by fixing wife breakfast and cleaning up the kitchen. Worked on putting Saturday's ride into GPS. Veterans dinner tonight ran over.
Thanks to all you Veterans!!
Buppies get your arm fixed!
LS prayers for your knee.

Max has got me up a little earlier than usual with his barking. My fault for leaving the back yard gate open last night, letting the rabbits gain easy access to the garden.

BEF please say thanks to your dad - I will be forever grateful to him and the many others and will always count myself lucky that my dad survived it too.

I hope the only thing my grandchildren ever have to fight are fictitious characters on computer games. When they are older, I imagine their mum will let them read her granddad's story of his years in WW2. I won't ever be able to tell him what my granddad's thought of WW1 as they never said a word about it, though I was always fascinated as a small child by the one who had his arm cut off. He delighted in showing me how to do things you would think impossible with only one hand.

RNG, really good news, that must be as close as it gets to loosing everything. All that effort you put into clearing excess vegetation around your property sounds to have paid off. Sorry to hear your neighbour's home has gone and for so many to loose their lives.
