My tractor has 25 hp, so picking up Sequoias is not on my list. LOL

The electric unit is rated the same as the hydraulic , 2500 lbs, but the electric unit has a limiter switch to get there, the actuator is 5000 lbs.

I was able to balance one cherry tree on the bucket, it made the rear a little light so I put the land plane on and went really slow. The tractor will readily lift more than I’m comfortable moving.

Maybe my question was imprecise Randy. I wasn't asking about lift capability of the grapple. I'm addressing the force applied to keep the grapple lid closed and keep whatever your picking up .. in the grapple?

I realize your tractor can't pickup what my 100 HP tractor can but .. neither can my 55 HP tractor. Even with lighter loads you want your grapple to secure .. what you're "grappling".

My concern is that electric actuators probably can't produce the grapple jaw force you'd get from hydraulic cylinders.

Morning to all,
Drew glad to see that you are in control and making good progress.

Dang I wanted to get down in the shop this morning and get a bit of weldiing done before it got uncomfortably hot and humid,
at 8:30 it's already 78F and 68% humidity, so back in the house for a bit and have breakfast, then may do some mowing.

Hope everyone stays safe and healthy during this weather.

Don, here is what they sent me.

Wow, only three questions were asked and then they sent the coupon code for the watch and said I could not continue until the watch and my phone were paired, from the time I started to the time of the coupon code was about 30 minutes mostly reading. I wonder if they have changed something. I should be able to continue tomorrow after the watch pairing.

Good morning! Cloudy. 75˚F, heat index 75˚F. Wet Bulb Globe Temperature 290 mega swelts. (75˚F). we had one gust of wind from the hurricane 28.2 MPH. It blew the cover off the neighbors hot tub. total rain .05"

RNG my weather station is 5' from the ground. I'll have to adjust the sprinkler and angle it down a bit.

Ranger needs some recall work today - something about a plug in the brake light.

Think I may just start workin' on a pony tail, like back in my hippy/college student days.
It may come to that here too.
On the other hand I found the #3 comb for my beard trimmer. I'm thinking about that too. Buzz

Randy I was just reading that if you have any insurance besides regular medicare you will be rejected because the other insurances will not share information with the study. Do you have one of the advantage programs or something besides the original A & B?

Drew If your Dr. is concerned about a-fib this is the study for you.

They are both rated at 2500 lbs clamping force. The electric unit has a 5000 lb actuator but a limiter switch stops it at 2500 so it doesn’t break stuff on the grapple. The hydraulic unit is also rated at 2500 lbs, I’m sure it also has some kind of limiter to prevent problems. I have read some on both but I’m depending on dealer for most info. The hydraulic one would cost another thousand dollars.

Sounds impressive, Toppops...I've never heard of that technology.

As a comparison, Everything Attachments has a very nice grapple and 3rd Function kit for about $2,400, and free shipping. Not sure it fits a Massey...another $400 buys an upgraded one that might fit. I forget how much you said the electric one costs. I know you'll love one once you get it.

Good morning folks, thanks again for all the welcomes.
82 with a dew point of 68 high of 96 with a heat advisory until 8 pm again.
Not sure how you folks that think this is spring weather handle it in summer!
Did all the outside stuff early and will relax in the shade or AC today.
I can empathize on the hair cut beard situation.
I took the kitchen shears to my beard, hair is already at ponytail stage.
Beard was so long our little dog was hiding under it during thunder storms. :)
Enjoy your day all.

Luther

Installed they are about 1800 for electric and 2800 for hydraulic. I’m sure I would love it. Nice thing about electric is when I drop the bucket to mow all I do is unplug it.

75°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 84° today. Rain was already moving into the area while I was driving to work today. In fact, it was already 84° before 7am. Dropped to 81° now. Looks like a chance for rain pretty much all day.

The 3 Hs were in full force around here this weekend. Just miserable outside.

The boy called me Friday to ask if he could use the trailer to move a motorcycle. Said he was picking one up to use to take the motorcycle license test on Saturday morning. When he brought it back Saturday afternoon, he told his mother that he had a "problem" with it, but he "fixed" it. That made us both nervous. Said he had left the jack down when he pulled away from the license facility, and bent the bejeebuz out of it. He stopped at Rural King, and they had the same jack for around $40, so he replaced it. I checked it after he left, and it appears he did a decent job. So, now the Rice utility trailer has a new jack.

Spent pretty much the whole day Saturday on the mower. Six hours, as it happens. I didn't cut most of the pasture last weekend, and paid for that this weekend with slower mowing. Some of that grass got a foot or more tall. Still some bare spots, and some seriously rough spots, but it's growing in quickly in the filled area. Going to have to seriously consider a wider deck next year. 42" at a time in a wide open area like that is just too slow.

Winds picked up a bit Sunday, so I didn't get the burn pile eliminated as planned. I did, however, take the line trimmer for a walk for about an hour-and-a-half in the morning. It was quite sweaty out there. Got most of it done, and stopped when I simply couldn't see any more.

Took a nice shower after that, and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening puttering in my studio.

Condolences on your loss, David. That's never easy.

Welcome to the GM thread, Luther.

We typically don't eat a lot of sausage at our house. The Wife is allergic to pork, and all the substitute stuff is just OK. She got some bulk spicy sausage from one of her clients a few weeks ago, and it was really good. Turns out, they got it from a butcher shop in a nearby town that used to be owned by my uncle (Mother's brother) and his wife. The people running it now have a good reputation, and now I know why. This was a blend of beef and deer, and I could not tell by the flavor that it wasn't spicy pork sausage. They package it in those little 1lb tube sleeves like Bob Evans, so it's convenient as well. So, it seems we have sausage back on the menu.

Sounds good. One other thought, although you probably have it covered...compare weights of different grapples so you get one as strong as you need, but not so heavy that it "eats" up the lift capacity of your FEL.

... hair is already at ponytail stage.

My hair has been ponytail length since the '70s. :D At one point, it was long enough to sit on if I tilted my head back.

I did cut it all off once, in 1990. Having short hair felt every bit as uncomfortable to me as having long hair feels to you guys. By '92, it was growing out again.

Good morning to all! Low of 54, high today only going for 82. 62% humidity. T-storms possible again. We got just over 1 1/4" over the past 3 days. Ground is sucking it up like a sponge. Some green is barely started to come back.

The birthday celebration for my MIL went good. My daughter and all the grandkids had a good time visiting for the 4 days. I was able to do all the suspension work on my daughter's Ford Excursion, with the help of my sons. Took us a total of 22 hours over the 3 days working on it. There were multiple times that the Ford engineers were being cursed! Several times, in order to remove one simple bolt, three other parts had to be removed. Then of course, there were specialty tools required. I found a couple of other parts that will need to be replaced, so she will make another trip back down next month. I am seriously glad that this job is over with!

David, I / we are are sorry to hear about your loss of a devoted companion. Take care, remember all the good times.

Drew, don't overdo the moving tasks, take your time and rest if needed. Glad you are starting the next phase.

Ron and BEF, hope your pain subsides and there are no further issues.

RNG, that was quite the ordeal doing the tank project. Hopefully the remaining metal will be thick enough to weld to.

This week's adventures will include installing a whole house fan. It was supposed to be included/installed when I was building the cottage. I did not listen to my inner voice, and we opted to delete it. For sure it was a mistake. It will be much harder and time consuming to do now, plus the mess associated. I am hoping that it will be easier than I am anticipating.

Before the fan project, I need to finish moving the last few R/C from the garage to the hobby shack. It is all sorted, just needs a place out there.
After both of those projects are done, and the garage is cleared, it will be back onto the garden bench restoration. It has been interrupted for almost 2 months now....

I don't think I will run out of things to do anytime soon!

Everyone have a great start to the week!

Almost forgot.

Took a spin around the firetruck the other day using one of the canned flight programs on the drone. Always gives me an uneasy feeling once it takes off on its own, especially when it crosses over into the sun...

Oh, and a "welcome" goes out to Luther!

Randy, I had made an electric actuator small dump cart years ago (when we lived back East). It worked really well and was strong. The biggest problem with it was it could not be left out in the rain, the actuators were not really weatherproof. I am sure that the engineers that designed the grapple took that into consideration. It would be my concern that it would be protected in some way.

And that brings up another point. Every pound of weight taken by an FEL attachment is one less pound of payload that the loader arms can lift. Everything Attachments prides themselves in using alloy steel, so for a given size, their grapples will weigh less than those of competitors and probably be stronger as well. They're also pretty knowledgeable about their products, and I didn't run into any sales pressure when I called to order mine...

Sorry, Billy, I didn't see your post before I dashed this off. You said it better than I did, in fewer words, too!
