Good morning!!!!

Good morning, I have been out early to get a bit of spraying in before it gets too hot. Better for herbicide take up and certainly more enjoyable for me. Expected high of 30C/86F, which easily makes it the hottest day of the year for us, though I doubt if many here would even call that hot.

Not sure if I mentioned it before, I bought another Tilley hat, this time their "T4MO-1 HIKER'S HAT". The same wide brim as my old one, but slightly lighter weight, with a ventilated mesh around the top and a pad inside that can be soaked in water for some additional evaporative cooling. Not done any hiking in it, though it is proving ideal for wandering around with a knapsack sprayer. My second Tilley in 20 years - the Canadian economy will be booming :).

Paint a blue hat with a product called Tanglefoot and never be bothered or bitten by a deer fly again.
Frank, I am going to try this on horse flies - found a hat, how many pints of Tanglefoot would you recommend ?

Rick, you run your 1211 a lot. With you sitting on it and full tanks, it weighs over a ton. I'd think about putting a new tire on it and fixing the old one as a quick spare in case of another flat. That mower will be with you for many years.

David, always liked my R4s.

Yep .. agreed WNG. I called my Kubota dealer and a tire only is $195. My regular tire dealer called all three tire vendors and none handle that size tire (26x12-16). Complete tire and new wheel on Amazon is $208.95 and free shipping but delivery is August 11-13.

Same at eBay is $210, free shipping, with guaranteed delivery by August 4th .. next Tuesday. So .. for $1.05 more I save at least a week. Place my order with eBay.

The hole in the side wall is small so I'm going to try a standard plug first then perhaps later try the type plug / patch Kyle recommended. Seems nobody does "hot patches" any more?

I agree with all on the R4 tires. My New Holland has R1s and the LS has R4s. There is a major difference in damage done by tires.

Poured first cup of coffee. 59° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with mostly cloudy skies in PM. Sure was nice outside yesterday. Low humidity and a just right breeze. Looks like lot more of that weather coming my way. Got siding project started yesterday. But missing a couple pieces of trim. Taking dogs in for grooming this morning. Then will stop at Lowes for siding trim and do some grocery shopping while dogs are being groomed.
Lot of critters and birds visiting my place lately. This House Finch was one of them.

Drew, prayers for you friends sister. Good luck getting 30 lbs tank hooked up.

Ken, Hope you get bees gone. I use diesel fuel on them after dark. If you are allergic stay away. A local landscaper was found in a customers back yard yesterday. He died from a bite.

Wngsprd, glad you got oil changed. I use my golf cart for the runs of for forgotten stuff.

Buckeye, hope you got some more sleep. I had to sleep in my Lazy boy recliner for over 6 months after arm surgery.

Kyle, good repair on lathe. Glad my lathe is not that complicated. I would have to call a tech in to repair it.

Eric, I think you have the wrong Tangle foot.

David, great picture. I have had R-1 and R-4 tires. My Kubota has R-3 turf tires. They have been very good for my place. It always amazes how well they work in snow. I know no. No snow in HI.

RNG, Tank repair looks good. Your network plans are way beyond my pay grade. Looking forward to your install reports.

Randy, so your birthday is August 2nd?

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Eric, I'm afraid that horseflies aren't enamored with blue the way deerflies are. Although your version of Tanglefoot may overcome that distinction!

Good morning! 79˚F before sunrise, feels like 79˚F, Wet bulb 76˚F, humidity 87%, delta-T -3˚F, dew point 75˚F.

Cold front heading this way with 60% rain chance this afternoon, high of only 91˚F.

Kyle I have not insulated my garage attic and after researching all the pressure warnings I think I need to do that first - but not in August. Also a concern is making a pressurized attic and the hot air will enter the house. I need to check out the number of square feet the roof has for the air to exit. The quiet fan co. gives a minimum number before the attic becomes pressurized. I'm monitoring the garage temp with the attic stairs pulled down a foot.
Too many gears for me Kyle, but looks like an interesting project.

Prayers for Drew's friend's sister as she battles Covid19.

Our covid numbers are decreasing, Everyone I've seen in public is wearing a mask and 99% wear them wrong. It is hard to imagine them being protective.

Finally got around to taking the Ranger in for a brake light connection re-call and oil change. The dealer gave me the first 4 oil changes free in the sales deal, so I don't have to figure out how to remove the oil filter through the front left fenderwell's secret panel. Because they took 3 hours they threw in a free tire rotation so I walked out with a $0 bill. (They would have charged Randy)

Eric I think the flies could get trapped in the bottles if you removed the straws.

Good morning. It was 75° and humid this morning and our forecast says 90° this afternoon. Luckily .. we had a nice breeze this morning.

We've got four large live oaks of which the branches of two overhang the lane off the main drive to the house. My supervisor advised that it would be appreciated if I trim up the low limbs the she had to drive her SUV under. That became my project yesterday morning before it got hot.

View attachment 664771

I got out my trusty HF 40 volt pole saw and got busy. I don't like to do major tree trimming, when it's hot but .. managed to trim up lowest branch tips to about 10 ft. above the driveway.

View attachment 664775

The branches of another live oak, in the front yard, were so low I couldn't get under them to mow, with the zero turn, so I worked on that with the 40 V pole saw this morning.

View attachment 664776

After getting all the trimmed limbs to a burn pile, I went to get on the ZT to do some mowing under the trimmed trees. Nope! Left side tire was flat. I grabbed my portable pancake air compressor, to inflate the tire but that was a no go .. indicating the inside bead was broken. I jacked it up, grabbed my pneumatic impact and removed the tire, only to find a piece of about 14 gauge steel wire in the inner sidewall.
View attachment 664777

I'll try a plug, after lunch but .. likely it won't hold in the sidewall. A new tire (26x12-16) is about $170 or I can get a complete new wheel and and tire for $208. This is an uncommon size and seems to be hard to find. I can't imagine how many $$$ it would be at the Kubota dealer. I need to make a decision this afternoon.

Welcome .. to our new members.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all.

Rick- I had a wire stuck through the sidewalk of rear tire on my jd650 tractor a couple of years ago. I marked the spot with chalk, pulled the wire out, and put several ounces of Slime in the tire. Ran the tractor around the yard and driveway and parked the tractor with the marked spot on bottom. A couple of days later the tire still held air and I could see a tiny green dot from the slime where I had removed the wire. It’s still holding to this day.

I've got a gallon of Slime with hand pump on it. This .. might be worth a try. Thanks.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:45AM. Abundant sunshine. High 101F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Looks like we'll be stuck with 100F highs through the weekend, but cooling off to the low 90s toward the end of next week. It's not much, but I'll take it.

If you go the tire sealant route, Rick, TireJect gets better Amazon reviews than Slime, and makes a heck of a lot less mess when it comes time to change tires.

Hoping for good news at the vet for Coco, Billy.

I use Tanglefoot to keep the bird poop off the satellite dish, but I never thought of having it with dinner. Thanks for the tip, Eric!

Watching the hummers battle for a spot at the feeder just outside the bedroom slider. I filled four feeders yesterday morning, and for some reason the all want to drink at this one.:confused3: With eight drinking holes, that leaves at least four looking for a place to put their bills. Add in the yellow jackets, whose bait trap I have yet to make, and who the hummers give a wide berth, and that feeder is a busy spot this morning.

The new network will deploy in stages because as Don says, attic work in August isn't a good idea out here, either. But I can easily replace existing WiFi routers that I've been using in repeater mode that already have CAT5 wire runs to them, so that's where I'll start. The resulting WiFi will only have one SSID/password, letting the iPhone and iPads roam without me having to tell them which network to use. The other reason for the change is to create separate VLANs for guests and IoT devices, so as to improve security for my daily use laptops.

Dawn is breaking and I've got an appointment with a can of sealer...

TGIF gang!:drink:
