With the generator, Drew, you want to avoid trying to start the engine when household loads are connected to it, as it puts more strain on the starter motor and battery. I don't like to open and close breakers when there's a load, either, since it's hard on the breakers. Sometimes you just can't avoid it, though.
thanks, I would never do that RNG, yes, hard on machinery. Which is why I will start it first and let it warm up, and then switch individual breakers on one at a time. I posted the instructions, btw, on the generator thread here and they all said I was fine, interlock mechanics prevents problems, only one hot input at a time. They also said good to warm up gen first.
Ted, good luck using that 25 percent coupon on something worthwhile, most of the good stuff is excluded...
