Your table saw looks great! Nice work.

I've got an old Craftsman 10" table saw I bought used in 1971 sitting in the shop, unused for several years since I replaced it with a 5 HP cabinet saw. I need to find time to refurbish the surface as you did. Mine doesn't quite as much surface rust, as you started with and the side extensions are heavy aluminum.

I see a restoration project in the future!

The bad news of the day... a minor inconvenience... my plan for the shop layout is not going to work. After trying to maneuver the tools all around, I gave up and took a bunch of measurements. I am just going to do a scale drawing with scale tools and try to find a good layout.... I think I need a bigger shop.... or another garage for the tractor and other less used stuff.

Yep. I bought a nice Delta T2 Fence for it .. right before getting a good deal on the cabinet saw. I'd like to get it cleaned up, fence installed, and set right besides the other saw .. probably use it primarily for ripping and dados. Both run on 240 Volts AC so power will be very easy.

I've got plans nearly complete to build a new smaller out-feed table. My present OFT top is 72" x 48" and I'd like to move it to a different part of the shop for assembly / glue-ups. In its present position, if I'm assembling something, or have something in clamps .. it's in the way of ripping anything very long.

The new out-feed top would be 48" x 48", on casters, so it can be easily moved behind either table saw.

I think I bought my Delta T2 fence at Lowe's .. probably 7-8 years ago for less than $150. It's got 60" rails.

That might be a great upgrade to your table saw. The Craftsman saw cuts great .. the crappy fence .. was it's only problem.

Locking casters .. are your friend. All my WW tools are on large bases with big locking / swivel casters. I can place them easily to handle large material and easy hookup to my shop dust collector.

The Texas Chain Saw massacre continues.

My Husqvarna lasted till 30 minutes before the end and then it would not crank. But I went to town found a replacement spring on the pull cord for the one that broke and had it working two hours later so it's ready to continue the cedar massacre again next week. The other two chainsaws continued to massacre and I was self demoted to hauler of amputated limbs. I was having visions of a new chainsaw for Christmas, but it turned out to be too easy of a fix and for only $6.

Good evening all. 57F for the start, overcast, windy. Windy and wind increase till about 8:00 tonight, overcast cleared out then came back this afternoon, and high temp was 63F at 10AM, low temp 34F at midnight. Bike ride this morning after consulting several wind forecasts, and did catch lowest wind for the day. Cleaned out ash from insert and emptied the "ash" can and got nap in today.

Kyle Glad you got ring in the bike and all is well. Most people don't add extra oil to mix because it leans out the gas too much and will overheat easier. My racing buddy would run 32:1 in a 20:1 engine while racing with no lube problems. Neat action pic. Run ball sound delightful

Kyle, great job, I’ll bet that could be the happiest, proudest boy in the neighborhood.

Kyle, now you have me a bit curious. Our water is stored in 4k gal tanks. Guessing they stay around 70° range, I say that based on that being our mean range. Guess I’ll be checking the temp. It sure isn’t the crisp cool I grew up with in Maine.

I have same kinda problem. My solution is everything is mounted on wheels (locking castors). Tablesaw, drill press, metal cutoff saw, and miter saw all have their spot, but can be repositioned when required. These are also located close to a door if work is longish. I could rip a 4x8 sheet on the tablesaw if needed and have done 16ft lumber on either table saw or miter., but a second pair or hands sure help. Planer, router table etc are lined up against the wall and brought out only when needed.

A very good day as long as I don’t have to include actual production .

PO had all the stuff I was expecting even if late.

Left for town later than expected, but got everything needed. Not back home until late afternoon, too late to start anything

53F, cloudy, and rain showers in the area @ 02:00, with the winds howling out of the southeast @ 20 - 30 mph, with occasional gusts to 40 mph. Just heard a tree come down over in the woods.

Currently under a Winter Weather advisory.

Two thistle tube feeders, two sunflower tube feeders, two suet cake feeders, deer feeder, and squirrel feeder filled this morning. Two scoops of cracked corn put out on the ground for the doves and other birds. Also got new bracket installed on kitchen window and the new suet cake feeder filled and hung on that. Will refill hopper feeder and empty/clean bird bath tomorrow morning ... before the temps drop out the bottom (in the 50's now ... into the mid-teens less than 24 hours from now)

Went over to the barn and dumped about 3/4 of a large jug of Power Service White into the off-road diesel tank and stuck the nozzle in the filler hole and ran the pump back into tank for about 5 minutes to mix it up. Also filled up the Kubota while I was at it. Should now be covered to below zero temps as far as gelling goes. Since I had the forks on, juggled a couple of items around in there ... to make room for the TracVac.

Dropped the forks and put the bucket on and went up and took box blade and grabbed several loads of crusher run and added those to the top part of the driveway and graded it all out. Also grabbed a bucketload of crush and brought it down by the catch basin and filled in a couple of potholes that were starting to develop.

After that I dropped the box blade and put the drawbar on and hauled the TracVac over to the barn for the winter.

The next item to cross off the list was to pull the Stihl polesaw out and trim a couple of low(er) branches that were hanging over the pull-through portion of the turnaround. Once I got those trimmed I loaded them up in/on the bucket and hauled them up to the burn pile.

When I got back down to the house I moved the Weber grill into the garage and brought the 6 mil visqueen for the shower inside the house.

Then I headed down to Canal Fulton Provisions to pick up the duck for Christmas dinner. When I got there there was a line outside - only 4 people allowed inside at a time, masks required. They weren't strictly enforcing the 4 people thing - but everyone inside was wearing a mask and were keeping 6' apart.

Sadly there was no duck to be had - despite the fact that I had called earlier and was told by the young lady I spoke to that they had them but they were frozen. I even asked her if I should reserve it and I would come down before they closed at 18:00 and pick it up. She said no need if I was coming down before they closed today. When I got there another young lady and the owner went back into the freezer and searched high and low but alas: no duck ... :(

The owner was profusely apologetic, said it would probably be a week or more before they got any more in if I wanted to try then. Told him no big deal, went ahead and picked out a couple of nice, well-marbled ribeyes instead ... and he knocked off a couple dollars per pound ...

Good folks ...

Might give Marshallville Packing Company a call in the morning and see if they have any duck ...

For whoever requested a recipe on the Almond Balls I haven't located my Grandmother's recipe (they were to die for :D) ... but I'm still looking ...

In the meantime, here is Mom's recipe for Bourbon Balls (it is likely my Grandmother's ... as she always made them for Christmas, along with Almond Balls and fruitcake):

Mix 3 cups of Vanilla Wafers (fine crumbs)

1 cup ground nuts, particular type not specified (I'd guess walnuts and/or pecans)

1 cup confectioners sugar

3 tablespoons of Light Karo syrup

1 1/2 T of cocoa (I assume that is tablespoons ...)

1/2 cup of bourbon

Make balls (they were around the size of a quarter or so), roll in powered sugar.

Hope every had a great day ...

RS sorry about the valve mixup, hope the fish tank work helpped calm the day

Thanks.

Yup - we had fun.

I moved a bristle-nose out of one tank into the tank that has been the breeding tank for that species.

It looked to be a gravid female and her and the large male immediately started going at it. Haven't checked since, but I'd bet they have spawned.

Will look later today.

RS hope day goes well, is wife off till next year?

Highly doubtful ... :(

There is some talk that she might go to a three-day week ... which would be even better than 4-day week she was on prior to "peak" ...

Glad you were able to catch lowest wind for the day and get ashes emptied ...

Merry Christmas to all my tractor friends!!!
Next two days will be filled with running around trying to get everything done.
35 now going to low 50's but heavy dangerous winds in the forecast. I will be out taking in the flags and whatever else that can fly. Power outages in the forecast due to this.
We are doing immediate family only this year (just 7 of us). Last years summer cookout idea was great so we are doing it again. Burgers and dogs on the grill with potato and macaroni salad. Yum Yum!
To answer some of the questions:
The unattached garage holds just the toys. It is 30X30 foot with 20X15 foot storage above. It was built for the Crossfire and the tractor. Hopefully plan to add a 70's vintage mopar some day.
My attached garage 24X24 holds the work vehicles.
Both roadsters are parked November to May. To much road salt used here!
The mustang is hers and is a v6 automatic. Just right for her to use in the summer.
I think that answered everything.
Hope everyone has a great Holiday and stays safe and healthy!

good morning. Warmer morning, 40 out now going up to 60 with that nasty weather RS is having right now heading this way this afternoon.

headed over to my elderly MIL this morning for cup of coffee and to leave a bird feeder for my BIL. He refuses to wear a mask indoors so that means this
year we don't get to see each other. He like many folks unfortunately have politicized mask wearing, doubly aggravating because his wife is a nurse and
he simply knows better. She has already gotten her vaccine shot, but despite 3000 people a day dying from this recently, he is still in denial. Sure makes me scratch
my head.

When I get home going to give the garage a good vacuuming and put everything away, won't be doing woodwork for awhile as temps drop later this week. If this place were mine
I'd be insulating the garage and putting a wood stove in there, but it's not...reminds me why if health permitting I need to buy a place of my own in next year.

Several inches of rain coming and high winds, not very nice weather for the holidays.
But it's Christmas Eve and let's make the most of it.
And as Buppies mentioned, let's remember why we do this...

47 and the rain is about to start. Took Coco for her walk to beat the rain and ran up on a skunk...we reversed direction...lucky I had leashed her, which is rare here, but had seen skunk on trail cam yesterday and fresh digs, so was being careful out before 5am, when they are likely still out.

Looking for 64, up to 2" of rain, t-storms, and flash flood alerts issued...where's the white Christmas we dreamed of? Local weather girl says flurries tomorrow.

Kyle, I know your son appreciates the hard work you've done for him.

RNG, nice score on those tools and good spirit you have cleaning them and giving away.

Mostly, I'm not sure I would be excited about drinking something called Road Rash.

We met up with our North Carolina son and his girlfriend and their dogs at Richmond's James River Park System yesterday...had a great hike along the river to a place called Texas Beach...a sandy area with huge river-rounded boulders where the river is about a quarter mile wide. The trail was pretty busy with families and mountain bikers. It crosses the old James River and Kanawha Canal and the CSX tracks using a spiral staircase tower and pedestrian bridge. Saw deer, herons, ducks and geese. A real jewel of a park where you'd never know you're in a city. Hiked up to the old Pump House that was used 100 years ago to pump river water up the hill to a big lake used as a reservoir for the city. Then had our family "feast" and gift exchange in the parking area. While we were at Texas Beach, I thought I kept smelling turkeys frying. ;)

Poured first cup of coffee. 43° with wind and rain this morning. Heading to 24° by noon time. Does not looks like we will have a White Christmas this year. Warp a couple of gifts this morning. Then visit couple of neighbors wishing them Merry Christmas. Going to do Christmas Eve with son and his family. Will social distance and not stay long.

Everyone have a Very Happy Christmas Eve.
Like Buppies said. Do not forget what Christmas is about.

Good Morning All.
