67 and showers ended. Going to a Texas high of 83 and New Mexico winds of 30mph.

Ron, glad the furnace is done. I might be giving our A/C mode a workout today.

Randy, I found a pic online of an antique stove top coffee roaster that looks much like the item in one of your photos...it was from 1840, for sale for $275.

Good morning all.

I have noticed many guys want to tell us all what the weather is alike in your location.

Mmm, no precise weather info from me today, you will just have to guess if it is "wet-n-windy" or "windy-and-wet".

It's a tradition started by Irv's first post.
That way you can say golly I wish I lived in Texas or Thank goodness I'm glad I don't live in Texas. :D
RNG, pennwalk, nice try at deflection, but I reckon we could be in trouble if arto suspects how much we make from weather. Gang, don't forget those weather station sponsorships have been our most lucrative deals since Wng had to drop the 3M mask placements when Muhamad became suspicious. Don, Sodamo, no product names for the rest of the week, give it a few days and this should blow over. :)

To add to what Ron said, I try to buy fuel at a busy place and preferably name brand. Either Esso or Shell. I use the same routine when buying diesel for the big truck.
I don't worry about it with the Kioti, it runs on HHO right out of my furnace oil tank.
Thanks Ron and Bill. I agree, am only a name brand buyer at big stations, never the little ones on the byways.
And have driven off at times if I pull in while the big tanker is hogging up half the parking lot.
However...yesterday Audi service rep tells me certain gasolines are now favored and guess what, my local brand Sunoco was not one of them.
I will find out later which brands have some sort of new rating that goes beyond octane.

Last gas bought in car prior to malfunction was in VA at a large Sheetz. ? 93 premium for 3.69 a gallon.

ESSO, there’s a blast from the past, ours got renamed EXXON about fifty years ago. Some areas of the south and out west it was ENCO due to the breakup of Standard Oil. They belonged to the then Humble Oil company. I know because they paid for my college degree.

My weather is a carbon copy of Billy’s, about 83 and very windy with gusts to fifty they say.
I had a restless night with lots of crazy dreams, maybe it was the pork roast.
I’ve got another busy day so I’d better get rolling, have great day.

daugen, is it safe to say that Sheetz gas in VA is the sheetz?

I guess I could have called it Imperial Oil instead of Esso. My uncle was a comptroller for Imperial, they shipped him all over the country.

I sometimes get gas at Charlie's. I gave no idea where he gets his gas but it is supposed to not have ethanol in it. One day I met Charlie he was out shaking hands with customers.(before the pandemic) You don't get that at Exxon.

Good morning! 41˚F heading to 81˚F, lots of sun. The weather link posted by the new guy does not report the weather correctly on my street. They are always warmer - they are from the government. Don't know if they want to emphasize a warmer globe or just forgot about the temp difference between hills and valleys.

Drew, looks like you won't be packing and should probably find an alternative date before they are filled up after November 1. Mine is booked after November so I still hoping it will sail. CDC won't allow cruise companies to return to business in July

Surprisingly I can still book a cabin for June, I guess they still want you thinking about it and then just move your reservation once they cancel, that ought to really work well on customer relations.

much to report.
you know when someone says they're not running on all cylinders?
Well...half an hour after I left my brother's home in Markham VA, just after I turned North
on Route 15 which goes North to Gettysburg and the PA turnpike, I got behind a single super slow
poke in a long passing lane with no one else on the road. So around I go and while I didn't rev limiter the engine,
I did wind it out as you do when flooring it to get around someone and back in the safe lane as quickly as possible.
Car didn't pass well at all and the motor started shaking like mad. Lovely.
But I'm sort of out in the middle of nowhere, much less an audi dealer, so I decided to press on. There were no leaks and temp
was fine, just ran terribly and shook like mad at lower rpms.

There are a lot of hills on that route and on every one I had to manually downshift to keep up with traffic, thank goodness for paddles,
and drove that car like a manual for four hours until almost home and what do I drive right past on route 611?
The local Audi dealer in Warrington.

In I go and what a nice experience. Instead of what I thought it was, a broken motor mount, he mentioned a failed spark plug coil and that the engine was likely running
on three cylinders. That explains a lot.
I was not about to take that huge black piece of plastic off the motor to see what I could see, which was likely little or nothing, and then you have to refit
the plastic. If you haven't broken any of those plastic fasteners they use. So I figure no user serviceable parts in there and get to a dealer.
And this wasn't the dealer I bought the car from either, but they were doing their best to impress, and sent me home with a brand new same model car I had
as a free loaner.

We complain a lot about car dealers, and rightfully. Not today thankfully. Here I am, I haven't even bought an oil change from them yet since I moved here, and they are giving
me a free loaner. And to make this all more ridiculous the little suv was packed full of boxes of family pictures and small paintings I was getting out of my
brother's basement. And they helped me move the boxes too. I need to take them some donuts...

Slept poorly last night, tossed and turned in overly soft bed. Shoulder still bothering me. Waiting for mri dept to call back to schedule. Ah, they just did, next Monday.

2.05 inches of rain here Popgadget, no wonder it's muddy. Your comment had me looking at my weather station and it had reset to 0. But when I pressed week it had the rain in memory.
This is not a sophisticated one like several of you have.

some marvelous pictures posted here, all those ax handles caught my eye. Thanks for posting

maybe a nap

but curiosity demands I go out and check on the potatoes...
onion sets came in the mail, will plant them this weekend.
Possibly a throttle position sensor, hope they tell you exactly what went wrong.

Good Morning
It’s 61 here according to my Tempest weather station. The Davis station shows 61.2, so I will ever actually know what the temperature is. The forecast high is 75 and windy.

Yesterday, I worked in the shop all day, never left the property. Looks like I’ll be in there for a while, 2 more speaker orders came in tomorrow. I suspect that the flurry of activity is due to things starting to open up, with live music returning. Maybe it’s what musicians are doing with their stimulus checks.

Other than shop time, I did get the smoker fired up, it should be done before lunchtime. It’s got a little more than 20lbs of pork shoulders in it for pulled pork. It’s great having a smoker with an automated draft fan. Once the dampers are set about right, I can fire it up and go to bed. It keeps the temp better than my electric stove, and can burn for at least 16 hours on one load of lump charcoal. These shoulders will be done later this morning.

Guess what’s on the lunch menu?

Time for an English muffin and then off to the shop to make some sawdust.

If you tap/click on the Tempest temp it will give you tenths of degrees. They are also at different elevations which also might make a slight difference.

I should have said that the Tempest was 61.0. I like the graph that you get on the detail page as well. I’m still trying to find the daily rain accumulation for a prior day or YTD.

I didn’t consider the elevation, but they’re less than 4 feet apart.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:30AM. Sunny. High 73F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Good to see a red winged blackbird at your feeder, Ron. Another sure sign of spring!

The Germans have a history of short shifting fuel filters, Drew. BMW once incorporated the fuel filter into the fuel pump on one of its motorcycle designs. To replace the filter, you had to replace the pump, at twenty times the cost of a simple inline filter.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines were based on a genome analysis provided by the Chinese. I wonder if anybody checked their work, and if somehow a deliberately altered genome could lead to mischief in the resulting vaccine? How's that for a conspiracy theory?

Maybe the CDC is worried about the efficacy of current vaccines against the new variants that are emerging? Otherwise, why wouldn't being vaccinated be safeguard enough to allow opening of the cruise lines?

Lots of steel bit the dust yesterday, but not quite enough. One more pallet to disassemble today.

ADT has a bad habit of increasing their rates multiple times per year, then backing off when you threaten to cancel. Yesterday I ordered an alarm from a different company that promises to never raise the monthly fee, and gives half off for the first year. And the final rate is less than half what ADT charges. Now all I need to do is work on understanding the Indian/English tech support accent...😄

Speaking of Indians, the east Indian kind, have you folks heard about the glitter bomber? He's the guy that puts a gizmo that will broadcast glitter inside a package that gets left on a porch to tempt thieves. When they open it, glitter goes everywhere and a fart spray is activated, all the action being videoed by cell phones that transmit the images for recording. It also has a GPS unit in it so the package can be recovered. Anyway, the guy has branched out to help stop scammers posing as IRS, police, or other government officials that threaten arrest if victims don't pay up, usually with large cash amounts. The scammers prey on older folks, like most of us. And as it turns out, it starts out in Indian run phone centers that then rely on US based "supervisors" that manage "cash mules" to collect and forward the money. Here's a video with all the gory details, including multiple arrests.

TGIF gang!

Tap history at bottom then use the arrows at the top to go to a specific date to see the rainfall on that date. There is no Accumulation of days/weeks/months/year that I know of.

Popgadget, very cool smoker and data readout.

smelled something nice...🥩🥩🥩
Forsythia just started to bloom, driveway will be mass of yellow soon with lots of forsythia and daffodils.
