WOOHOO! It's raining! Nothing heavy right now, just a steady rain. We'll see how much we get.....

Needless to say, drip irrigation project is at a temporary standstill. We have accomplished a lot of outdoor stuff little by little. I honestly believe that this will be the 'new normal' for me. Slow but sure....

Thanks to all for a warm welcome back. It has been a trying time to say the least. I need to learn how to accept change and realize that I am not 35 or even 55 anymore. Brain says I'm 25.... body is really putting up a stink...

We were finally able to get vaccinated a few weeks ago... the J&J. The next day, I just felt weak and tired, arm was slightly sore. Our son got his and was the same as me. Wifey ended up getting the shot way to high, close to her shoulder joint. More than likely in a tendon. The guy doing the shots was too busy joking around with everyone and missed the mark. Her shoulder is still very sore.

The state started a lottery type giveaway of four $250K prizes each week and one million dollar grand prize for those that got a vaccine. There are 3 chances left for us to win...... maybe my luck will change....

.... Barely t shirt weather this morning here had taste of early October weather 48F clear sky now 67F...

Was a bit cool, and windy, here this morning. I was mowing wearing a skivvy shirt, but had to pop in for a lightweight shirt-jacket.

Dump run done early, then pulled the rest of the fence posts...neighbor came by to collect all the posts and rails. After that was done, mowed the lawn and a bit of string trimming.

I have one high beam out in my Tacoma, so decided to replace that. Unfortunately, the hood release cable is either broken or something stuck. I don't feel any resistance when pulling on the release, so my guess is the cable is broken...
Bummer...truck's due for an oil change anyway...guess repairing or replacing the hood release will be part of that maintenance...

quiet day, going to read a book on my new Kindle. So far I don't think it's worth the extra money over
the basic paperwhite model. Made some salmon burgers barbecued in caribbean hot mango sauce for dinner with a big slice of home grown tomato.

may everyone who needs rain get lots of it
asking for one inch a day for the next week might be pushing it.
i wonder how much rain all at one time it would take to put out the Californian and Oregon fires.

Well, rain stopped.... only 2/10" in the gauge. There are still a buch of dark clouds hanging around, so maybe some more coming.

Drew, I bet even an inch of rain a day would only slightly slow the fire spread. There was a newscast a few days ago reporting that the rain showers that were happening in the fire/burn areas was evaporating before it made it to the ground..... air temperatures over the fires was too hot.

Long day on the bike today 6.5 hours to get 4.6 hour of seat time. Heat(95F HI 104F)) at 2 PM and hills did me in. 3000 feet of climb. No nap catch up tomorrow

69F and clear @ 21:00, heading down to an overnight low of around 61F.

Finished up coring down here around the house first thing.

Then trip to get gas before mowing upper and lower fronts.

Skipped coring on upper front as it was borderline as far as soil moisture at that point. Have around 70% chance of a thunderstorm tomorrow around noon. If that happens I may go ahead and do it afterwards.

Filled hopper feeder and glued up more pvc, followed by mowing down here around the house. Still have compost/woodlot to do.

Finally finished in the pump shed. I had to mount the pump starter box and power switch and put the wall sheeting on. New pump is superb. I forgot what a good pump was like.
Still lots to do so lockdown is making me get out and do it.

I don't know if this'll work for the HPX, Kyle, but on the airhead bikes, I leave the float bowl off, hold the float up to close the valve, then turn the fuel on. Then I let the float come down slowly, and watch for when the gas starts flowing. That's the float level. There's a seam on the plastic float, and when it's parallel to the carb bottom as the gas just comes on, that's the proper level. That part probably isn't appropriate for the HPX, but you'll be able to eyeball where the gas comes on and pretty easily tell if that point is too high or low in the "stroke" of the float. HTH...

I'm starting to think the fuel pump is over-pressuring.

After procrastinating for a while...finally decided to purchase pallet forks...
My loader is self-leveling...pretty nice feature. Set the bucket down, with the bottom flat, as the loader raises, the bucket stays in the same (flat) position relative to the ground.
That will be a big advantage when using forks...
I use my loader much more for lifting then any real "loader" work.
I ended up buying these:

My dad does not have AC, so when we are there we sweat. My room is upstairs which is worse. I put a fan in window to pull in cooler air, and use a box fan also.

Poured first cup of coffee. 61° with rain this morning. Heading to 74° with sunshine in afternoon. Got Base Plate installed. Had a terrible time getting front cover back on. Information from Blue Ox was good. But lacked good detail on how to cut out front cover. After fighting it came in house and did a search. E Trailer had a video showing how todo cutout. Today will be a conserve energy day. Not easy to crawl under a car at my age.

Bird, did not have A/C in house until 1998. Although my cars and boats had it much earlier. Of course it does not get as hot here in MI. as it does in TX.

Roy, I like to use my pallet forks. Have no idea how a self leveling FEL would help.

Happy Sunday everyone!
51 with a high of 76 today. Great weather for walking this morning.
Been a rough week for me as I picked up a sinus infection somehow and haven't been able to do much. Feeling better today finally so I think I'm on the mend. At least I no longer need boxes of tissues around just to breathe.
Wife is doing fine so hopefully she won't get it from me.

Father in law turns 84 on Wednesday so we will have a small party for him here today. He is still able to mow the grass and do upkeep around the apartment house. We don't let him do the snow cleanup alone anymore. He's not happy about that but it is to much work for him now.

I have a few projects I can hopefully get to this week with the nicer weather
we're having.

I took a break from all social media, basically just hitting my 'reset button' For a while. Too many things going on, too many daily obstacles to overcome. Overall, just stepping back and taking it as it comes, slow but steady.

Much cooler day, 60 out now going up to mid 70's in rain and storms this afternoon.
Going to church early this morning with a bristle brush to try to gently rub off the moss scale on family's
gravestones. Then later this afternoon over to brother's where his two kids and their families will be there, should be
a nice party.

Keeps the forks level when lifting....no adjustments required

Doesn't help that much with a bucket...maybe if you have chain hooks and lifting something

Ought to be quite handy with forks though...
