it never dropped below 71F and is supposed to be heading into the 90s, which wouldn’t be bad except for the humidididtty

the good lord has again given us another chance to get it right — still looking at leaves not roots.

yesterday’s menu was Barbecued Bloomin’ Baologna Burnt Ends. Since brisket is so expensive, we went that route - and the piece of bologna was still almost $20!!, talk about baloney. . .

pour dog was not overly traumatized last night, because, just about the time the town fireworks ended and the DIY shows were getting underway, a good heavy rain over in for about an hour.

today will be BBQ Part 2, as mom dug out some leg of lamb from the deep recesses of the chest freezer and declared “this is old enough and it needs to get cooked” so that along with skewered potatoes are this evening’s menu.

SKEWERED POTATOES:

Best with flat skewers for turning. One potato per skewer.

wash potatoes

starting/ending approx 3/4” in from ends, slice potato into 1/8 inch slices.

cut bacon into two-inch pieces (I like jowly bacon for this but any will work).

start by skewering one of the end potato pieces, then alternate bacon-potato-bacon-potato until you have reassembled the potato on the skewer, finishing with the other end piece.

grill, turning every couple minutes until a potato slice can be easily removed from skewer by pulling it out Sideways.

57F cloudy low 70's rain arriving late morning rest of the day...everything could use good drink of water.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...finish cleaning sweeping shed since Boo decided to hang around after day light,other than that not sure.

70 to 91 and humidity returning...yesterday's 60F felt so good, even afternoon 90 felt good with low H.

Thomas, Boo says, "Thanks for cleaning out my new home...what's for dinner?"

Hope everyone had a wonderful special day yesterday.

We had a nice cookout and cornhole tournament...grilled chicken and zucchini (from the garden) slices...my wife made my sister's squash casserole recipe. Then we celebrated my son's upcoming birthday.

76 high of 89 today HAPPY BELATED 4TH. Got really busy yesterday had two couples over for dinner and lunch. Had beach stuff set up big storms came in at 12:30 stayed until 5:30 flyover canceled. Nice fireworks though. Everyone had a great time. More beach time this week wife really enjoys sitting on beach just have to go slow and easy.

She did not remember a lot of the people who have been here a long time

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 4:30AM. Cloudy skies this morning will become partly cloudy this afternoon. High 87F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.

Glad you're still with us, Randy. Hope your recovery continues and you're home soon.

Sounds like good progress on the Impala and welders, Kyle.

Had a pretty nice Independence Day here, with great weather and good company. Knocked together a target holder with scrap lumber and old cardboard, set up a pop up and table, and only got a shot or two off into the new backstop before the neighbor complained. Said it was illegal to shoot less than 100' from the property line. I talked to a sheriff's deputy about it, and there is no such law or regulation. Went back out and enjoyed a few hours of shooting, sighting in new toys and such. Neighbor complained again, very profanely, told him to buzz off and call the sheriff if he felt the need, Next thing you know there's a drone headed for my head, came about 10' from me. I had my phone already out and have it all on video. I'll be in touch with the deputy again today to swear out a complaint, maybe pursue a restraining order. Just another in a long string of run ins with that jerk. Imagine someone being upset with target practice mid day on the 4th of July!?!

Steak on the BBQ and fresh corn on the cob with a garden salad for dinner, then a barley pop or two and some good music on the back porch finished the evening. My friend spotted an unusual cloud down in the valley, and when I checked it turned out to be a new wildfire. CalFire had forward progress stopped at about 40 acres, but is sure put out a lot of smoke.

My buddy heads back home today, but not before he helps me fish a wire down the pole we put up for the satellite antenna...
