38F and partly cloudy @ 10:45, heading up to around 52F for the high.

Went to bed around 19:00 last night, slept real good ... didn't get up until just a little before 09:00.

Was up for better than 24 hours prior.

Did not go up to shop Friday night, instead watch a movie with The Woman and then fiddle-farted around after She went to bed.

Did get up to the shop early Saturday and got the front and rear trunnion and yoke washed off with water and dish soap, then got all the contact cement removed, and scrubbed all three pieces down in the parts washer before I left to pick up the metal enclosure around 11:00. It was a mess:

IMG_2401 copy.jpg

Interesting story there on picking up the metal box.

Noticed when I pulled into the driveway that there was a very large electrical disconnect switch on the side of the garage. Big.

When I went up to the door a very nice young man answered and invited me into the garage - which was fairly cluttered - where he had the metal box sitting out. Said he and his father were in the middle of trying to repair either the washer or dishwasher - don't recall which exactly - and he didn't catch my text that I had arrived (I had to go up to the door and knock)

Got a look at the inventory of boxes which was pretty extensive, maybe has another 5 or 6 large ones.

He asked what I was going to do with it and I explained that I was restoring a Delta Unisaw that I had a three phase motor and since we didn't have three phase, it needed to a VFD to convert single phase to three phase.

None of that seemed to register with him, but on the way out I noticed a pair of jointer/planers - one of which was a fairly large (4' long) Delta of similar vintage as the Unisaw I am working on and I commented on it. And he said something to the effect of "Is the saw you're working on as big as this one ?"

I explained that yes, it was similar in size but that it was actually a table saw while this thing there in the garage was a jointer/planer. He confessed that he was not much into woodworking himself, but had an older brother that was.

Then he mentioned that his father - who is apparently suffering from Cerebral Palsy - had been a cabinet maker.

At that point I looked around the garage a little closer and lo and behold, there towards the back was 60's/70's vintage Unisaw, tucked up against the wall and I commented that what I was working on was just like that, only a little newer.

He knew it as a "Rockwell" (which it was ... a Delta Rockwell) so my comments on working on a Delta Unisaw didn't register with him.

What are the odds ? ...

After I left there I headed over to Menards, which was fairly close, and picked up my special order of some Plano storage cases, and grabbed the correct cover for 220v outlet and the 2-gang box.

By the time I got out there, the sky was looking pretty nasty ... a Severe Thunderstorm had been issued just before I went inside and it had come through while I was in there, just grazing us ...

Roads were a real mess all the way home, with lots of downed branches calling for evasive maneuvers.

About a mile from the house there was a large tree that had been blown over blocking Route 93 (Manchester Road) and I had to back track and detour to get home.

I ended up heading back up to the shop for a little bit after I got back and did a little more work up there.

Found a piece of 11 gauge sheet whose thickness was a good match for the steel on the saw base (within 0.001" ... ;)) and got that cut to length on the bandsaw. May try to get that welded on today.

It will have to be heated, bent, and formed to match the base after it's welded on ... which should be interesting ...

Beyond that I did get a little straightening up and organizing done before I threw in the towel and came on down to the house.

By that point the temperature was dropping like a rock and I was tired anyways. Actually had ice pellets hitting the car as I drove back down to the house.

Did get the t-strip edging and some double-sided laminate tape which is supposed to work with UHMW ordered from Amazon. Those will be in on Tuesday.

Need to get the feeders filled up today.

Daffodils are all blooming (finally) and the forsythia has started as well.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday ... (y)

Good morning! Low was 33°, heading towards 64°. Sunny and light breezes. Need to batten down the hatches today, in anticipation of the strong winds expected tomorrow.

After I get the oil change done, wifey has a project for both of us.... we have 4 planters that have Asiatic lilies that have multiplied to the point of being overgrown.

We're going to dump them and replant just a few into smaller containers. Didn't get to them during the winter and now they are starting to pop. --- no time to procrastinate any longer....

Burgers on the grill this afternoon. Probably some fries on the side.

I've been entertaining myself this morning watching the birds fight over the feeders. --- or hierarchy.... not sure which. Juncos, sparrows, mountain bluebirds, phoebes. The ring neck doves are staying out of the controversy. They'll be fighting for nesting spots next.....

Haven't seen / heard any hummingbirds yet, but the local bird watching groups are saying to put out the feeders now, before they arrive. Might do that after the next wind event.

Everyone have a peaceful Sunday.

Talking a bit of a break after a senior moment. Fell off the ladder. Probably more accurate to say I actually rode it down as it fell, landing on it. I was about 6 feet up using it in inverted V to support some scaffold. Was trying to step around the scaffold to get down when it tipped. No serious damage other what I suspect will be some bruises and likely be sore.my Apple watch worked and triggered. Good thing is I had just finished that task and was about to take a break. Years ago I most likely would have just jumped off rather than hanging on.
You should have video recorded that one!

David, hope you are feeling better today, not too many purple spots.
Ken, feel better. How about some therapeutic charm from your wife?...;)

easy drive today, wind had died down, but picked back up the further North I went. Nice KOA campground by a local river, Frits is on his way over this afternoon and hopefully we can take a walk and check it out.
then a nap

67°F and no rain.

Nice dinner out with friends yesterday.

Plan is to continue yesterdays’s efforts, but without the ladder drama. Funny how not that many years ago I would have barely given such an incident much thought.

Drew, your safe travels continue.

RNG, fell you must be getting closer.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Buppies, if its an open sore baking soda solution will
kill the cancer cells very quickly.
These items make your system acidic so cancer can
thrive: meat, coffee and soda and sweats helps cancer
grow. By drinking lemon juice with water makes your
system alkaline and cancer can't live in an alkaline system
This is what a stage 4 cancer person from church did:
quite eating meat, no coffee or soda or sweats.
had 3; or 4 ozs fresh carrot juice couple times a day
1000mg VIT "C" every 4 hours body spits it out every 3 or 4
hours what it don't use. Mix well and drink morning & night
for 2 weeks:
4 ozs water
4 to 6 table spoons pure maple syrup or molasses

In two weeks he was back to work and doc said he had
maybe 3 months to live to go home and get his papers
in order

very nice visit with Frits/M7040.
tells a lot about a man when he has 9 adopted kids.
We walked down to the little river nearby, very pretty here.
sure has been nice meeting my "tractor buddies" on this trip.

now for a nap. Was going to wash the rv but decided to wait until I got home tomorrow. I'm sure I'll pick up a bunch of bugs on the turnpike.

Drew, it was nice meeting and hope daughter calling in was ok with you. I think the valve extensions will help make the TPMS system safer. Very nice at the edge of the river.
Good luck with your travel home tomorrow.

Got stickers and masking tape on the the metal enclosure removed along with the residue from both:

Think I'm going to leave the "Fire Dept. Valve" on there though ...

Next step will be to see if I can beat out the dents.

But first will go fill feeders.

OK, enough done for the day..... landscaping plant wise...we dumped one planter out of 4. The net result was about 120 bulbs, which were replanted in 40 small pint containers in the greenhouse, each having 2 or 3 bulbs in each.

We'll wait on the other 3 planters until the wind event passes. A few gusts about 30 mph hit us already, so called it quits. Her back was really hurting, so a good stopping point.

Wifey's thrill was the 25 containers of ice plants she grew from seed. They are in 1 pt. containers and filled them out. That's about $120 worth of plants for $2 worth of seeds. Here's one tray:
image.jpg
She definitely has a green thumb. Bunch of other flowering plants also growing nicely. I think we will be busy planting here in a few weeks or a month.....

Ken, sorry you don't feel well. Also sorry that the wifey is angry with you again.... any clue as to why? That makes it tough.

Drew, glad you got to meet and greet with a few other TBNers. Something that I really would like to do. Once I can figure out what's going on with the knee, we're gonna hit the road in the RV and maybe we'll get a chance to.

Just spending an hour doing the planter made it complain. Swelled it to twice the size of the other. Something is definitely wrong with it, but nobody knows why..... With my luck, probably some rare tropical disease .....

Kyle, prayers sent for some ratification of the preacher issues. Wow, just wow....$120K a year? That's insane. There should not be that much pressure on the congregation.

Time for a shower and put the feets up!

Never sure, maybe drinking will help
no, it will just make you feel bad afterward...
take the high road. Flowers, always start with flowers.
Now I've had three wives so that automatically qualifies me for, well, something,:cool::cool:

tell her you love her, and mean it
tell her she's beautiful, and mean it
tell her her happiness is important, and mean it

if that doesn't work, enjoy the worm in the tequila bottle....
now if the rest of you did the three tells tonight, I bet we'd have some smiling guys tomorrow. Really.

but I digress, thanks Frits, you have a lot of interesting experience, a Danish mechanical engineer who ran big projects for Bechtel. Huge job. Nice truck too!

Am thinking Frits you sometimes can't get a word in edgewise with your daughter, but her caring and compassion was fun to experience.
My favorite line was why do people have to be such "rear-ends"...
Sometimes you can smother those folks with kindness and change their way, and other times you just need to walk away, if you can.
And I really wasn't listening so I didn't know the context, other than it was caring for others.

and to really digress, if you take 150 full time church members times 500 dollars each, you get 75,000 a year. Paying almost double that is not going to end well. Or you need a few folks with really deep pockets. Too many other expenses to consider, property, grounds, utilities, etc. Bump it up to 1000 a piece, some could handle it, and you just start being able to afford a six figure staff.

Some churches have big endowments which throw off considerable income to pay expenses. The lucky ones...

woke up from nap, fresh pot of coffee, now what should I do on my last night out?
actually need to go for a walk.
then I have a shrimp and fish dinner to cook.
Still haven't used the stove.

RS, for all us retired firemen out there, you must leave that fire dept sign on. It's the memory...

that saw hasn't seen that much love in a long time

Drew, yes she gets into the subject of the day when she calls. Always interesting especially her calls when traveling. Remember calls from Afghanistan while being under rocket attacks. She has a schedule coming up of travel to several countries for the State Department.

   / Good morning!!!! #167,280
and when she calls she always knows that her Dad will listen to her...
someone she can depend upon. All good.
except calling while driving is a real risk factor. Unless it's handsfree, not good due to distraction. I can't even do it handsfree.
It's why it's illegal in many states. Don't want to give Officer Bob a reason to pull you over.
