"I told the 'administrator' lady that I value my home/holiday time at $100.oo/hour and so far they owe me $350.oo."

I never liked the union when I was in one but that is one time where they protect you. It is in the contract.

Good morning,
37°F now highs around 70° and partly cloudy, winds WSW 10-20 mph gusts around 30 mph. Brush fire season is in full swing, already been a couple of dozen in the last few days. Amazing how fast things can dry up with no appreciable rain.

Todays project is to clean the ac’s and change filters so they’re ready when it hits 80° the end of the week.
Been slowly picking away at perennial garden clean up, boy the knees just don’t like kneeling down anymore but I will win or not lol.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning.
Its 42 now but will be 72 and sunny today.
Yesterday was a busy and productive day, almost entirely outside.
Started off by removing the tire from the rim on the wheel I changed on the Progressive mower, cleaned up the rime and installed a new valve stem so it will be ready to mount the new tire that Amazon is bringing today. I like keeping a spare ready to go. I’ll be gone all day today, so it will get mounted tomorrow.
Next up was stretching some fence wire to the gate post I put in last week and hanging a gate.

I successfully relocated the manure to a neighboring farm, leaving the bin empty for the first time in a while.

Threw some hay down from the loft, put the grapple on the tractor and loaded the old steel pipe from the culvert into the scrapper’s truck, and that completed the farm chores for the day. I have some more grapple work cleaning up downed trees, but decided to save that for another day, played with Zoe instead.

Today I’m off to Palm Beach again, that will kill most of the day. Might get the tire mounted when I get back, but that’s about it.

Drew, They will give you tire bags if you ask for them.

Chris
thanks, I was going to
if I fold down seats in Volvo there should be plenty of room, these are not oversized tires, smaller than my previous truck tires actually.
Plus I put towels down on everything
tire bags would be nice when I put in motorhome on way to install.

35F and clear @ 07:00, heading up to around 74F for the high today. Should be a very nice Spring day.

Woman requested I run Her up to neighbor's son's place of employment yesterday so his car could be retrieved, so activities here at home were delayed by an hour or so.

Stopped by DG on the way up and grabbed some Scotch-Brite pads to use as filters.

After we got back I went over to the barn with some starting fluid and attempted to get the Cub running. Got it started ... but it would not stay running, stumbles and dies after 5 - 10 seconds ... 🤬

Eventually wore the battery down so I went and got the charger out of the van and hooked it up. Should be fully charged by now. Will give it another shot later today after it warms up, probably around noon.

After that I headed up to the shop and started working on de-burring the two holes I cut in the metal enclosure for the VFD for ventilation.

Ran down to the corner hardware once I had that completed and picked up some nylon bushings and machine screws to attach the filters on the enclosure. Worked great, Scotch-Brite pads fit perfectly between the bushings and grills for the 120mm muffin fans:

Was starting to cool off at that point so I fired up the double barrel.

Hit all the drilled holes in the enclosure again with the de-burring bit and called it good.

About the time I had that finished up Woman called to let me know tacos were ready so I headed down to the house for dinner.

After dinner I went back up to the shop and got the enclosure blown out with compressed air and then wiped the exterior down with acetone. Then taped up all the holes from the inside.

After that I shot it with Rust-oleum Self-Etching Primer:

Followed that with a topcoat using an old can of "Armor" brand black engine enamel:

Loaded up the double barrel with some oak splits to keep things warm overnight and called it a day.

Got back down to the house just a little after midnight.

Today I'll see if I can get the printer fixed - either print heads need cleaned or it needs a new cartridge - and print out an exploded parts diagram for the saw ... so saw reassembly can start in earnest.

Beyond that and getting the Cub running, wheel bearings in dump cart still need replaced and the feeders are due to be refilled.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday ... (y)

Morning all, 37 going to 74 and sunny.

Spent a few more hours brushcutting the back yard. Starting to be able to see the whole area now since most of the brambles are down.

Trying not to have to spray, but that autumn olive is growing everywhere, painting a few thousand stumps seems a daunting task.
If there were not so many dead ash waiting to drop branches, I would be digging all of them up. So back to brushcutting I go.

Got a quote for the driveway to get chip sealed at $45K, not likely we will pay that....

Sodamo - your work looks better than most construction people around here could do.

Rip - all that work is paying off the interior looks great.

PopGadget - safe travels. Farm looks dog and pup is certainly growing up.

RS - does Cub have inline fuel filter? Did you check carb to see if needle sticking or bowl not filling-

Everything is starting to bloom here,

Be well,

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:00AM. Cloudy early with peeks of sunshine expected late. High 72F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Unless you're using a lethal charge on your electric fence, Drew, I think you're safe from prosecution. A neighbor lady uses metallic coated mylar strips on her electric fence, with spears of peanut butter on the ends. Doesn't take but a taste or two before the deer and other varmints leave the garden alone, even long after all the peanut butter is gone.

That's quite an egg, KJC. Ouch!

Way too early for brush fires, Billy. If it's this bad now, what's it going to be like come summer?

Pulled the fuel filter off the side-by-side and found it completely clogged. Fun job, laying on back, nose only a few inches under filter to see, dirt everywhere, eyes, mouth, even ears. Bought a new filter from local Kubota dealer over the phone, who didn't want to take a credit card over the phone for some reason. Only did it as a favor to a long time customer. Neighbor picked it up on his lunch hour for me. Got the new filter installed, but only got a few seconds of run time before it, too, clogged. Not looking forward to pulling and cleaning the fuel tank, but that's what it's gonna take.

Had to get the garbage can up the hill, so strapped the handle to to the grapple and off we went. Teeth were too big to get a good grip on the handle. Resisted the urge to rearrange the logs so they again blocked the boat launch road; a windmill for another time.

Contractor didn't show up until 4PM, followed in by a neighbor bringing me a door and door frame to replace the one that was damaged by the Christmas wind storm. Nice neighbor, but he's the same one I help with his construction equipment. Earlier in the day he brought over the hex coupler from an auger bit so we could band saw off the remnants of the auger shaft that broke off. Then used the hydraulic press to press out what was left. Didn't break anything else, rare for me when using a hydraulic press.

The crew is supposed to be here at 7 this morning; we'll see how that goes...

Ouch, how long is the driveway?

Been a want of mine for a long time. But I have close to 2000 feet and a turn about area. A chunk of change for sure that I just cannot seem to part with. LOL.

Another 80º day planned, actually cooling a bit. Yesterday was hot, not looking forward to the summer heat as much as we said we were a month ago when we were working in the cold rain.
Finally got the sprinkler valve manifold dug up and valves cut off. Quick trip to Lowes for supplies planned this AM and hopefully I get the new valves installed today. If they last as long as the last bunch...I won't have to worry about them.
Enjoy your day!

I coughed up about $5k about 5 yrs ago for our 400 ft in asphalt. Glad I did. It would probably cost double today...like everything else.
