Dennis, my grandmother used to make something she called mustard pickles that had onions in them. Boy do I miss them. Could eat half the jar myself.

This is wife’s grandmother’s recipe. Bread and butter pickles.

77F and supposedly cloudy @ 14:00, but I'm occasionally seeing some sun out the window. Some showers in the area with more on the way. WU was only calling for 74F for the day's high temp so we've beaten that. HI 78F, DP 67F, HU 78%, AQI 32.

Closest LWS reports 0.35" since midnight. No rainfall data available for yesterday from the three closest stations, something apparently hosed on Weather Underground's website.

Took core aerator around back and collected concrete block and then parked it in the barn first thing yesterday before mowing over leach field.

Covered up Cub with a tarp when the deluge hit.

After rain quit ran down to the corner and got 5 gallons of gas, refueled Cub when I got back.

Things seemed to dry up pretty rapidly, the fact that lawn had been recently cored probably helped.

Then got east side down here around the house all mowed.

Got hopper feeder refilled later, plus the tube feeders.

Put dump cart on Cub and picked up all the weeds The Woman had pulled and hauled those up to the compost pile. Still need to do the compostables in the garage.

Swapped out the smaller cage around the gingko tree for a larger one, also weeded around it. Gingko tree looking the best it ever has.

Swapped the shorter/smaller cage around the best Rose of Sharon bush. It has around 6 flower buds on it and is now over 4' tall ... but the tips of the branches had been getting nipped ... hopefully this new cage will protect it a little better.

Put Cub away over in the barn before knocking off for the day.

Woman and I split the last Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast for dinner and polished off the green bean casserole. She also fixed some Saffron flavored rice to go along with it. Tasty.

Looking like not much on agenda for the rest of the day outside due to the weather.

Probably a good day to do a clean out on the refrigerator/freezer and do some work on paperwork organizing.

Overdue for a shave ... so may work that in as well ... ;)

Hope everyone is having a good Monday ... (y)

looks like quite a good storm coming in tonight, will affect many of us on East Coast.
one to two inches of rain possible and high winds.
in fact at bottom right of my screen it says high winds soon

I've been lazy this afternoon, read a book.
now headed to basement to pump out hot tub so maybe I will get lucky and find out what is leaking.
I think the whole pump assembly has to be removed and taken apart, meaning all the plastic shrouding on top so I can
see what is inside. Hope it's a loose pipe

Well, severe weather moving into the area. Alerts are up all over the place and the FED has decided to abandon all locations in and around the city. It's every man and woman for themselves with early dismissal. (Hint: Staggering when to leave, never works). LOL.

Guess I will go secure the worksites and batten down the hatches on the home front.

Conditions are hot and humid right now. Perfect for bad weather.

Good luck on digging into the hot tub.

Not to be a negative nelly, one I had sprung a leak, pipe actually gave way at joint. Patched it, and then another gave way. Seems the hot water and chemical mix, over time, degraded the pipes.

I tried to make a fish pond out of it after that. Found out they float rather well after you lay them down into holes and it rains. LOL.

The feds used to never release early unless it was a blizzard that already hit.

Was 8 jars of pickles, 7 in canner, one for is to eat now.

Current radar with storms heading NE direction. Nothing heading towards DC right now, but I guess they could pop up.

We have warnings all over the place about T storms and tornadoes but so far only a few heavy wind gusts. Power went off and came back on a few times

successful morning
back is not happy but got it done

cover is built for two person rack and is too big.
plus I think it and almost any cover would continue to block
view of license plate.

that seems like an invite to a bored LEO hoping I have ten kilos aboard, get a commendation,
maybe a medal.
at least it's something to keep it clean and it gets it out of the garage while stored here.

I've seen lots of rvs go by with big bikes and cargo under cover, blocking the license plate.
kinda wondered how that turned out

upon further inspection, saddlebags nicer than I thought, closer to cordura than plastic.
seems like a lot of loose stuff flapping too close to rear wheel and chain, but I think I'll leave them off.
I'd rather have an open box in the rear, think empty weight box on tractor.
Friend said he thought my rear tire looked a little fat.
hmmm, well I'm not light, and I pumped it to 30psi out of max 35
If I'm going to carry more weight in rear, better go 35. Lack of decent suspension means tires being a little
soft helpful. I'm sure the less rolling resistance the better.

bottom line is I'll take the saddlebags with me, and if I have a need for them, will put them on.
I've gone off to the Piggly Wiggly in a golf cart, but not a bicycle before. when opened all the way, those bags will hold
a half gallon of milk easily.
On my Honda175k5 I secured a folding milk crate to the rear rack. Folded down flat and could be used as a wide tray or flipped up and into a bin.

that sounds perfect
Small plastic folding crate
though for anything heavy, I guess it's better to have the weight lower on the bike.
Honda 175 is about three times stronger than this...

as a bunch of us watch the radar, made me stop procrastinating and ordered a battery backup sump pump.
If I'm going to be going away for weeks at a time, if power goes out in heavy rain, basement will flood.
basically a 2500 gph marine bilge pump hooked up to a group 27 AGM battery. With a built in battery charger, all nicely packaged.
I need a plumber to tie it into the existing sump pump. Want that one to work as normal, and this to come on only when power is lost.
I guess that involves some kind of plumbing y, a flapper valve?

also....this means I don't have to get out of bed in the middle of the night to fire up the generator if it's raining heavily.
If still out of power when I wake up, deal with it then. I know I can get a wifi alert on my phone also. I didn't get that option, KISS.

Storm hit, over 1” rain, most in very short time. It was very windy, corn all blown down.
No power. Tree down on road in front of house, but that’s only phone lines there. State cutting it now.

Good luck. Hope your power comes back soonest.

Just blew through here. Pretty impressive.

decided I needed some exercise, so went out and pushed the trim mower and then fed the birds.
Sat there with camera, no joy, hoped to catch two very pretty bright yellow birds who seem to like my new seed.

guess I'll get ready for the storm. Tornado alert just went up. Around here, usually means nothing.
Usually...
storm front still on other side of philadelphia, maybe I can sleep through it.

Got generator running fridge, light, and Starlink. Still thundering around
They just finished cutting tree in front of house, I took them out bottles of water. They said they were on to next one.
I heard someone cutting on road beside me also.
