welcome Corey and good morning.
you own a pretty rare tractor, very nice
View attachment 817356
I can remember when our Farmall 400 came to the farm. The Case VAC got traded in when she arrived. The Allis Chalmers WD went from being the big tractor to the small one. The 400 is still on the farm and still used occasionally. Ours is a narrow front and for many years it carried a JD trip bucket loader.

I went to our county fair tonight for a few hours and walked through the antique tractors and looked at the ones in that exhibit that we still use, the 400, 560,340, 656's, 1066 and a lone JD 4020. The JD 4430's aren't antique yet nor the 86 series or the boxcar Magnums.

Also no rain here in central Texas North of Austin. The rain sure looked good in Austin on the 5 o'clock news. We continue, 100˚ this afternoon, this evening 91˚, HI 98, 54% humidity.

Kyle, it looks like some parts of Lee county got rain, any luck at the home front?
In hometown, We got .1" in a matter of a few minutes. enough to knock the dust down.

In College Station, the temp at 5:45pm was 104F

had a worrisome evening last night. 23 years ago, I broke the bone in the tip of my ring finger. The joint at the distal phalange and the middle phalange. Had surgery w/stainless pins way back then to repair it. It's been fine since. Somehow, I injured it and my finger became numb at the tip, and tingles going up to my elbow. There seemed to be a red line on the palm side of my finger from the injury to the palm. I was extremely worried about infection, and got some anxiety, because it was almost 9:30 pm, and we live in a medical desert about an hour away from a decent ER. I was tired and feeling bad, not wanting to drive to an ER... (If you google infection and nerve damage, it will show up with a lot of bad possibilities.) My BP went up, I had overate and was bloated, (wife had made Mexican food) which added to feeling bad. Anyway, we prayed and I told her I had drank a lot of water and would be up multiple times to P throughout the night to monitor it. So about every 1.5-2 hours I woke up to P, and checked it... seemed to be not getting any worse, and my anxiety/bloating had gone down to where I felt better. This morning the numbness/tingling was still there so I went to the clinic. They sent me for an x-ray. X ray showed no breakage, but arthritis has set into the joint and the cartilage is gone. physician's assistant said with no cartilage, it is now prone to nerve damage if I bump it the wrong way, and that it might take weeks to subside. She said the tingling going up to my elbow is the ulnar nerve. I asked if situation could be made better somehow, she said my regular doc would have to order an MRI of the hand and they could look at the joint/nerves better, then maybe a hand surgeon could offer something....but she said don't put a lot of hope into that. She said to take ibuprofen, not necessarily for the pain, but for the inflammation. I haven't taken any yet. My finger is not so swollen anymore. The tingling is more of an annoyance than the pain. I told her a "1" on a scale of 10 for pain. After clinic appointment, I went to work and had a productive day with no mechanical type work.

Work was good. We have more kids that want to come to our school than we can handle Our dept is bursting at the seams. It is crazy glancing out the windows during a class change, and seeing the hustle and bustle of so many kids trying to get to their next class. Scooters, bicycles, mopeds, electric everything...even electric unicycles.

Here you go Drew!

Tomorrow is dentist day for the whole family.

Speaking of electric vehicles...remember when the insurance industry and "pollution experts" were responsible for the demise of the muscle car industry?

Todays electric vehicles can usually kick the muscle cars in the pants, when it comes to accelerating away from a stop light...also known as a drag race to some.

So why hasn't the insurance industry started killing off the Tesla industry yet?

And...in Texas, they have a law called "exhibition of acceleration" which is a judgement call by the police if they hear or see you squeal the tires leaving a stop sign or red light. So with electric vehicles, being quiet and having traction control, blowing past a gas engine vehicle, why don't they get ticketed? They are accelerating faster than anything on the road, and the insurance industry SHOULD come down on them because of this ability.....just wondering out loud.....

Don't get me wrong, I fully appreciate a working catalytic converter and not having to smell all those noxious fumes (unless it is AvGas 100LL or 2 stroke bean oil).

Maybe I'm just a bit envious because I can't afford a Tesla model S Plaid. With 1.99 seconds 0-60 time, 1040 horsepower, 200mph top speed. No 60's early 70's muscle car even came close, so what gives?

Next, I want electric cars to NOT get subsidies, and every year at annual licensing time, I want them to have to report their mileage and for it to be verified, so they have to pay the same road use tax that the rest of us have to pay when we buy fuel. Fair is fair. It's time to look at the long term ramifications of millions of lithium batteries and the infrastructure required to charge them. Dispose them. Mfg them. Mine them.

If someone wants to give me a Tesla Model S Plaid, I'll change my tune and shut up.

So please, if you hit the lottery, shut me up!

Hope it quick fix Check. 🤞
Fortunately, the honey wagon came this morning, and pumped out both chambers of the septic tank. That will hold things until Saturday when the renters move out, and then I will be getting a guy in to scope out the exit from the tank. Unfortunately, my guess is that tree roots in the septic field
are the problem.

/ Good morning!!!! #175,751
Sorry Check, Hope nothing serious.
Not to worry. The problem was just slow draining from the toilet. Nothing actually spilled inside the cottage. The water was all outside on top of the septic tank. So, no harm done to the building. but I fear that the septic field “weeping pipe“ is all clogged up, in which case I would have to dig it all out – yuck!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 63° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 88° with late morning thunderstorms. Got inside of chicken coop cleaned and ready for a coat of paint. Spent a couple hours at neighbors cherry tree clean up. Couple more hours of cleanup to complete the job. Then start chipping the pile of limbs. No plans for today yet.

Nice job, Drew
Did plumber check out your hot tub?
I wish....at what they charge they aren't getting close to it

good morning all
cooler morning, cloudy, high near 80.

PT this morning
Ron, is it more than a chicken coop now? why are you painting it?
I'd wear a mask in there...

maybe maybe if Popgadget gets home in time this afternoon might take rv up to get my new tail lights installed.
He's the only one I'll trust with this...

worked on rv yesterday with a pole mop and straight wash/wax, scrubbing and scrubbing to get black streaks off.
The part above the windshield is impossible to get to to wax without a giant ladder. Looks better, a major bug catcher part of rv.

hope you all have a nice day

Good Morning.
55 with partly cloudy skies, a high of 75 with 0% POP for today.
Another great day to be outside.

Yesterday didn’t follow the plan very well. It started with breakfast with the professor, filled the Prius with gas on the way home, as it said it had 8 miles till empty. Then off to Costco with the wife. When we got back, part for generator was there, so I installed it, and the generator works just like new.
But here is where things went off the rails. The transfer switch didn’t survive the lightning strike, and it is a 40 year old Onan switch. It’s infinitely better made than a new Generac switch, so I hate to replace it with one, plus that would be a fair amount of work. So I’m likely going bypass the fried controls and make it work with the signal voltage from the generator. Did some head scratching and exploring, and decided how I can do it, but haven’t done it yet.
I got called to attend factory training for the Wille 865 that the airport purchased, as the airport manager was sick and couldn’t make it.
It’s a pretty amazing and versatile machine, we got the 14’ plow, snow blower, rear sweeper and turbine blower for it. Should make short work of snow removal.

That took until 6pm, then had to hightail it home and get the sandblast mask cut out on the plotter that I had promised to get done. Once that was running, I revisited the generator to formulate the plan to get the control wiring from the generator to the transfer switch in the house, I’ll need that regardless which path I follow on the switch.
Got the mask all cut, the rock man came and picked it up, i called it a day.

This morning is another trip to Martha’s Vineyard, I will execute the wiring plan when I get back, I’m going to try to squeeze some work on Drew’s motor home in as well. At least I’m rarely bored.

And the silver lining in the storm cloud was that I talked to the insurance adjuster about my lighting damage, and making all the repairs myself. He was fine with that, and offered to use my labor to cover the deductible. That was totally unexpected, I was prepared for them to deny the claim.

I'd wear a mask in there...
At this time it will be a storage place for gardening supplies. I have used pieces of what may be considered scrap wood. Some of it painted different color. Some not painted. Will probably paint it white. I will wear a mask.

54 outside this AM, heading to mid 80's. 91% humidity. Rain may be moving in tonight and for Thursday/Friday. We could use it, bone dry, crunchy vegetation. I recall whining about grass a week or two ago. Mother Nature sure throws change ups.

Kyle, hope for the better, I think time is the enemy of us all. All those breaks and injuries seem to catch up to us later in life.

David, super nice job on plumbing. Clean, very clean.

Roofer should come by around lunch. Keeping fingers crossed that they can patch the Chimney hole. If not, I will tear it down and rebuild it. Not a fan of mortar and bricks, but you have to do what you must.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe. Those ailing, better health wishes for you.
