Good Morning,
Vt, 58 to start going to 77 with mostly sunny skies !

Frits, I’m jealous of you using your excavator! That thing looks ultra handy !

Drew, that deep fried catfish sounds delicious! I have had it and really like it !

Bill, thanks for the explanation! Also I remember you telling me your 6’ 4” tall or something like that ! That should detour most wanna be crooks ! I can’t imagine many crooks up that way anyway!

those experienced in repairing wood, what product should be used to fill them in. Thanks.
Don, I think Paul’s suggestion is good because the epoxy is clear and will match the color perfectly. But if you don’t want to take the door off, you can buy some wood puddy or filler and then very carefully match the color by adding drops of stain to the filler until the color matches ! That might be a viable option rather than taking the door off !

We had a lovely afternoon on the lake with our friends, water is still warm and enjoyed swimming ! Probably more of that today !

Glad Rigby is Ok !

Hope all have a great Friday ! 🙏

Good morning, the low is 51 and going to a high of 81°F. Wind NW 5 mph. Sunny!

Today I think I will cut the grass.

Don, I think I would lay the door flat, use a dremel to chew out the shiny stuff that is in the cracks and epoxy like Pop G said.
I wonder, if you mix your epoxy 'hot' enough and in small batches if it would 'kick' fast enough to not run all over the rest of the door. Would take some experimenting.

I don't see many frogs here, but I sure do hear them in the evenings.
I usually spook a few toads when I cut the grass. I try NOT to cut them. They are usually low enough to the ground that I pass right over them. 3" cut height.

Pop G, why do you leave your certifications to the last minute? Wouldn't they be better to 'do' on a rainy day?

BEF, that is what usually gets me out of bed and into the can, real quick!

If the wind picks up a little after the grass cutting I may get at the tree stump I am slowly rotting away and add some more epsom salts to the cuts. Still wish I could get some potassium nitrate (salt peter).
Commercial liquid stump rot is about as useful as teats on a bull.

Time to get on with my day.

Have a safe day all
We had years ago 3 large stumps cut down as low as possible and I was on travel so wife was taking this on after getting some high priced quotes for grinding them down. She made a small fire on top of them every morning while enjoying first cup of coffee and in a matter of a few weeks all gone

Was watching a youtube video of a guy in Highland county VA, who has had his roadside stand robbed at least 24 times by the same guy. He kept putting up more and more cameras, and finally got license plate of the guy doing it. He even had cameras stolen, along with money and products. Man I hate thieves. My neighbor has a roadside stand, I need to ask them if they get stuff stolen.
I don't have to worry about it, we end up giving away our extra produce.

The restored theater back home, where I grew up, had it's door glass broken the other night. They got a video of the vehicle. They already have a suspect.

This is one of 4 cracked knots in an outside door. For those experienced in repairing wood, what product should be used to fill them in. Thanks.

Don, do you care if it matches perfectly? There is stuff out there that will outlast the rest of the door, but it may not take stain exactly like the wood.

.....And it does harden like a rock! With this stuff, you "paint" a grain with the stain and just let it dry. No wiping.
This was the best I found for outdoor repairs

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High 103F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.

Ever pay $2,500 for a battery? I'm buying two of them ... ahhhh.
I paid a dollar a Watt hour for the 25 kWhr battery backup on the solar power system here, but I didn't get a break down for the Tesla PowerWall down south. Worth every penny.

I found a kit of crayon like sticks in different wood colors, and have used it to fill holes in finished cabinets, Don. Not sure where it came from, but probably Home Depot. Not sure how well it would hold up outdoors, though. Black epoxy would probably work, but you'd end up refinishing the whole door unless you're super careful with masking and application.

Spent a little more time screening insurance companies yesterday morning, then called a realtor friend of mine for some advise. He said the market in the San Francisco Bay Area really pulled back after Father's Day this year, and none of the five listings he's managing has had much interest or traffic. He thinks the hot weather is partially to blame, along with the big price and interest rate jumps. I asked about him taking my place on, but he explained that he has to be a member of the MLS on which his listings appear, so that's a no-go. He left me with the feeling I shouldn't be in any hurry to put my place on the market until the weather cools off a bit. But by then we'll be heading into the holidays, so it might be wise to wait until next year. UGH.

Yesterday the Park Fire grew from 15,000 acres to 164,000 acres, spreading mostly north but also widening, covering an area roughly 15 miles by 25 miles. The terrain is steep with deep drainages, so ground crews are having a tough time of it. There are three Very Large Tankers working the fire, along with numerous smaller airplanes, helicopters, and an army of bulldozers and fire crews. Approximately 4,400 people have been evacuated from the communities of Chico, Cohasset and Forest Ranch. Regrettably, it was announced that the fire was started by an arsonist who lit his car then pushed it down a sixty foot embankment into a heavily wooded gully. That person was apprehended and is now awaiting a hearing. So far numerous structures have been lost, but no one has yet perished.

This was the view from my front yard yesterday afternoon. The heel of the fire is about 20 miles distant and the head is moving north, away from me. A new Red Flag Warning is in effect until 11 PM, with elevated temperatures, very low humidity, and winds out of the south, gusting to 30 MPH.

TGIF gang!

Good morning! Low of 58°, going to 88° today, 70% chance of T-storms. Not a cloud in the sky right now.....

Did get a brief sprinkle last evening, but not enough to register in the gauge.

RNG, we watched the news reports on the Park fire. Looks really bad. High winds don't help. Why would somebody do that? -- crazies....

Drew, good to read the trip going well and the shimmy was cured.

Buppies, try to stay cool (right, on hot asphalt). Be careful and have a safe trip home.

Abbreviated post this morning, need to get the truck prepped and a few other things done....
Need to get moving...

Everyone have a great day!

repair in progress for the AC. First up was cleaning of the blower wheel. It was pretty dirty from I suppose the wood burning during winter. Easy to see that the small passages can plug up. Hosed it out and applied cleaning solution and hosed off again
