Good morning! The lions head fountain flows again! 79˚F heading to the mid 90s, S wind, sunny skies, no rain for next 10 days, now we are getting the weather we are use to in August.

Almost feel like planting a date tree today but maybe just start on digging the hole before noon.

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. Areas of smoke reducing visibility at times. High around 100F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Checked the air and oil on the van yesterday, neither one needing adjustment. Loaded a few things, and it's ready for the road.

While I was fixing all those holes in the garage walls I noticed that someone had left an open hole in the top of one of the solar inverter boxes about 2 3/4" across. I found a fitting at HD to drop the diameter to 2", and a 2" sheetmetal plug that I glued in. The glue was dry yesterday so I installed it. The box was high up on the wall and without a ladder I'd never have seen it. Would not have been good for a home inspector to find. Another screw up by the solar contractor.

Yesterday the laptop that monitors the weather station and posts the data to Weather Underground started making a dinging bell sound. I couldn't correlate it to any activity on the laptop, or find anything in the notifications settings that would cause it. Shut the thing down and restarted, and the noises stopped. But that's an hour of time I'll never see again.

Got a question on the firewood that's for sale: How much wood is on a pallet? I was pretty detailed in the ad with dimensions of the actual volume occupied by the wood, so I just repeated the description back to the asker. Guess you could say I don't tolerate fools well, and the less time wasted on them the better. Another genius offered $500 on a trailer I'd like to get $750 for. All the ads state "lowball offers will be ignored". So I did.

Tried to cook ribs on the portable grill, but couldn't get it down to 225F like I wanted, even by throttling back the valve on the propane bottle. Ended up cooking them at 400F for about an hour, indirect, so temp at the meat was probably much less. Came out OK, but I won't try that again until I find a way to tone down the burners. A good BBQ sauce will hide a lot of sin.

I've seen a few concerts, and remember even fewer. Way back then lasers were a new thing, and made the Yes and ELP concerts really stand out. I'll also never forget the rig Kieth Emerson used to play his grand piano upside down. I have no desire to go to a big show like those today. Too many rude people and music much too loud to enjoy.

Got a long drive today, but it'll be nice to get out of this heat.

Happy Hump day, folks!

Took a lot of bird seed to train one Blue Jay. 🙄🤠
We have 5 or 6 Blue Jays here. If a couple of handful's of peanuts aren't on the deck by the prescribed time, they send their spokesman in and he raises Cain until they are. Then flight operations similar to O'Hare take place until the peanuts are gone. Quite the show.

Good morning! Low of 67°, going up to 95°. No chances of rain until tomorrow, then 50% chance.

The cast iron pans "seasoned" very well. Haven't tried them to cook anything yet, hopefully they do good. Wifey won't let me touch her well seasoned, 60 year old, cast pan from her Great Grandmother. I don't blame her.....

Need to run a few local errands this morning. Drip irrigation started already, that's probably all that will be getting done today.

Heading out to the porch now, BIL likes how quiet it is. We can get an hour in before it gets too hot.

mowed the lawn, which was needed but at least I don't have to trim.
That's next week.

have some errands to run, low on motivation.
might have to treat myself and find an ice cream place for lunch after errands done.
heat warning posted, likely due to heat index and humidity
seems normal for this time.

made up about six batches of miracle grow watering can water
and spot fertilized veggies and some flowers. It makes the tomatoes greener quickly.
this will be my last fertilizing as I think that just promotes vining and not blossoming.

ordered another battery waterer. Amazon says I ordered this same one in 2022.
have looked everywhere, except of course where it is. Must have fell down behind something.
so I ordered another. I like the type where the water filler cap is on top and you don't have to touch the
part that has had battery acid on it. My golf cart took an entire gallon of water and no leaks underneath like last time.
I need to do this the old fashioned way and not use the autowater system. The latter sucks water out of a gallon
of distilled water. but you have zero idea what the water level is or whether one cell took
a lot more water.

do the cells nearest the terminals use/consume more water?

poor California, on fire again.
guess I'd better talk to my sister and see if she is getting smoke.
RNG be careful as usual

Scootr turns out to be really far South so this may not affect him.
my path goes pretty far North of him
in two months I'm going to be driving in this.
actually I sure hope not.

hard to believe some fool lit a car on fire, for whatever reason, and sent it down in a gully and set the whole area on fire.
which is now a very, very big area.
more apocalypse now pictures coming in

maybe RNG will help me rig up an external fire suppression system for the rv.

makes me wonder about air filter built into rv ac unit. Cheesy lightweight stuff,
wondering if I can fab a layer of charcoal filter in with it, problem is that's suction and can't reduce it
too much. At least it pulls from inside the rv not outside.
I just put in a new filter. Now makes me think I should armor up for smoke

Thomas, I need you to train Big Boss to be nice like Boo.View attachment 882773
A cattle electric fence does a fairly good job of training those damned things.

edited to add;
never was much of a concert goer, saw the Mandrell Girls when they were the intermission show at a rodeo, went to a farm aid concert several years ago at the Saratoga race track, and went to a Darius Rucker concert a few years back and that was about it for big name groups.

Good Morning,
Ct, 71 to start going to 82, with on and off rain ! I see that northern Vermont was hit very hard with heavy rain and flooding! Looks like it will be a drive in the rain today.

Ron, nice blue Jay pic today !

Bill, at 6’5” you can get away with that ! I have to be a bit more cautious! 😉😀

🙏
Some people have a hard time understanding me because my tongue is so short (from biting my tongue). No more of that crap, I calls it like I see it. If I think it is bovine scatterings, I say so.

Wire the electric fence into 110 volts. A GOOD zap or two will smarten them up.

Engineer; let the cat out at the same time you feed the Blue Jays and watch the fun as they dive bomb the cat.;)

No cat to let out. The beagle does sit at the sliding glass door and watch from inside though.
