Good Morning
62° and clear, hazy, but clear, high in the upper 80’s.

Yesterday was another productive day, insulation almost done, fireplace moving along, I got the hardware on all the doors, and rekeyed them to use the same key as the main house. Lots of detail work, like making the block for the POE doorbell camera to mount on, so it blends into the cedar siding. Put the columns on the front porch, and lots of other things that will make it a better job when it’s all done.
Put the loader on the tractor and hauled trash out of the old folks home to the dumpster.

The code required R49 in the ceiling, the insulation contractor suggested 3” of foam and then 6” of unfazed fiberglass, which actually yields a bit more.

Today they are supposed to deliver the Sheetrock, they say it will all get hung tomorrow. I’ll miss that part, as I’ll be Iron Mountain, MI on the UP for most of the day.
That means I’ll miss Ken’s pool party (with the BBQ truck) as well.

Good Morning,
Ct,65 to start going to 83 or so with humidity!

Engineer, thanks for all those great pictures! Years ago I went to the Canadaigua Pagent of Steam, upstate Ny. That was a great show, some of the old steam tractors were just amazing ! They actually were actively plowing out in the field ! Loved it !

Thomas, yes indeed on those prices ! The center spindle a couple years ago on my Wheel Horse was $126 and that didn’t include the stepped pulley on the top of the spindle ! It was an expensive fix !

Later today we are headed to northern Connecticut for a wedding, Kathleens cousins daughter is getting married ! Bonfire party tonite and wedding tomorrow! Expensive weekend! 😉

Hope all have a Good Friday! 🙏

Really enjoy all the pictures. Keep them coming!

Headed to our CA ranch today. I will check trail cams to see if I have any wildlife pix to share ....

Rigby did better at puppy class yesterday, a relief. Good interactions with other pups but still not 100% confidence. We turned him loose in a large arena with a black lab pup and they ran, and ran, and ran. Mostly the lab pup chasing him but Rigby learned he is faster-- fairly lean and long legs.

Funny, everyone in class comments that the "other" pups have visibly grown each week. You don't see it in your own pup since you see them every day, but you see it in others after only 1 week. They grow that fast.

Everyone have a great day !!!

Good morning! 78˚F before sunrise another 100˚ day.

I was able to work outside yesterday on estate property till noon then it was fruitless because of too many mandatory cool down breaks. The combination of cold V-8, watermelon, water and a magnesium pill worked well and no problem sleeping and no leg cramps. A metal cistern that was had been blown over and leaning on the house was emptied by punching a hole in the bottom to drain the water, a tree had to be trimmed because the branches were on the cistern and a section of fence had to be removed to roll the cistern out of the yard. Temps were 100˚ by 3pm.

When I got home I aired up my new pedal lounger and headed to the pool. As soon As I sat on the lounger it popped because the petal rod pierced the side. I Did a fast wobbly sink, should have gotten a video of me floundering as the lounger was bubbling and collapsing.

Good morning, the low is 57 and going to a high of 75°F. Wind ENE 2 mph. Clear right now but a 60% chance of showers.

Yesterdays ride went good, my legs paid the price so much so that other than going outside twice to check on the charger I did nothing after I got home.
The battery on the trike was down to 35% when I got home. Put it on charge and let it go up to 95%.
The charger gets quite hot. So hot that I balanced it on one of the pedals in order for it to get some more air around it.
Gotta look for my good tire gauge today so I can lower the air in the back tires a pound or two. The book calls for 30 lbs for all three, but that has only 1.25" of tire contact with the road with me on the seat. The tires are 4" across the face.

Went to bed at 21:30 hours and and now up early, 04:00.

Engineer, is the fairing on the Shepard to keep the seat dry or is it so the tractor can go faster in the field?

mostly, Love the shirt.

Ron, enjoy the tractor show. Try to stay dry.

Have a safe day all

Neither Bill. They are referred to as orchard fenders. Sweeps branches back to avoid breaking them.

Good morning! Low of 58°, heading to 93°, sunny.
....soon to be repeated for a week!

Engineer, thanks for posting all the old iron pics. Really cool tractors.

Dennis, probably good to tell them "go around". Sounds like they wanted the best parts!

Buppies, hope you are managing well.

So, get a call from the daughter yesterday afternoon.... she was driving the jeep and it suddenly overheated..... more troubleshooting over the phone from hours away.
Guess who has been driving the jeep for the last 6 months? .... yep....

I guess some more frustration is in the cards today.

The idiot finally bought his own car, he can destroy that one... I give him 6 months....

I really just don't understand how

Have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High 96F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Sorry you're having to deal with the car problems, Ted. Some people just can't be bothered to even check the oil, let alone tire pressure, or stop driving when one of those little lights on the dash comes on.

Neat tractors, Tom. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore.

Got back up to the gate yesterday morning before it got too hot and dug out the holes where the old fence posts were pulled from yesterday. On the hole where the concrete was left in place, I used a shop vac to suck out the dirt and gravel. Had lots of clogs from the gravel, but it was easy to shake them out of the hose once it was disconnected from the vac. While I was up there I made some measurements and a drawing of the post layout, then put together a list of lumber and hardware I then took to Home Depot. There I returned the unused PVC fittings from the pump house repair. Also exchanged a can of yellow spray paint at Tractor Supply, and learned that the price had gone up a couple bux, so I had to make up the difference. The new can doesn't match, either, so I'm not sure what to do now. Maybe stop by the automotive paint dealer next week and get a paint matched can made.

By the time I got home it was 6PM and I didn't feel much like cooking. The burrito I wolfed down at my favorite roach coach got the blame for that. Settled for some chips and salsa and a cold one while I watched another episode of "The Queen's Gambit", a Netflix series I started earlier in the week. I'm not much into chess, but I liked seeing the '60s cars and listening to the 60's era music.

If I'm lucky today I'll get three new posts set up at the gate, and maybe replace some rails on the other side where I'm reusing the existing posts. It all depends on if I have the right tools and don't run out of hardware.

TGIF gang!

Cripes! Just learned that there was a bomb threat yesterday morning at the grocery store I visited in town. An employee found it scrawled on an outside wall at about 4AM. The police were called but they couldn't find anything to substantiate the threat. There was nothing in the way of a notice or sign by the time I got there to let people know about it, either. Sleepy little Chico isn't so sleepy anymore. Just another reason for getting out of there.

Morning all, 68 going up to 90 and sunny.,
Did get a bunch of stuff out of the garage and cleaned up, all while being watched by that Buck that's been hanging around.
Wifes car tire seems to have destructed, will need a new one, very strange.

Mostly - great tshirt!

Have fun Ron- keep trying to get to the grange to see the tractors there at the local festival. Maybe Sunday.

Busy today rearranging the yard for this weekends party. Looks like it will be dry -

Be well,

Got thru the morning lawyer call, then reached a verbal agreement on a route that is acceptable to us.
Their first response from yesterday put the pipeline directly thru our water well. 🙄
So lawyer got the pipeline people on the phone and we got it done.
But, I know once they send their surveyors back, they will try to change it again.

71°F and .18 inches rain.

Off to Hilo this morning for Sophie’s ophthalmologist followup. Been a week.

And then the Vet. Both Kekoa and Makani semi annual check up.

God teased me with his sense of humor yesterday. Mowing nicely when the clouds rolled in and drizzle started. Quite wet by the time I got tractor parked, but stopped by time I walked to house. Back out a bit later, made 2 1/2 circuits and repeat except this time grass really wet. Cycle repeated but I didn’t fall for it. Maybe this afternoon I can finish.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

76F and cloudy @ 13:00, calling for a high of 82F for the day.

Got right tank on Cub refilled a couple of days ago, mowed most of areas down here around the house ... except for the really dry, dusty areas underneath the trees where the grass doesn't grow much anyways and I still need to pick up sticks.

Attempted to pull three 4 x 4 posts where the dog kennel used to be behind the garage. They wouldn't budge and ended up breaking off flush with the ground. Hauled those up to the pallets next to the shop. Will make it easier to mow.

Rescreened the material in the pile that had been through the screen once and got rid of that.

Then back to screening unscreened compost. Still plenty left to go.

Hauled 6 bucketloads of screened material down to new planting area on the north end of the west planting bed and dumped it.

Woman sent me a picture the other day: Swamp Milkweed doing the job attracting the Monarchs ... (y) :

IMG_2524 copy.jpg

Woman expressed concern there was a snotload of bugs on the Swamp Milkweed and was worried it might be those invasive Spotted Lanternflys and wondered if She should be spraying them ...

Turns out it was just Large Milkweed Bugs (Oncopeltus fasciatus)... which aren't anything to be concerned about:

IMG_3392 copy.jpg

Went out and picked up 4 gallons of diesel for the Kubota on Wednesday and got it refueled.

Sprayed weeds along the edge of the driveway down here by the house, emptying one sprayer yesterday.

Put out some cracked corn and peanuts for the ground feeders.

Hauled down another bucketload of screened compost for the new planting area and got that all spread out:

IMG_3393 copy.jpg

Should be ready to go for planting.

Did some pruning on the low branches on the one arborvitae in the picture above, hauled the trimmings around back to the brush pile.

Hooked up the water buffalo and brought it up and watered the small "volunteer" arborvitae that was coming up.

Swapped out the Light Material bucket and put the pallet forks on.

Hauled the 3 trunk stump from the maple tree that was recently taken down on the east side of the garden up to the compost/woodlot.

Then moved the 10 deck joists that were sitting out front on saw horses over to the barn so that I could work on them while it's raining.

Loaded up the sawhorses in the dump cart and hauled those over after that.

Took the live trap over to the barn and set and baited it.

Refilled that one sprayer with glyphosate.

Woman was out weeding the flower bed this morning, also picking veggies and brought in a bucket of those.

Grass has really greened up with all the rain we had a while back, more rain over the next few days should help keep it green.

Front lawn has grown enough that it needs mowed again ... 🤬 ... so that might be on the agenda for today.

Check live trap for customers.

Otherwise see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)
