Good morning!!!!

Good Afternoon! 102˚F the hottest day of the year, so far, the good news is that the humidity is only 31% so the heat index is also 102˚, the bad news is the humidity is low and plants are getting crispy and today is Monday we cannot water outside because of water restrictions.

Good news also from my cardiologist appointment this morning, I got clearance for surgery next week.

Good news on my wife's treadmill - it does not have to go to the land fill, she found the problem after I took it apart. The movers did not plug in the hidden control module wire when they unplugged it but forgot to plug it back in when reassembled.

No rain for the last 25 days and none predicted for the next 10.

does it have any special features? A hidden knife? A moose whistle?...
canes can be very cool
It is a Hawthorn root cane with a form fitted left handle. Very comfortable.
A hidden knife makes it a weapon. Not a weapon until someone accosts me and then the cane itself will become a weapon and the offending persons' crotch will get the brunt of the swing. 36" long, I can get some good tip speed. ;)

landlady called, wonderful call, successful colon cancer surgery and she is home and ok.
I sent her a get well card which she appreciated.

my route has me stopping for lunch at Puccini's Restaurant in Cumberland MD on Wed Oct 28
unfortunately that seems pretty far West of our crew, but I know it was recommended.
plus it's right on the way before coming through town and looks like easy on and off the main road.
Mighty hilly areas, I bet it's pretty. Or I guess it deserves being called mountainous...

North Branch of Potomac River goes through town where it turns into a creek.

I will be coming back up 81 for quite a ways, hope to see Buppies and others then.
I'll either really have the itch to get home or maybe don't want it to end.

Puccini, Get off at Exit 47 and turn left, there is a Love's Truck stop right there, it's just past it. Park in one of the red area's. I have taken a trailer up front, but usually park on the left side if I'm towing the trailer. The front faces the interstate.
Cumberland is an interesting and historical town. Was originally a fort / trading post on the western frontier. George Washington went thru several times, on his early trips west. Potomac river keeps going to the SW, does not turn into a creek.
Has steam train that departs there. is the head of the C&O Canal. I have biked it from there all the way to National Airport in DC. West from there the the Allegheny Passage, a former RR now a Trail that goes to Pittsburg PA.

Got home from trip to Nashville, and visit to my oldest son.. Did visit the TN state fair on friday night, and met son's new girlfriend. She is nice.

buppies, I waved as I drove past.
Nice weather, but hit some brief rain showers in places, one heavy.

Came back a day early, as my youngest son had to drive my truck to work today, as the Honda pilot has a blinking D. Code is P0847 which is transmission sensor switch B. Most likely culprit is the sensor or wiring. Hopefully that is right, and not the transmission. I fooled with it for about an hour after getting home. Did add just a little transmission fluid as it could be caused by low fluid, and seemed to be just under the fill area on the dipstick. However, transmission wasn't hot either, like it's supposed to be to measure. Need to find the sensor to check the wiring and connector.

Was going to visit a couple, one of our saturday breakfast crew, in Gatlinburg, where they have a cabin for the week, and had a spare room.. But they understood...

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 4.5C and it's presently 13.4C, overcast with an occasional light breeze.

Last evening's meeting was good and went quickly; home by 1800.

Prior to the meeting I contacted the Church's preferred electrician and he agreed to meet me on Wednesday, @ 0830, to look at/estimate one job and then certify the power circuit (wiring & amps) for a new oven/range in the Rectory. The oven/range is already here so we'll be able to install it once everything is approved.

I'll then carry-on with my regular 'into town' day's mail/groceries extravaganza.

Nothing planned for today, though, so;

That's about it, take care all.

I think this is the third time for my mom, 93. She's been avoiding salt, but her system just isn't flushing out the fluid fast enough, and she waited too long to finally go the hospital. The ADT "help I've fallen and can't get up" device really works...she said she was too weak to even dial phone numbers. Much better now, and appetite strong.
Glad to hear she's better. You have a cutie grand daughter and a filthy pup. :) Both will keep you busy and wear you out. Let Della wear out GD while you drink cold lemonade on the porch!

School went great this AM. Met a couple students starting their junior year, and have to take some classes in our program. Great kids. Worked on some spreadsheet work....I believe we have some labs "double booked", meaning 2 classes at once trying to use them....will alert the powers that be.

So many young people, all excited about being back at school is a good thing. Football season soon. Very soon. Hope our team is ready for it. New coaches, lot of young players, lost a lot to NFL. Hope the offensive line is better this year. SEC is the real deal, will expose any weaknesses quickly. Athletic program made 6 million this summer, just playing 1 soccer game and 1 really big concert that packed the stadium. Some of y'all might have heard about that.

Don, hope all goes well.

Rigby watch TiK Toc challenges? I've heard of tide pods, but not brillo pads. Glad he's alright. I'd be worried about the small steel wool leaving filaments behind, but I guess they would rust and pass with stomach acids?

Lou, that's an oldie and goodie, but if like other Internationals, the TA's are often out. My buddy bought an old 706 over 20 years ago for $250, and put a few things on it over the years. The TA just finally went completely out. Have to split it to repair it.

I've always wondered if big 2WD tractors would work in the snow. I've taken a 1936 Allis Chalmer 2WD into deep sand and it just plowed along no problem. Even though it had a wide front end, I almost flipped it getting it back up a slope. I was a young dummy then. Ignorant beyond all belief. God saved me another time. Reading Drew's story about the 16 yo brings it back to memory. I was maybe 17. Decided wheelying tractors wasn't a great way to keep living. Prefer wheelying motorcycles.

I hope all of y'all have a blessed day.

My old Farmall 340 did a good job plowing snow with a 7' Myers snow plow on front. Used it for 30 years for that and other projects. Only put tire chains on a couple of times after ice storms.

Good morning, the low temperature is 45 and going to a high of 68°F. Wind NNW 9 mph. Mix of sun and cloud.

Junior will be going to town today and I will go to the dump. We'll do that after the seat gets adjusted. The new roof will NOT be going on today, but maybe tomorrow. I am not steady enough on my pins to hold a 20x30 canvas tarp in the wind.
That is the only game plan for today.

Have a safe day all

good morning all
except for you hotheads in Texas, looks like the rest of us are cooling off a little.
67 out now, high of 80

having breakfast with old school board friend, then home to tackle a few projects.
Think I will finally start lining the rv engine hood with sound insulation, first have to clean all the things I had stored
in the big plastic piece that comes off. A bit awkward to get out of rv through the doors, takes up a lot of room.

will also continue to work waxing the rv, got about a third of it done yesterday. I still don't have a good solution for the oxidized fiberglass
over the windshield, I've slopped lots of wash and wax on it but not much improvement. Short of buffing it all with compound, don't think it's coming back. And I have plenty of experience buffing oxidized fiberglass and it's not easy. The rest of the rv looks pretty shiny for five years old.
I picked this model because of this fiberglass, solid roof and end caps so less leaking issues. That front part gets the sun and road wear and makes rest of rv look less nice. Not sure of the solution yet since I don't levitate...

talk is turning to snow, oh dear...

Don, sorry I goofed that up, hope shoulder procedure a good fix.

Have good day all.

got any gold bars at home?
hope you do
400 oz bar is now worth one million dollars, a record.

really kind of amazing this metal has held its value for so long.

hmmm, this also means that if you have any old gold jewelry you never got rid of
this is likely a good time to cash it out. Sell high...

got any gold bars at home?
I will check under the sofa cushions. Maybe one of my past guests dropped one out of their pocket. I certainly don't have any! 😄

"Burning Man" festival will start soon near me in NV. It's always a very interesting week because you bump into all sorts of counter-culture people and vehicles. It typically is a sellout, but this year it is not. Last year was a disaster with flooding rainstorms and people stuck in the mud in RV's. Part of the entertainment I guess. I've never been to it and probably never will.

50F going to a nice 85F. Today is flood irrigation day for the pasture-- 85F is a really nice temp for doing that.

Everyone have a great day !!!
