Review of GD's college plans and preparation did not go well. The application was filled out wrong resulting in minimum financial support, she missed deadlines for scholarships, did not save her money from after school work etc

She and our daughter needed this reality check for sure. Our financial support depends on them doing the right thing.
They left with a to-do list with weekly follow up
Sounds like my daughter.
She didn't have her HS send a transcript at the correct time. Then tried to hand deliver a transcript, only to be told "It has to come direct from the HS in the US mail"...
I told her to retake the SAT to try and score higher but she drug her feet giving excuses.

Now, she is working at Starbucks, and getting free online college from Arizona State U. But she seems in no hurry on that either, taking the summer off from classes. She's at that age where I can't tell her much. But I love her to bits. Most people have to find out things for themselves.

Hope all have a blessed day, prayers to our team members.

Good Morning
51° and mostly cloudy. High in the upper 70’s with rain likely later in the day, possibly heavy with thunderstorms.

Yesterday’s trip to Palm beach didn’t go as planned. Our planned departure time was 3:30, we didn’t leave until 6:06,our departure time was pushed back twice due to ATC delays for weather and traffic in Florida.
We had already planned on bringing back two “stowaways” that we brought down on our empty leg on Friday.
We got a text from my copilots cousin on the way down, saying it was a long shot, but was there any chance he would be coming back from FL last night. She had no idea that we were on our way there when she asked.
At any rate, her daughter, son in law, grandson and SIL’s mother were in Palm Beach and the same delays that impacted us, canceled their airline flight home, leaving them stranded until Tuesday. So our return flight had 4 more passengers and lots of luggage.
Lots of lightning and weather, but we went around or over all of it. Landed at Philly uneventfully about 12:30, I met Zoe at the door around 2am.

Here’s a nice view of a UPS delivery vehicle we saw as we were climbing out over VA.

Today’s plan is to work on the pad for the shed, not much else planned.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:00AM. Generally cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 61F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph.
Looks like March is going out like a slightly damp lamb this year.

Speaking of lambs, anyone heard from Eric, the English sheepherder lately?

Thanks for the reminder on the hummingbirds, Happy. I cleaned out the fridge up north the last trip, bringing down a couple gallons of nectar. Need to dig out and hang a couple feeders down here to see what comes around.

Yesterday was tax day. Ended up underwitheld as usual, seems to get a little worse every year. Hate to make quarterly payments, but I may have to start doing it. Quality problem. Also looks like the file for the '23 taxes got corrupted and somehow I don't have a backup or even a paper copy. So I'll have to re-enter the data, like starting all over again. I was able to download a sheet from the IRS with the data, but it's not a 1040, more just like a list of numbers with cryptic labels. Might mean something to them, but not me.

While looking for paperwork, I found a scrap of paper on which was written the combination for a very old rolling floor safe that used to belong to my step grandfather. I had lost track of that combination more than fifteen years ago, but have been hanging on to the safe just in case I found it. The dial had gotten quite stiff, but I was able to get the door open. Nothing inside it but stale Ohio air.

In the same pile of paperwork was a stack of United States series EE savings bonds that I'd completely forgot about. One was still bearing interest, but the stack amounted to about $1500. Helps take the edge off the underwitholding.

Zillow says the old home listing has accumulated 590 views with over 200 of them from just yesterday. 48 folks saved a copy of the listing. First showing is today. Fingers crossed for a quick sale, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hope everyone's week gets started off on the right foot...

If what is seen on your listing is any indication of finding a buyer. It should not be listed long.

Good Morning to All Who Celebrate! Currently 60° with rain and thunderstorms forecasted going to a high of 72°. Was wet when I left for work this morning.

I went over to Grandma's the night before I was going up to look at the land, went to show them the listing: PENDING

GRRRRR..... This has easily been the most frustrating experience of my life. Apparently if you don't move the same day, there's just no chance. Boss has kindly allowed me to take the day off when I find property again.

So, instead of the drive, I found myself sitting on the old Ford beating brush:
22.jpg

She looks pretty good for being older than me. While brush hogging, found the remains of a 6-pt buck. Now I understand why the dog was going ape every time we walked her by that area. So I'll have to deal with that at some point. Then up to the cabin to process some wood for grandma and aunt. Was rewarded with a good meal and a long walk. Farm boss wouldn't start, so I need to tear into that at some point. Maybe need to straight up replace the air filter?

Sunday, Grandma came by again for lunch and a walk. Dog was happy. Folks came back at around 4. Nephew apparently didn't sleep well, so no one slept well. They were happy, but tired.

Mainly plan on sitting out the storms, might get some brush hogging done later this week, put the buck in a sinkhole with the bucket and bury him. Need to look at the Farm Boss maybe this evening or the next.

Y'all Stay safe out there and be well!
Prayers for those ailing and recovering!

Morning all, 63 going to 76 and light rain.
Got the front bed raked and the mulch out.
Cleaned up all the old plant pots from last year.
Another 4 carts full of leaves and such.
Next to mulch the garden, once things dry out a bit.

Scotty - that's Drews Gravely with none other than Drew next to it.

Truck at garage waiting for new tires and inspection.

Sorry to hear Buppies, hoping things get better.

Be well,

69°F and 0 rain

A beautiful sunny morning here, the kind that makes one just happy to be alive.

Nothing too strenuous planned. A bit of maintenance on Sophie’s BX. I should start mowing another area. Some clean up from weekend.

Happy hour in town this afternoon

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

40°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 53° today.

Rained pretty much all weekend here. We had some rumbly stuff overnight Friday night, light rain all day Saturday, then more rough stuff off and on Sunday. No damage this time.

We get a couple of dry days today and tomorrow, then more rain for the next five days. Looks like the tractor is staying put for awhile.

I definitely miss Eric contributions here, RNG. His sense of humor has been quite entertaining over the years. He's been missing for awhile. Sure hope he's OK.

Good afternoon, gents.

weather forecast now saying multiple inches of rain tonight and getting emails from electric company
to be prepared for outage. Lots of rain plus dead ash trees means power lines down.
decided to chill out this afternoon; tomorrow will be busy enough moving rv out, think I'll just enjoy my book
until the rains come

and since my gen is not automatic, will leave flashlights handy

glad I got those pavers installed near the garden shed, all this rain would have washed out the new topsoil there.
grass seed is going to love it though. I see a number of rainy days in the week's forecast.

David, glad you got a dry day and can just enjoy yourself in sunshine, get a few hours of good seat time in

Took my wife out for lunch, which means I accompanied her on her trip to Costco..lol
After spending my Costco rebate, I changed my membership to the lower cost one, which doesn't give the rebate. I didn't earn enough last year for the rebate to pay the cost. I shop there a lot less after the debacle last December, and the rude manager that didn't give a crap about customer service. Todays customer service rep tried to get my to keep the expensive membership of course, I pointed out how packed the place always is, the long lines, and how there is never enough parking. Way too many people.
We had a nice lunch at Mission BBQ. I got the smoked cheeseburger again.
Then we went to Sams Club, so she could get her card there, then we shopped some more. I made note of the much smaller crowd, pretty much all the same items, same price, and much better parking. Then I showed her how easy it was to check out compared to Costco.
Then a walmart stop before getting home. Then I remembered I had pharmacy items to get, so I ran back out.....

Did do a little on the deck afterwards, taped the joists at the end, so I can start to install the new end pieces. Pulled a string line to measure out how far the lower deck will be from back of garage. Good thing I didn't set the upper deck post yet, still not in right place.
Stopped with a storm approaching, now starting to rain a little.

Buppies, hang in there.

I wondered why the house was cool this morning, 65°F, (I keep the place at 72) pushed the reset button on the Beckett burner and heard click, click, click. Called the burner service guy and fired up the wood furnace. Burner guy spent more time yakking than it did to replace the coupler that went for a dump. $242.oo After hours service call $160.oo+coupler+fuel to get here from Powassan=$242.oo Talked to him about using Power service as an anti-gel. Basically turned him onto PS. He has been using Methyl Hydrate. I don't like MH because it will rot rubber. Now I don't have to scramble to get winter oil in April after the refineries are changing over to summer oil. I'll just get summer oil and dump a couple of gallons of PS into the big tank.
Right after he left I went out and scraped some more slush off the driveway/parking area. 2 hours at that and am now back inside.
The freezing rain so far amounted to 1/8". My tire chains broke it up nicely.
That's one reason I have a considerable stock of Beckett burner parts on hand. They seem to only go out in the worst of times and after hours.
From the oil pumps to the ignition transformers including the little coupler to drive the oil pump.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 10.0C and it's presently 15.9C, overcast with a breeze (at times, gusting). There was 2.2mm in the gauge @ 0900. Some misty precipitation continuing.

I received a call yesterday at noon about a sign site out at Binalong Bay, so I accomplished that. As there was off'n'on rain it reminded me that it was getting close to changing my windscreen wiper blades, so I grabbed a Christmas gift 'gift certificate' and went to the local car parts shop. A$14.00 to have 'just the blades' replaced (as opposed to the entire assemblies). The amount was simply subtracted from what was listed on the certificate. (y)

Oh, and I gave myself a haircut later on.

I'll see how the rest of today goes regarding the limbing task... or anything else, for that matter.

That's about it, take care all.

Good Evening,
Vt, 60 when I arrived at 8:45, couple small showers on the way up.
Dennis good call on the Gorilla Tape, held everything together pretty well. The end of the boards closest to the cab shifted a little bit but managed to get everything up here without losing anything. 😉

Tomorrow I will get into tackling this project.

Kind of a bad day at work, one of our fuel assistance customers had a hooky fill setup on their inground tank. The vent pipe is supposed to have a cap on it , this one didn’t. I asked the lady in the house where the vent was, and she didn’t know, so I started to put oil in the vent thinking it was the fill pipe. Well I got covered in fuel oil by my second delivery of the day, so it was a bad start but the rest of the day went better. So finally the husband comes home and showed me where the actual fill was, he had it buried under cinder blocks covered with a large piece of slate 😒. It’s been a long time since I stunk that bad 😂

Hope all have a good evening 🙏

Good morning, the low is 16 and going up to
32°F. Wind NW 11 mph. Sunny!
I can handle that.

I am up a little early for the stuff I have to do today. The good thing is while he is in the stores I can cat nap.
Gas should be cheaper today, $0.19/L ($0.72/US Gallon) is gone for now, the PM took the carbon tax grab off effective today, for the consumer, for gasoline and diesel. The manufacturers tax is still on, though.

Win, win for me as I need 600 gallons of diesel to fill up my tanks for over summer. I'll get that at about the middle of the month, maybe.

Time to get on with 'it'.

Have a safe day all
