A little insight into how our 'free' health care works. While I was working I paid into the OHIP system (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) through payroll deductions. The employer paid x amount of dollars and I paid x amount. Now that I am retired I shell out on my income tax and additional $600.oo/year for OHIP. The only reason we say it is 'free' is because when we get out of hospital we don't get presented with a huge hospital bill.Blue Cross just advised me new premium 328 a month, up from 276 and it wasn't long ago it was 178.

plus prescription plan that's $5k a year.
getting more expensive to stick around...
of course the real actuarial cost is more like 15k a year, so
you folks who subsidized the rest, thank you
