Good morning TBN!!
53 going to another toasty mid 80s. Sun and clouds. Maybe a pop up later today.
Yesterday was somewhat productive. Loaded the generator and the trusty ole stick welder on a pallet and replaced the bucket with my forks. Packed a tool bag with misc items I figured I would need. Found a decent pieces of angle and cleaned it up. Jumped on the tractor and turned the key and click, click click.
I guess I need to finally break down and replace the battery. Got my cheap little jump pack and it fired right up. Lifted the load and away I went.
Went down and climbed around all the red mud and welded it to both tanks. They are now one. Little by little :) Got that done and now I know what is needed to work for hours down there. Jumped on the tractor to come back to the shop to work on next item. Went to lift the load but it didn't lift. Maybe a couple of inches. Gave me enough clearance to get back to the shop. Tried to put the load down and it wouldn't drop either. Worked fine when I took the bucket off and put the forks on. Up and down no problem. Can't imagine why it would do that. Now it's at the top of the list to try to figure why it would suddenly quit working. Have to research that. Iknow there were discussions here at TBN but I haven't found them.
If it's not one thing it's another. Good thing I am pretty easy going  🤞

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

63 rising to 80. Lots of wind and blue sky yesterday after the rain.

Scott, glad your family is enjoying the cruise.

Thomas, sorry your driveway washed out. Rain was so hard a couple of days ago that Shenandoah closed many trails and the state closed nearby roads due to washouts.

Mostly, glad you are taking it easy in all that heat.

I used my fairly new cordless screwdriver to assemble the raised bed planter. My wife just put a brace on my wrist...I over torqued it, I guess. So, I doing most everything right-handed. Not too difficult for me.

Went to HD to pick up some pavers and sand to use where the planters are to go...I need to do some leveling, so hope my wrist holds up.

Saw this slime mold next to the mulched flower bed near the front porch this morning. Wasn't there last night...walk right by this spot frequently.

Google says it's called dog vomit mold, or scrambled egg mold...harmless, even eaten by some cultures.

Decided we'd just have regular scrambled eggs instead.

Morning all, 68 going to 75 and sunny, windy (very)
Got the lawns mowed.
Planted the new Forsythia (finally).
Got more staples in to hold down the wire for the corn area.
Went and put down 6 bags of asphalt patch at the end of the shared road.
Then took the handheld gas blower and moved all the Azalea flowers and stuff off the driveway.
Not sure if I will open the pool today with all the stuff blowing around.

Driving around here is bumpy due to the driveway and roadside debris from the heavy rains. Who needs speed bumps.

Well off to figure out my day. Sons Prom a success.

Be well,

Peaches are forming, this is the older tree, the new one also has tiny peaches, surprised at such a young age it's producing.

Good Morning
65° with a high of 70 under a partly cloudy, but sunny sky. 15 mph breeze to help dry things out.

Yesterday was uneventful, gig went well from a logistical standpoint, but it was a private event with a fairly small audience. At least they were engaged and responsive. Got home early enough to grill dinner on the patio.

Early night, wife had farmers market again today.
Got an early start this morning, dropped the loader off the tractor and hooked up the progressive mower. Made a few laps, but I think I’m gonna wait for the wind and sun to work their magic for a few more hours before finishing up. I’ll get the Lazer out after that.

67F and sunny @ 10:00. Was only calling for a high of 66F for the day so we've already made that. Winds out of the NW @ 10 to 20 so likely to be a cool day.

Got all the pipes for the saw horses notched and the feet cut at an angle last night.

And one them welded together, except for the cross braces on the legs:

IMG_3667 copy.jpg

No stack of dimes there ... but should be serviceable and capable of holding a fair bit of weight. They are not light.

Might have enough shielding gas left to tack the second one up but probably going have to make a trip down to my gas supplier's on Monday.

Some more clean up done in the shop as well, but still a very long ways to go.

On the agenda for today:

Remove tarp covering fence posts and check moisture level of posts.

The 6" x 12' posts for sure are likely dry enough to coating with the rubberized roofing asphalt so will likely crack open the bucket of that and start applying it on the first 4' that is going in the ground ... just to get an idea of how quickly it's going to cure and dry up.

If it looks like it's going to dry reasonably quickly I maybe go ahead and coat the entire posts.

Take down remesh panels on straight trellis.

Put up cattle panels on straight trellis.

Start planting the brassicas.

Repot the largest tomato plants.

Beyond that, see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday ... (y)

66°F and .98 inches of much need rain.

Able to get some interior mowing before the rain. Once it started it was more a good drizzle, so good.

Burgers and dogs came out good. Stuffed again.
Just realized this morning what a diversified group we are. Dwayne young retired software guy, born in China, grew up in Honolulu from age 3 thru HS then Mainlaind. His daughter is 19 and a student at Duke in China. He shot his 1st wild pig yesterday. Mo is a retired mechanical engineer from LA but came from Iran to Tennessee as a young student. His wife, Leslie is of Japanese heritage with parents from the Big Island but was born and grew up in California. They have 2 kids in their 30’s and just became grandparents in Oct.

Might just take an easy day. Still overcast so more rain is hopeful

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Thanks Don, and I made it home in one piece too. Not a bad drive down pulling that empty lightweight trailer.
lawn looks like a foot high, need to get food out of cooler and then go mow.
Roses are going bonkers. Lots of pics coming.
have about 20 pages to catch up on

   / Good morning!!!! #206,931
got the lawn mowed and most things put away.
still miles to guy before I sleep, but had to sit down.
picked a big handful of radishes, and I see there are little green peppers growing.
has two large agm batteries, 3kw inverter
was like a little kid in the mud but car was marvelous, no spinning at all
lot of gnats, putting the fan on the porch really helped, burning a citronella candle behind it.
sure nice to come home to my original roses in full bloom

just brewed a fresh pot of coffee, need to keep going
Popgadget gave me some good ideas on adjusting the Gravely's pto clutch. That was very disappointing today when the pto
driven shaft mower would not spin, clutch was slipping totally. Never did that before but I realized I hadn't run the mower in several years and someone else had it for several years and I don't know what went on. Luckily almost everything on this can be fixed.

Ken, my elderly cousin was an English Professor at NYU. She retired about 10 years ago. RIP Doctor Jean Louise Shields

The lights just went out. Confirming my suspicions that the hydro cannot handle sunshine. Rained all day yesterday, last night and today. Sun out now and the lights went out.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low was a frosty -3.9C and it's presently warmed up to 12.0C, clear & calm.

There's not much going on for me at the moment and that's just fine as the past couple of months have been steady/hectic. I've got a Parish Council meeting this evening @ 1700.

That's about it, take care all.

Beautiful night to sit on the deck, nice breeze, snagglepuss on my lap.
I’ve used the “new” deck with new chairs more than I used the old one.
Dad mowed a couple laps today with the L5030. Think he just wanted to see if he still could.
Drew, Andrew Camarata new place up where you was. You had to be real close.

Saturday night I shredded after dark for about an hour or so. My rear facing light is out. Need to do some electrical testing of the turn signal switch, and the light switch. Front headlights work, but are a bit dim being 23 years old. There's plenty more to cut, as I only did a few acres. I love the hydrostat for speeding up and down to adjust to the grass conditions, keeping the motor at peak hp/torque. Also backing up is easier.

Want a laugh? I need to change the oil in my small LX5 cutter's gearbox. Just for grins, I looked up a new gearbox on JD website....it was like $2470 dollars. JUST THE GEARBOX. So I looked up a brand new Deere 5' cutter Frontier. With all the options its only $2690. MSRP. What a crock.

I have a 6' Bushhog in decent shape I need to give some love to. PTO drive is frozen up. Bought it at an auction for only $500 a few years ago.

This evening I changed the oil in my Deere 4310. I'm not going to say how long it has been since changed, but it has only had about 120 hours. Old oil still looked fairly clean and Yanmar doesn't burn a drop. Put some Chevron Delo synthetic 15W 40 in it. Logged onto my maintenance spreadsheet and filled in the job. Motor only has 580 hours being 23 years old. It has been a fantastic tractor. I've been able to fix everything so far, which has been very little. Toughest job may have been replacing rear axle seals, or maybe taking apart the 3 point rockshaft controller and cleaning it to make it work correctly.

Son is rewatching Captain Jack Sparrow pirate series. He's on the last movie. Lot of good special effects.

Crazy that the Mexican sailing ship ran into the bridge....backwards? I smell trouble.

Coffee is brewing. 46° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 61° with partly cloudy skies. Pond maintainace went good. Lots of Maple Helicopters to vacuum up. Got plenty of weeds pulled. NASCAR must have been very boring. I fell asleep before it started. Will have to look at recording today. Grass trimming and weed killer spraying today.
Frogs like Helicopters.
