When my kids were real young, I built a simple 3” high platform with four circles of Atlas O-gauge track powered by four vintage Lionel #1063 transformers, which snaps around our tree stand. I’d not bothered setting it up the last few years, due to a new puppy and the fact that four plain circles of track with no other accessories or stops is actually pretty boring, but they asked me to pull the old rig out again this year.Christmas trains are the best.

We are way behind on everything this year, normally we have the tree up and decorated by Dec.1, but there were just too many activities this year for that to happen. Once we have lights and decorations on the tree in the next few days, I’ll try to get a pic. But in the meantime, here are some old pics from when the kids were still little.

I usually try to have a mix of pre-war, inter-war, post-war, and modern trains on the four tracks. But sometimes the kids take over and make it all Thomas and Peanuts.
