I recommended "Terry Pratchett's Hogfather" last year.

3 hour made for British TV. Comedy without laugh track. Discworld doesn't have a Santa Claus, they have The Hogfather, who does the same things. When the Hogfather disappears, Death dons the Hogfather's red/white robes and sleigh to make the rounds. Humor ensues, Death has a hard time doing "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Plenty of wizards, goblins, tooth fairies, and assassins. Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) has a major role as Death's granddaughter.

Currently on Amazon Prime with ads.

Terry Pratchett's Going Postal is also on Prime but without ads. Another 3 hour British TV movie on Discworld.

Watched a very "strange" movie last night, entitled "The Shack". It's unlike anything I have ever seen before; I still don't know how to describe it. I can't say I "liked" it, but can't say that I didn't. It did keep my attention, and was very intellectually and spiritually challenging. It was all cut up with commercials, such that I would actually watch it again if I could watch it straight through and unedited. If you would like a challenge, then you might want to see this one. It is different.

I saw this...can't recall where but no commercials...so it had to be HBO or Showtime
A fascinating film with religious overtones...basically, IIRC, the plot is about a man's trip to redemption after losing his child...meeting many along the path. Almost trippy in a way...and definitely not what I'd call a "commercial" film

Never thought of it as a commercial film, I guess because the basic premise and plot was so far removed from the cookie cutter stuff I'm used to seeing.

I have watched that movie maybe four times; I'm with you, still not sure what exactly to make of it. I'll admit, it teared me up pretty good.

All is lost - Robert Redford. He's single handing a sailboat in the south Pacific and has problems. Not much dialog, but he is pretty much alone the whole movie.

Watched "The Missing" last night; other than the great scenery and photography, it was kind of a "blah" movie, although I did watch it to the end. Roger Ebert really panned it; didn't think it was quite that bad, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.
