2422, this is a new unit, it has a loading height of 72 inchs, and can have a back hoe mounted on it. THe unit cost 10000 and has the 22 HP Robin! THe back hoe is another 2700. THey don't have a video as of yet but PT told me they should have one in a few weeks! GIve them a call, they are very helpful!

Like many of you, I have looked at all the main tractors, JD, NH, Kubota, MF, Cubs along with some others! Each has its own little thing that they do better than their rivals and then to some it is just a matter of what each of us likes!

THe power Trac has some nice features:
My wife and I are looking for a new tractor, in the BX, 7500, 2410, 4100, NHD25 range! We came across this Power Trac 2422!

For Mowing I don't think any of the Compacts will touch it, it will turn inside of all of them with out messing up the lawn. Having the Deck out front in a bonus (to me).
THe Quick attach, well it beats them all hands down. Not even JD (who I think over all has the quickest attachment system for the bucket and loader) can compair! Changing from forks to a bucket with out getting off the unit!
THe unit is built like a tank with heavy metal, not sheet metal!

In talked with other Power Trac owner, the units have enough power to get the jobs done with the attachments that will fit on them! Full time four wheel drive, it pivots in the center for tight turns and for uneven ground, and with the engine in back it helps with the loader capacity!
As for attachments, lots of them, priced not to bad! Some of them I don't think you can get with a smaller compact or sub compact tractor.

I do see some draw backs, using the trencher, tiller, box scraper, and the rake will not be as easy as with a tractor as you must back up! THe Backhoe has some limits as well!

It comes down to each of us deciding what we need the unit for the most!
THe Power Trac will not replace the Tractor by any means but it is a good unit with lots of great features that the others just cant compair!
Just my 2 cents worth!

I compared the lift height on the 400 series vs the 2400 series. Look where the operator sits. The 400 is low in front of the engine, while the 2400 is up on top of the engine, apparently so the operator can spin around to use the optional back hoe. While you can put a mower on a 2400 series, I'd rather have the 400 seating arrangement. If they had a higher lift on the 400 seriies I'd be sold.

Mark,

I think it is time for you to apply a more sophisticated financial analysis to the sale of your rig. You are asking $45K. If you get that price, you will have a $45K increase in your cash flow. However, you can do better.

You say you have $60K in your tractor not including your time. Rather than reasonably discounting your investment in order to sell it, you should consider reasonably augmenting your investment in order to save more taxes than you can earn by selling.

Here's how. Your hardware cost in the rig is unquestionably $60K, but you can increase the rig's total cost by the value of your time. No one doubts you have contributed at least $40K of your valuable time to the rig. The endless 4310 enhancements thread is proof-positive. So we now have an asset that is reasonably worth, say, $100K.

What! Try to sell the rig for $100K, you protest. No, you donate it to charity . This could give you up to $100K in income tax deductions that you can carry forward or backwards for maybe 5 years. Assuming your income tax rate is 30%, this is a cash flow saving of a real $30K in income taxes.

But you also will save estate tax. If you die while owning this $100K asset, your estate will owe an estate tax that begins at 37% and goes to 55%. Let's conservatively assume you would be in the 40% estate tax bracket. By donating the $100K asset you permanently remove its value from your estate, and thereby save $40K in estate taxes.

So, by donating the rig to charity you save a total of $30K in income taxes + $40K in estate taxes, or a net increase of $70K in cash flow. This is a far superior outcome than the cash flow increase of $45K you would have from a sale.

So, the only decision you have to make is what charity do you want to donate to. Well, it just so happens that Gordon, Harv and I have formed the GHG Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to landscape beautification and noxious mud removal. Just give our foundation the tractor, and enjoy your $75K in tax savings. We'll take care of the rest.

Harv, you have first dibs on the boxblade. Gordon, about that VCR mounted in the canopy ...

You heard it from a professional, Mark. None of us are going to argue with the dozen or so of Glenn's law degrees, are we?

Contact me privately and I'll provide you with the shipping address of the GHG Foundation.

Glenn (and the rest of "Dewey, Cheatum, & Howe") -

I think I follow your logic there. It's a good thing you don't really want my Kubota, because I have a feeling that if you bought it, I'd end up owing you money! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

But next time I need to "do somebody out of something", I'll sure know who to ask for help. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Mark are you sure about that? I really believe that Glenn has hit this one on the head. Hands down a very good approach, just wish I would have come up with an idea that slick. After all Glenn has just about bought a set of tires in towing fees with the luck he has had with the mud on his back fourty. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Glenn wants it, needs it, but just doens't realize it./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Mark, Well I this explans why I never heard from you! Man what a suprise! I have just read all of the posts and come back to tires, tires, tires, it just seams as though their so small. Grordon and I both use our tractors in the woods alot and the LARGE rear tires are a BIG help. [I will reframe from going on about the XM26 that every one has heard so much about] I have lost over 1/2 of my front tire in the mud and any thing samller is is just no good in my book. I do under stand that you don't use your's for skiding so this is not a factor for you, but if I rember right you mite have gotten stuck 1 or 2 X'S???? Isn't that what makes a tractor a tractor ? Large rear tires? I have to admit that the rest of the design is very intresting, alot of nice new ideas.
I would buy the hyd valve for the 4 in 1 bucket if ya deside to go peice-meal /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gifRich
