Is anyone using the new browser from Google? I downloaded it today, seems to be a good bit faster than Explorer.

I downloaded on Tuesday evening when it first came out. I now have it on the two desktops and laptop.

It seems to work just fine with 90% of the sites I have visited. Some sites have had functionality issues, but I think these would be ones where web page coding may not comply with standards, sites for kids games etc.

On a functional aspect it does seem to be quicker than Firefox or Explorer. I've noticed sometimes it is slow to recognise a right click for a new tab and there have been several "halts" which continue after a few seconds. Then again it is a first release Beta.

Overall I'm impressed. I like the minimalist look. Also something I like is the ability to pull web applications onto the desktop and leave them there as icons. I currently have Google mail and Google Calendar as desktop icons. Now can access them directly without a broser interface as if they were applications on the PC instead of the "cloud"

i dl'd it and i agree that its faster than IE or Firefox. But it didn't pick up my sign in names/passwords for some places and I don't remember them so I went back to using firefix.

MY buddies and I are leery of Chrome.... yes, it's got a shiny name, but am not sure I want it....

Here is a ...eek... about it
Google Chrome — eek. Koitsu’s Weblog

also, item 2 under the terms and conditions says it can do anything it wants to regarding watching you and your surfing and you can't do anything about it...

I don't think it's for me... I use FIREFOX and am happy with it.

I am watching and waiting. I almost always wait until version 1.1 of new software before I do anything more than a quick exploration of it.

they changed that today, dunno how that one got by the legal department...

right now I think I agree with you, I have played with it, but I am on a laggy wireless connection to DSL and it seemed to take too long... not as snappy as FF3.0 (on a 1.8 Athalon w/1gb of RAM running XP Pro SP3)
also I like Adblock plus on FF too much to switch until there is a comparable add on for chrome.

I had downloaded the latest version of firefox and it slowed my surfing down big time. I had been using firefox a good while and liked it. Went back to IE and remembered why I left it before. Always locking up my computer. Downloaded Chrome and am happy so far.Fast.

Chrome will not work with my online bank. But I do think it is a little faster and I like the simple layout.

I also am waiting until they get a version 1.1 out. Though I am not sure if I will look at it too much. Its open source so I figure anything that is really cool will wind up in Firefox.

Explorer I stay away from like the plague.

I find it to be as fast as Firefox but not faster plus Firefox is running a ton of apps. Also, it does not have any of the ad-blockers, pop-up blockers, download helpers, spell checkers or hundreds of other add-on apps that I have with Firefox. I also don't like the way Chrome handles my favorites. The newest version of Firefox (3.0.1) is great and I am sticking with it. Anything is better than Internet Explorer which is a "window" to viruses/spam.

I use Safari at home and IE at work (which I'm stuck with). I find Safari to be far superior to IE. From what I've read, Chrome was built using Apple's Web Kit and is 100% compatible with Safari. With that being the case, I'm not sure there is any reason to try Chrome over Safari unless there are some really killer added features I'm unaware of.

Trying the CHROME and just learning my way around, so far I think I like it although operating a tractor is a lot easier. Haven't got my RoboForm to recognize login pages.

Edit: Just learned the Google Chrome is not supported by RoboForm, might have to go back to FF.

I've just installed Safari 4 on my Mac. It does seem quite a bit faster than Safari 3.

A number of banks use the same central data for viewing checks and THAT seems to be tied into a script that has become IE dependent (fairly recently).
Firefox (in conjunction with GetRight and Flashgot) volunteers to download an Image Viewer cgi script when I click on a check number.
I keep meaning to get around to making that script an add-in, but then I get lazy and start IE up - just to view a check or two.
I HATE that IE is still so buggy and the fact that it seems to need a "security fix" 3 or 4 times a week doesn't suggest that they should tie ANY bank application to it.
Doesn't suggest that ANYTHING should be tied to it...

I just got around to installing Google Chrome. So far I like it. It seems snappy. I like how uncluttered the interface is. Chrome doesn't feel as clunky as Firefox 3.5 does. Actually, for me, ever since Firefox 3 was released it has got slower and slower. It takes forever to close. I liked Firefox 2 a lot better. I have Opera and while I like it, it doesn't work with a number of pages right. It hates Yahoo mail (or Yahoo hates it, I don't know ). Chrome works well with Yahoo mail. I'll run Chrome for a while yet before making any definite decision about it, but so far I like what I see. :)

An update to the above. Safari 4 has a really nice feature called Top Sites. It shows your favorite 12 sites as snapshots all on a single screen that appears with one click. Works as smooth as silk on my Mac.

Chrome is the essential part of google's attempt to un seat Microsoft. They see the future of computing being "cloud computing". The programs are not in the computer but on their servers. You can already get some this with docs.google.com. But for this to work you need a lean and mean internet program. On internet programs you have tabs so that you can switch between pages you want to look at, but you are always running the risk that whats happening on one page will bring down the whole program, so what they have done is to make each page run as a virtual machine.
There were some compatibility problems at first but they seem to be clearing them up.

One of the problems with Firefox Im told is that if you surf for some time the cache of pages doesn't get flushed and this will slow the system down.

Google Chrome is far better than any other browser, and to add its credibility Google Chrom OS ia also coming next year. Chrome 3 is faster than anyother browser and not as fast as FF3.5
