Gooseneck v. Bumper trailer for me?

I think in VA it is illegal to tow a trailer that had a GVWR bigger than the tow rating of your truck. Even if it's empty...

I doubt this.

Not saying someone didn't get a ticket for it.

I don't see how it can be. Tow rating isn't a legal rating for starters.

Sorry, after looking again it was legal in VA but not in NY. :ashamed: Go figure...

My guess would be that the truck and or trailer wasn't tagged for that much weight. It's a revenue thing. MAYBE if they were over their axle ratings.
