Got a little too brave with my new BX...

Welcome to T B N .
My new BX2360 was delivered on Friday, and it is the first SCUT I have ever driven. I LOVE the smooth power steering and the hydraulics are faster than I thought they would be. I operate some very large equipment for a living, including 345 Cat excavators and 988 Cat loaders, so this will take a little getting used to.

Anyways some pics:

OK now this is less than five minutes after the dealer leaves. I decided to take the kid for a ride through the trails and over estimated the 4WD a bit. The main problem though was the back blade does not go very high and made one helluva anchor. Of course this is when my whole family comes over to check the new machine out lol

Love the machine though:D
Congrats on the BX.
I'm hooked on my 3.

Could have removed the top link, attached a come-a-long to the top of the role bar and to the blade, dropped the lift arms all the way and pulled the rear of the blade as high as you could get it.

I learned many years ago that 4 wheel drive and/or steering brakes should only be used to get out of trouble.

Stuck ? rexcramer wasn't stuck. Unlike a JD, Kubota's can swim. :D :D :D

Laen64,
You are old Army for sure. Last time I saw a gamma-goat was in the 80's when I was stationed in Korea. Those things were so dangerous the Army quit buying them.

Thanks Tom, I saw a thread somewhere with a picture of new holes drilled in but I cant find it now for the life of me. By drilling new holes does it go even higher than the balde would with the top link adjusted all the way? And if so can you leave it at one setting all the time or do you still have to adjust it up and down to get clearance vs being able to have it hit the ground and actually do something?

rexcramer,
As Laen64 and thavil will attest, these evil monsters tended to roll-over very easily. A lot of joes died as a result. These beasts were produced in the 60's and by the 80's the Army had had lost over a 100 Soldiers to the gamma goat so they stopped buyig them. As a new Private to the unit, my old 1SG told me I was going out on manuevers in one of these things and I told him like he**. I got my very first Article 15 (they took some money from my paycheck for failing to follow orders) and I rode in the back of a "duece and a half" during the field exercise. Money well spent on my part !

When I put mine on I use the new holes.
I haven't lifted any thing that caused a problem so far.

The box blade isn't a problem (kk bx series)I did modify the back braces to move the top link back about 2" by re drilling the holes in the blade for the angle braces further to rear of mount.

this helped with getting the rippers to work better.
The fork mount I made wasn't a problem but I haven't lifted any thing on it yet

I would efinitely agree with what you are saying about the gamma goat. It was one of the first Army vehicles I drove in AIT at Ft Leonard Wood (MOS was 64C Motor Transport Operator). Another tippy Army vehicle was the old jeep but loved driving them!
