1- My Dad's POS Poulan 2000 saw had been sitting in his garage for years. I dragged out his and gave it a going over, meaning, I put fresh fuel in, choke on, pulled on the cord untll it popped [took a few], choke off, pulled again and it fired.
It then took a little fiddling time to straighten out the carb settings and sharpen the incredibly dull blade, but it now cuts and runs decently.

2- After being unable to get my FIL's Stihl MS180 to run with any power, I replaced the OEM non adjustable carb to an adjustable one.
Of course, being an Ebay, Chinese unit, it was not exactly like the OEM but I was able to make it work.
A few minutes with the mixture screws and it now runs like a champ.

They may have their drawbacks but I have never had a light weight "one handed" saw and I am liking it for those small trim jobs.
And, they were free:cool2:
