Mew Fords are said to turn much better in a parking lot then a GM.
I know guys who would not be interested in a FORD without an eight foot box.
I'm one of those guys. I have an '06 F150XLT, 4.6L standard cab, 2 WD, 8 foot bed. If I want to haul lumber, plywood or drywall it's not a problem, I don't have it hanging out the back. Wouldn't own a truck without a cap either. If I want to haul more than one person around or go on a trip, I take my old Town Car.
Thought about buying a new or newer truck last spring, but since '07 the only std. cab 8ft bed trucks made are F250s or F150 XLs, everything is 4 door, short bed, V6 (No Way!), 4wd.
A new 2020 model speced like I wanted it was over $41K, so I ended up getting the small amount of rust on it rust fixed and a whole new paint job. The engine is doing fine at 227K, only uses a quart of oil in ~6K miles, compressions a all good and even. Transmission is doing fine too, I have it serviced every 50K miles. Still has the original exhaust on it too. Did have to put new struts in it a year ago, both front springs had broken about one coil from the bottom.
Never owned a 4wd truck, never needed one, just another maintenance problem.
If the roads are so bad you need 4wd, I stay home. Let the 4wd idiots that think it makes them able to go anywhere as fast and stop as short as if the roads were clear litter the ditches and cause accidents.
