Putting the final touches on my diverter valve to control my new EA grapple and would like to get opinions on how is the most intuitive way to control it.
I'm putting it in the loaders dump/curl circuit and I'm sure that whatever way I put it I will learn it but does it make more sense to close the lid with the curl or the opposite?
I'm leaning towards closing the grapple with the dump side since there both downward motions. What say you?

For me, I think of closing the grapple by pulling my arm towards me, closing up the gap so to speak. Push away and it is opening the gap. Just do whatever seems more natural for you. It really won't make a difference and is easy to switch around. ;)

Think of it this way - with a joystick loader control, normally you pull the lever TOWARD you to "keep" the load, and "push the load/lever away" to dump.

So, to me anyway, it only makes sense to set the curl actuated grapple to "keep" the load by pulling toward you, and dump it by "pushing it away" -

But, as Brian points out, if you don't like it you can switch hoses in about 10 minutes... Steve

On the curl side was my first thought thinking that you pick up and clamp on the same joystick motion.

on my TC45DA I set it up to use the rear remotes and run long lines to the grapple.... so the Joystick isn't effected and does what it always does.

I run my grapple off a rear SCV, but if I were to run it off the joystick, I would use "curl" to close and "dump" to open.
My thinking if I want to empty my bucket, I would "dump". If I wanted to empty my grapple, I would also want to "dump".
I think one days use and it would become second nature.

That makes sense.

Pretty sure that's the way I'm going with it.
I hadn't even thought about how much sense it makes on the dump side, I can probably hold the lever over and punch the diverter button all in one motion to unload.

I have tried it both ways and have decided to close the grapple on the dump side and open on the curl. Doing it that way keeps the motions the same (bucket down and grapple down ).
The deciding factor was the regen? or whatever its called that kubota has in the dump loader circuit. when using the right side/ dump circuit to open you have to go quickly thru the regen to get to the powered portion of the control.
Using the dump side to close the regen will gravity close the lid then if you need to clamp tighter just push the stick over further.

This the way mine is if I pull the lever towards me the bucket comes up (curl) and if I pull the lever towards me the grapple arm goes up push away to dump and push to close. This has seemed like second nature to me as compared to the operation of the loader bucket. The only problem that I have is to remember to center the joystick before I let go of the diverter valve button, because I let go of the button first all of the time and the bucket always jumps into action even when I don't want it to!:confused3:

You don't really know until you try but I"m keeping mine the same as yours. whatever you want to go up you pull ,to make it go down you push
