grease gun tip stuck in awkward spot, ideas to get it off?

New gun. As I was making my way around the tracotr I insert the tip into the backhoe arm and there it stayed. I've pulled, twisted, tugged, yanked. Even unscrewed the gun hose and grabbed the tip with vise grips to pry it out. All I achieved was to marr the sides of the tip. Ideas?

If I screw a zerk into it, how do I pump the grease? The grease gun hose's tip is what is stuck on the zerk.

If it is that stuck it can just stay there then.

I bet it pops right off instead of pushing grease into the original zerk.

Thread an eye bolt onto the tip, then tie off the eye bolt to the tractor and start up the tractor and extend the backhoe - the next sound you will hear id the tip coming off.

I've seen BH's eat a lot of different things, I quess they get hungry for grease gun tips also

That happened to me this summer too, a zerk on my FEL arm. Just one fitting. I got one of those flat pry bars and pried gently and popped it off. Then I unscrewed the tip of the grease gun fitting a half turn to loosen the fitting jaws, and it now goes on an comes off perfectly. That was after researching thr whole thing. Can you reach the end of your gun fitting and see the knurled bit where you loosen it and do it in place?

Put a screwdriver in the hole on both sides of the chuck and apply some outward pressure to stop it turning , then turn the protruding part anti clockwise with pliers . This will release the jaws and it will come off the nipple .

How would you get a socket on it ?

I would find a bolt that would thread into it. Then use a stack of washers and thread in the bolt and with the washers pushing on the frame and the bolt pulling on the gun tip it should break it loose.

I want to know how you could tell he has a backhoe on this machine from the picture!!!

How about using a plumbers propane torch and heat the grease gun tip up and then try to pull it off?

That's funny, I blurted out the same thing out loud just as I rolled your response into view.

If its stuck from being under pressure and no where for the grease to go, I usually knock the pin back enough to expose the inside of the hole, and then it should loosen up.

YUP, I had the same thing happen last week and went through the same pain push the tip down towards the nipple and wiggle until the inside releases and then it will pull off hopefully this helped.

I like diamodpilots idear, grease gun tip thread are 1/4 npt or something like that. Have ya tried locking vice grips on the stubborn tip and pry on the 'grips with a pry bar, tire iron or what ever is handy?
