I can't get my grease gun to go on the drive shaft fittings. Do they make a smaller coupler to use in a tight space, and if so where can I get one? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for your help.

There are univeral joint type zerk adapters..Some of the national parts stores have them..If not ask a mechanic that you know..The Snap-on trucks carry them.

It can be done using a standard fitting if you use a long flexible hose, but you do have to have it turned just right. It takes a little experimenting as well as practice.

A different nozzle will make it easier however.

I had to get a flex hose and then grind the tip down a little smaller so it fits. Still helps to have a third hand when trying to pump and hold the nozzle on there.

I used both straight and flex coupling on the driveshaft of the mower U-joints. I find that when the deck is removed, and i move the coupling 90 degrees the zerk is right there point out and ready for greasing.

I suspect you are trying to do it while its still attached to the BX. IF you don't want to remove the deck, I suggest disconnecting just the MMM shaft and slide top half off and grease it on the ground. before reinserting- you should be able to turn the lower half of shaft so lower u-joint zerk pointing in a way you can grease that one too. Its doable.

I did it this way on my BX2200 a few times, but found it easier to just fool around with positioning the shaft "just right" and the nozzle will fit right on. This worked on my 2200 and my 2660; my wife greases it most of the time now.

I just did mine last night before putting my deck back on. You just gotta "hold your tongue right" and it was fairly easy. At least in my case...

That's the truth, especially the back one; sometimes it just falls right on and sometimes...

Thanks for your advice. I found a tight tolerance grease coupler at Tractor Supply today and will try that. If that won't work I will grind off one side of a coupling to see if that will work.
