The James Barker is 1004' long, 50' high, and 105' wide.
The Ever Given (stuck in the Suez) is 1312' long, and 192' wide. Couldn't find the height.

Yes Rolf, We have 13 of those 1000ft class on the lakes and Sault locks are the busiest locks in the world. People add the Barker's horn to there ring tones.

How did they lose 1/2 of their drive? Mechanical failure or something else?

I read somewhere that it's 17 stories (whatever that is) in height above the waterline, loaded. Ton of stuff coming out about it. Today is the refloat day, I think.

Just think if the Ever Given suffers structural failure and has to be scrapped on the spot (and off loaded) how long the canal would be closed? Talk about a disaster, there it is, in spades. Think ship builders have reached the maximum size in ships...

I think I read that earlier this morning on the AP that they were gonna give livestock ships priority because of the food and water situation.

Being towed to 'Bitter Lake' which is midway in the canal for a marine inspection. I figured when Smit commissioned the ALP defender, it would get pulled out. That is a mega tug with a tremendous bollard pull. What did they have? Like 13 tugs pulling? I'm sure Smit Salvage will do a YT video of it. They tend to do YT video's of their operations.

Be interesting to find out what REALLY caused the grounding.

How rarely do we ever get the TRUTH anyway? The higher the level of inquiry, the bigger the lies and coverup.

I haven't heard one word about who the Pilot was, in charge of navigation. Or who was steering the ship. Or much about the power outage or sandstorm.

I have seen many out of control, large ships, smashing into stuff on Youtube, after loosing power.

Yes, some boats have two engines, two gearboxes, 2 props and of course two engines. But i have no idea what happen to the Barker or how its drive was set up.
