Tractor
Ls G3038h
I was going to build one of these but had plans to make a 3 pt hitch type, similar to a sub soiler only with a longer reach.
I found this for sale by a tree service company that used it on a skid steer. They built it and said they spent $850 on the
metal. Heavy 3/4 " and 2" x 4" supports. I cleaned it up, repainted and added two kick stands, as the angle it lays I could not disconnect.
I added one brace and spent a day touching up some welds and sharpened the 3/4" blade. I had a root in the back that after a hour
or 2 with the bucket and a hole the size of a small swimming pool i gave up and covered it back up. I put on the stump killer and
to my amazement in less than 5 minutes it was out and it was huge. With a tool like this all the energy of the tractor is concentrated
on a much smaller point than the bucket. Have taken out several large stumps that I did not even want to try with the bucket. Much
less strain on the tractor also. You just draw it across the stump on all sides which cuts the roots and then the foot hooks on and pulls
it out in a fraction of the time and no big holes . I sound like a salesman but it is not for sale!
It works awesome on my little 38 HP , I can only imagine on a large machine, wow.

Good looking tool. I my self would rather it be on the rear of the tractor as the rear is designed to pull. I would be concerned about damaging the loader arms. They are designed to push and not so much to pull.

I like it. Being out front you can reach under low limbs that might hinder you with a rear mount. I don't think you could get enough traction to damage the arms and as long as you move straight back and not try to turn, I think you will be ok with using it. Turning might tend to warp your FEL lift arm but otherwise I think it would not be a problem.
With it mounted on the FEL, It can change the angle of the sub-soiler just like having a top hydraulic link on your 3 PH.

I agree. It isn't any more severe than using a root rake on the front. It puts very little strain on the tractor compared to using the bucket. I don't pull and jerk
anyway, you can tell when something is giving and when its not. On a bigger tractor you could even reach up and remove limbs. I do on small trees and works
fine, just have to know the limits of what your using. The tree service used it for years and said it was great for removing palmetto trees. I cuts great ditches also.

I have 2 comments.

First, that is a really slick took, and I'm jealous. Great find.

Second, you tractor is WAY too clean! :D

I like the tool and would really like to see a thread on your tool boxes, with close-ups.

the tool boxes are from harbor freight and I welded a bracket to fit the bolts holding the rops on.

Nice, so how much do you want for it? ;)

I have often thought that a frost hook on a backhoe would work well, thanks you have confirmed that for me.

Thanks. I may do something similar.

sorry it is not for sale, best 300 bucks I ever spent! After using it for awhile now I am glad it mounts on the FEL and not the 3 PT. way more versatile. I have a
hydraulic top link and still it would not even compare to using it on the front. great for hooking on to things and moving them, i keep finding things it works for
that no way could the 3 pt do. much better reach when working around trees . 20141217_131958.jpg

I like it!

I need to make one for my V417, since it is made for front attachments.

Maybe use a ripper tooth on a 2" square shank in the bottom receiver.

the "stump killer" would be awesome on that beast

You can also swap your front tires, side to side. So they pull better backing up.

It looks like it works good. What kind of stumps have you dug out with it?

so far mostly oak and bay trees and nothing over 24" . It has helped my little 38HP LS to do the job easier and quicker but
I am easy on my tractor, not going to tackle much bigger. this thing would really be a tool on a 90+ HP skid steer.
