i love my p238 essentially a mini 1911.. slide lock and all.

got the limited Z edition. ;)

I assume that yours works correctly, otherwise you wouldn't love it. I'm glad they fixed that gun.

I had one of the earlier models. Great sights, low recoil, very accurate, when it worked. It would fire two rounds then jam, almost every time, even after all the upgrades. I had bought a bunch of different brand/style ammo to try, but got the same results. Mine spent more time at Sig, and UPS than with me. After the 6th return they sent me a new gun, which I sold to my dealer.
Maybe the new one would have worked, but I was just sick of the whole thing.

I'm a big believer in shooting guns for several hundred rounds before I carry them. In the case of my 238 it paid off.

there were 2 sn prefixes that were/are under recall. Mine is not in that prefix category.. functions flawlessly. have never jambed it.. even with different holloypoint ammo that sometimes feeds hard in other smaller 380's

the newer ones are better guns

This is very good advice. I think Bird is telling me the same thing. She is very comfortable shooting a .22 caliber and if I try anything bigger it would be too much for her. A shot taken with something small is much better than no shot taken at all. I need to find something that she will be comfortable with instead of worrying about firepower.

A .32 might be just the thing. Have her try a Walther PPK.

When I first saw the title of your thread, I thought, "Sounds like a good trade." :D

Seriously, there is a good article in the current issue of Guns & Ammo about a new S&W revolver in .22 magnum. Check it out.

I know that many don't consider anything .22 to be adequate for personal protection. (generally, that includes me too)
However, I had rather see my wife armed with a .22 that she can shoot and be confident with than to be unarmed.

32acp Walther PP police trade in pistols are still around. Slightly larger than a PPK. Good guns.

Another great pistol, the Sig 232, .380 is a little larger than a PP. Better DA trigger, IMHO.

Nice! Yeah they are slick little pistols. I like the blued with rosewood grips.

Bigfoot, you are right on. I think most people will swear loudly and turn around and get the heck out vs. charge you after being hit with one or two rounds of a 22. Personally I like my S&W 686+ but that is asking too much for my wife to wield.

I had bought two 32Mag revolvers, a 380 SA and a couple of nice 22 SA pistols, hoping my wife would decide to carry one of them. But my timid, mild mannered wife can go crazy when someone cuts her off in traffic. We decided it would be safer if she didn't have a gun in the car. With her being a public official, if she shot up someone's car in traffic, I'm sure it would make the evening news.

My wife has similar problems
she has a Bersa 380 with an extended 9 round magazine
very little kick with some punch

My daughter has a Walther P-22 that she loves
to the tune of about 1000 rounds a month

Now she is part of the 4H sharp shooters, but after the summer months are over she is going to curb that appetite
