Guns, Banks & Wild West Texas

That's a very sneaky and back-handed way of dissing The Republic of Texas!

How's that hole coming Jimmy? Need a little help?

:laughing::laughing::laughing:
Dave.

Aww, Dave, we're kinda used to it anyway. I completely understand Jimmy's comments but he just doesn't understand that criminals have almost unlimited access to guns anyway.

Well, I suppose you are - Texas being such a big target and all :p

Just having fun with Jimmy.

Now think of the shame involved if you are found to be carrying concealed in a bank that gets robbed. How will that be explained to the local news? Will that person go down in infamy as the feckless one who didn't use their gun? It's a great plot line for a tv western. I'm sure Dateline would do a segment on it and the feckless one would get an invite from Larry King :D
Dave.

I have a CCL, pocket carry all the time, on ranch and off. Except where it's not legal which includes, as I recall from my CCL training, medical facilities because they are considered federal facilities since they take Medicare funds, and banks which all have signs and I thought there was at least a state if not federal law outlawing CCL weapons. I am amazed it seems to be a "local option."

Not looking for trouble but if some unavoidably shows up with deadly intent, then I intend to defend myself and family.

The right to a speedy trial has long since been abrogated.

The hospital doctors and nurses could also get quite a shock if you have to remove your clothes and they see your weapon, you thought you had a 44 magnum but they know it's only a 32 S&W!:D

That's what the License is for ... to show to those with a NEED TO KNOW before you show them your weapon. I don't think doctors scare easily.

Actually, I have a daughter in law who is a doctor. It's the things she can't see that are personally dangerous and risky...AIDS, hepatitis, TB, long list....sometimes her patients already are diagnosed and can show their illness card, sometimes, she hands them their card.

Any time a public place puts up a sign like that they had better post a guard every 10 feet because they are taking on guaranteed total protection of everyone that walks in that door if we are not allowed to protect ourselves. Its just amazing the reasoning that goes behind a decision like that.

Okay jimmyj, I know you know this, but maybe some others don't. What was Paladin's Chinese Butler's name?

While this discussion can see many directions, it often lacks consideration of the fact that my rights never outweigh the rights of others. My private property is my private property and your desire to carry can be revoked by me while you are on my property, leaving you the option of not carrying or staying off my property. We all use hospitals, banks, shopping centers, and restaurants. Most all of those are private property and have the right to set the rules. There is no law against discrimation based on a desire to carry. I can ask you to leave my business or other property if I want to. It's no different than a sign that says, "No shoes, no shirt, no service!" What this bank has done is to specifically grant the right to carry to all those with the CHL and not guarantee a robber that they will not be challenged by unarmed patrons.

Hey boy was the bell hop at the "carleton hotel" in San Francisco. Good call out.

I don't remember what gun he used though.

In a related manner to the OP, I work in retail and one thing that shocks problem customers is the fact that a store premises is PRIVATE property. We can tell people to leave, and in fact get no trespass orders. People always assume stores are public spaces.
