I use the downspout screens that look like a small cage. I clean them a couple of times in the spring and again in the fall. It's not too much of a hassle for me to use an extension ladder. Occasionally I hose the gutters out also, I like the KISS principle whenever I can.

Get gutters as soon as possble else the debris will accumulate and clogging and leaking would be the end result.

I installed and use a product called Gutter RX.

Simple and easy to install. Took me about 2 hours to do my whole house. I have had zero issues and if the leaves don't blow off, a quick sweep with the broom takes them right off. I have multiple mature trees within 20-30 feet of my house.
