Funny you mention removing that. I told my wife last night that I was considering possibly trimming it a little, but still not sure if I want to take that plunge yet either. Finally got the whole yard mowed last night, maybe now I can return to a somewhat normal status of mowing, depending on what the rain does. Isn't the grass supposed to be brown and crunchy around here this time of year?

I was just think the same thing last night. Only had to get the sprinklers out once this year.

Is the only way on your deck to remove some baffling by cutting? If not, I'd definitely give it a try. I think a good bit of your problem is too much grass is getting trapped and not being allowed to fly free.

Just to let you know, I have a TC24D with a 54" MMM, side discharge.
I have never had a problem like your's. The deck blows the
clippings 7'-10' feet away. I do not need a grass catcher like I thought I would.
The key is Dealer Service. It is a very tricky mower deck to set-up and keep properly adjusted. I have had two service calls on it since I purchased it new, with the tractor, in June.
My dealer replaced many of the "clips" that fell off of my deck, like yours did, with Cotter Pins.
I read though the other emails on your problem, Adjusting the Deck Height and Angle my be the key. There are Cushion Rod adjustments, Lift Height Adjustments, Rear Spring Adj., ETC!!.
My suggestion is to have another dealer with an Experienced mechanic service it.

Hope your problem is resolved soon.

Just out of curiosity, how much does the 60" MMM deck cost? Is there a price difference between the cost of a side discharge and a rear discharge?

I am using an older C-25 60" Befco Finish Mower on the 3pt of a TC24D and am considering switching to a MMM. I like some of the features of the rear mounted deck, but we have a lot of trees and mowing with a MMM would be easier.

I don't remember what I paid for mine exactly, as I ended up pricing as a package. I believe it was around $2,500. Now this might be more since you already have your tractor, but if you buy it from the same dealer he might cut you some slack there and not jack the price up on. Couldn't tell you if there is a difference in the RD vs. side as the main reason I went to the NH dealer was I wanted a RD and if I couldn't get it I didn't want a NH. Man, sure glad I went as I fell in love w/ the tractor. I thought for sure I wanted a Kubota until I drove the NH. Not to I wouldn't have been happy with the Kubota, just that I'm thrilled with my blue beast. Interesting, last two times I've used the mower it has done a fantastic job and I loved the cut. Next time I mow the back and side yards I'll probably cut with the bh and then mow over again as it has been 2 weeks since I've mowed - trying to get at a good start on the pole barn.

Earlier in this thread the NH part numbers for the new 914A gator blades were listed. Can anyone tell me the NH part number for the new high lift blades for the 60" 914A? Thanks.

CMC,

I don't have the number for the 60". I do know at least from my dealer the Gator blade was less expensive. The Gator Blade will give you the same hi-lift along with mulching. I am very happy with my Gator Blades and they did solve my problem of my front wheels packing down the grass and not getting lifted back up. I have a post about them it is either under New Holland Operating or the general forum of operating.

best wishes in whatever you do.

I've asked the same question, and Corriher's told me the rear-discharge is $300 more than the side-discharge.
