I am thinking of making my hammermill an attachment to my Yanmar instead of using it as a stand alone unit. The unit is hard to horse around and bring to the locations I need to use it at. My thought was to fashon 3 point attachment points on the unit and hook it up to the pto which I can run at 1000 rpm. My biggest challenge is turning down the end of the shaft to 1 1/4 inch from 1 3/4 inch to accept my pto. One idea on how to do this was to use my angle grinder to rough it out close to diameter and then use a file or something to get it to finish specs. There is a pulley on the opposite side that could turn the shaft while working on it to keep it uniformly round. Any suggestions?
