Hi everyone,

Has anyone found a better way to get diesel out of the container and into the tractor? The bendy plastic nozzles have developed splits in them, and I can't seem to find the correct replacements like you used to be able to get. I tried a third party one, but that leaked. :(

I'd use a funnel but it's hard to see how much fuel is in the tank when doing so. If anyone has found a better solution (hand pump that doesn't drip?), please let me know.

Thanks,

Jon

I use a hard plastic funnel w/ long spout. Works great. NO mess :cool2: As for seeing, I only use 5 gal fuel cans and top off when my fuel gauge says approx 1/3 tank left. I never worry about spillage, it doesn't flow over ever....I can just see the top of the fuel in my tank and gauge registers ALMOST full. Worth piece of mind.

Our state Governor about 6 to 8 years ago passed a law that outlawed the sale of any gas/diesel cans that didn't have that plunger type fill spouts. No more externally vented cans. What a pia. To hold 5 gals over the loader for 5 mins while an internal vent is burbing the container gets old fast. Enter the TUFF JUG. This dumps 5 gals in a little over 38 seconds. You don't have to hold it on the rim of the tank neck just steady the jug on the fill neck till empty (38 seconds). And as far as overfilling, that does not exist with the tuff jug. NO SPILLAGE when full it stops dumping fuel. Just lift off the tank neck and a plunger shuts off flow. Pricey but well worth my money.

I set the can on the tractor, take the spout off, and use one of the hand pump/siphons like are sold to fill kerosene heaters. Pump it a couple times and make sure you don't overfill.

I had the same problem until I found a used 300 gal tank on a stand with a gas station type hose/nozzle....life is much better now:D

I have two 50 GL tanks with hand pumps. One gas and one diesel. They are on pallet skids. When empty just load min the PU with the FEL forks and go fill at the pump then unload at home. They are a max lift for my BX25. Fuel never gets contaminated and pumps through a 10 micron water absorbing spin on filter. Each one is a $350 investment, sure worth it.

I use a couple old plastic 5-gal jugs that predate current laws. They have that bendy corrugated pipe on the nozzle, which could come off in the tractor's fuel tank. I've been meaning to drive in a sheet metal screw to prevent that possibility but I'm always in a hurry when it occurs to me.

In any event, the politicians that inflicted the current generation of tanks and nozzles on us should be punished, preferably by forced labor in a fuel yard for a period equal to their time in office.

Set jug on fender, take useless nozzle off it, take this siphon hose and place little ball check valve in jug, other end in tractor tank, jiggle hose up and down a few times to prime, walk away, check oil, etc.., empties 5 gallons in a minute or two
