Has anyone taken delivery of a 4010?

Not sure you shot any holes in anything bigpete, my armour seems intact, I think you better readjust those sights.
It is probably terrorist or maybe Kubota operatives are infiltrating the JD mower assembly line and substituting metric hardware. Could this be the answer to the loose wheels bolt phenomena?
TQM, yes, lot's of companies use it, they give it the wink and a nod but they do not take it to heart and live it. I think the biggest improvement would be taking away all the Wall Street Journals so the executives could not see the stock price and then maybe they would stop reacting to daily trends and get on with buisness of long term profitability.
I would not count on brand loyality with tractors, not many farmers wear chaps, the recreational market where motorcyles thrive is a bit different from the industrial market.
I went by a JD dealer Sat by the way while out and about--no 4010s and no sales brochures on any of the smaller tractors. I did see a 4110 as I said way back in the Spring garden show but I do not remember it having a MMM installed. If you recall I said it was a very nice looking machine, new plastic hood though and I was not entirely enthusiastic with that but could be OK.
See ya, time to go to work and listen to all the TQM jabber that management likes to hear about, to bad none of it is actually put in practice. J

Tres,

Wow, make sure you take at least one aspriin each day and cut out that caffeine....I'm not shooting holes in anything except that wild-eyed, far-fetched, uninformed notion that JD's inventory problem is based in a lack of commitment to Demming's teachings. That is your assertion, is it not? /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Actually, I'm not going to "shoot" at that one anymore becuase it's a phantom notion, a "Phooka," if you will. Akin to your Kubota terrorist muse.

I suppose you have a copy of Deere's marketing plan and strategic operations objectives which is where you are getting your "information" on JD's milquetoast, pantywaste commitment to quality. Couldn't be crystals of Draino dissolving in goat urine on the cover of a dog-eared 1999 JD 400 series brochure could it? Maybe you've divined it with some other scientific research metthod or good, old-fashioned industrial espionage.

We agree on all the other stuff, and there are highlights in your cacauphonous babble. Enjoy your posts....

May your well run clear, your nose run little, and a cool breeze always shift your skirts in private. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

John,

It's already a win-win, as far as I'm concerned. The banter is good and my triple-raven friend is on the same page...he's just having a hard time agreeing with me on the wrong side of the tracks /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif. Plus, I'm really, really thinking about a Massey these days (well, today, anyway....)

More later, I'm sure....

So then, if I told you I was "Agent Orange" of the Kubota Secret Society and that I have actually slipped into the John Deere facility and switched out their hardware for metric rejects--nah.
bigpete, it is not conjecture, talk is cheap, put some product in the market place where ya mouth is /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif--err--in your garage--so don't need a JD marketing plan to know what it is--same as it has always been which is where we began all this so--Big John III, I leave y'all be for now while bigpete licks his wounds /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif and regroups -- I read all them books too bigpete -- maybe I do need an asprin /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif . Y'all have a nice night, I have some metric hardware to dispose of /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif . Too do loo. J

Wounds? I never saw or felt battle. Methinks I have just had a friendly conversation with fellow enthusiast. Somehwere in there you should have picked up that we're all concerened for quality, whether its lug nuts flying from a few JD wheels, leaky dealer prep on a few Kubotas, a pesky geometry problem with a 3-point, or a sub-compact careening out of control because of a steering cylinder recall.

Enjoy yourself in the literal sense, J

Your newest buddy,

Come on, Pete. Just buy a Kubota and TresCrowes will agree with anything you say! right now you guys are saying exactly the same thing and he thinks he's wounded you. You could wish him a good day or happy birthday and he'd argue with you and claim victory /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif !

Just give him a hug and be done with it. I can feel the love /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif.

p.s., Not all of us BX owners smell blood in every post.

I can see the only way to settle this is for you both to get yourselves new Blue tractors.

I was not going to aggravate folks down here on this thread anymore, especially my bud bigpete /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif !!!!!! ---but-----yesterday while going to Lowes I passed the JD dealer I rarely go by---he had a 4010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. He also had a 4110 and a 4115! They were equipped with the 410 loader, no belly mower mounted but they ususally don't put those on till the customer says to. Well--I got good news and bad news. Sorry, but I did not like the 4010 at all and the more I looked at it the less I liked it. Now, let me say up front that this does not go for the 4110 or 4115. No machine is perfect and it is the balance of plus and minus and a persons preference that sum the total for a positive or a negative overall. OK, what did I not like. The plastic floorboard to begin with--it is plastic, not plastic or rubber on metal but plastic---PLASTIC. OK, next, unless the tires mounted were special purpose R4 tires for a customer--if those are the R4's that will be mounted for anyone wanting R4 tires----they blow. Yep, they are very narrow and in fact the front tire is about half the WIDTH of my 2410 or BX tire (BX not R4 however). I measured the tire as being 4 inches wide and unlike the typical R4 that has a double overlapping chevron bar the front tire was an odd v shaped single bar. No--it was not an R1. The tires seemed way to narrow to support the 410 loader at capacity and would be to narrow to float the tractor on soft ground while mowing. The 4010 did have sturdy metal fenders, a fully plastic hood and aft cowl (so do Kubota and NH -- plastic aft cowl). The front axle looked flimsy compared to what I have been accustomed on my Kubotas but it is probably because JD does not use the bevel gear arrangement in the same manner Kubota does. It did have a folding ROP, the 3-point was slightly larger than the BX 3-point. The tractor sat higher and more narrow than the BX--good or bad as you decide. Ergonomics were a bit funny but I am sure I could get used to them and then I would think my Kubota had funny ergos. The fit and finish was not what I expected either.
Now, the 4110 and 4115 are similar but they had normal R4 tires fitted, metal floorbard with a plastic or rubber cover it seemed, same nice folding ROP, same plastic hood arrangement, nice sturdy metal fenders and the same slightly industrial fit and finish. The 4115 had an odd cantilevered rear axle output--not sure what to think of that. Overall I could see myself on a 4110 or 4115, I will pass on the 4010, I think the NHTC18 and BX are a better bet for a mini tractor, sub compact or whatever y'all wish to call them. The BX has more power and a slicker design, the NHTC18 just is a happy little machine. These are my opinions, based on my values and I reserve the right to change my mind at any time and as you know I am not TPC. I took some pics so I will show them latter if I get the film back before everyone shoots me /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif .
Oh, the 4210 and larger were very sturdy looking, metal floorboards, very nice fit and finish, same plastic hood and yuk--plastic fenders, 3-point to pull a battle ship with. These were nice looking tractors and the X90 series stuff there was quite impressive as well. J
