As a Mahindra owner and past blogger, I find in interesting what color is #1 and what color is best. Back in the early 1970s, while in high school, I saw my first Kubota. Almost 40 years later now, and Kubotas are everywhere. I fell in love with tractors on my Grandpa's farm.

He had a D model John Deere.

I was surprised to see a Massey Harris sitting by the D one year. I asked why and was told it was a good buy.

When I think back to visiting Grandpa on the farm............I always think about that D model.:licking: Someday I want to rebuild a D model, just like Grandpa's. My first tractor, I thought, would be a MF. Don't ask me why:confused2:, but I kept thanking MF. But it turned out to be a used (built in the mid 1970s) Ford 3055, built in England for export to France. So my first tractor, a
BLUE one, came from England, yet I could go to the local New Holland dealer and buy any part I needed. Thanks to established dealer networks. Now I wish I had not sold it.
My first new tractor was a Mahindra. I bought a Mahindra 6520 4WD for the quality, price, and
service from the dealer. In the 7 years I have owned tractors, I have found that dealer service is number one in my book on keeping a tractor running
AND buying new equipment. Any tractor that is worked eventually needs parts. Now today, I can make a phone call and have a part overnighted (in the contiental US) to me or my local dealer. Someday Mahindra's name will be wider known, like Kubota is now. It takes time. John Deere has had a lot of time. I am sure their executives are watching Mahindra very, very close.

I now have almost 600 hours in a little over three years on my Mahindra. That is around 3.8 hours a week. For folks with a full time job away from home, that is a lot of hours. I would put my Mahindra's quality against any other 60-70 hp tractor. But having a tractor is more than money and breakdowns and parts and financing, it is about what you remember.

That Johnny Popper sound

is a strong memory to a lot of folks, me included.
Buying a tractor is a major expense and good financing is key to a purchase. Someday, I may buy another new tractor and will check every color before buying. My blood runs Mahindra
RED, but my first memories of tractors are
GREEN.
So buy what your want for it's feel, it's price, it's financing, or just buy it for reliving memories and just what fits you.
