Has Mahindra Passed Deere in sales?

Was that a true 4WD you're talking about or a MFWD? There may be some parts of the axle made in china but the entire assembly as far as shafts, gears etc are done in the US I'm in the plant that builds the 7000-9000 series tractors and the only ones that I see coming complete from oversees are the ZF and Dana's in the smaller 7's. (as a whole there are parts from all over the world in all JD's these days and someof them are better than what's made here)
Back to the original post, there are a lot of sub 90 hp units in the world and that is definetley not JD's stronghold so I could see that Mahindra or even Kubota could sell more units worldwide than deere.
And to the comment about the Athens plant running full bore, they all are. We are at the highest production levels ever here in Waterloo

Just went down to my local dealer....No American made JD's down there. 5045's from India with carrero front ends. 5101e hecho en Mexico with DANA WUXI MFWD axle with big MADE IN CHINA on the tag. and various 7000 series made in Germany. Its a large regional dealer with multiple outlets and all seem to have very similar inventory.

Just a bit off topic folks; nevertheless, an interesting observation here in Southern Oregon. I have seen several used Kubotas, and one used Mahindra tractor at the local John Deere dealer. My guess is they might have been traded in on new green tractors.

However, I've not seen one John Deere tractor sitting at the Mahindra dealer's lot.

Dave,
Have You noticed that most of the People on TBN that are always putting Mahindra down are Kubota and Deere Owners? You and I don't trash the Machines they own. It seems They have a fear of Mahindra or anything new. As far as I know there is nothing or Anyone on this Earth that is Perfect. I have run Caterpillar Equipment that cost more than a Million Dollars and they break down. I have a allis-Chalmers B and a Ford 8n and My Mahindra. I don't think they are perfect. I wish the Mods on here would delete those spiteful Posts.

As a Mahindra owner and past blogger, I find in interesting what color is #1 and what color is best. Back in the early 1970s, while in high school, I saw my first Kubota. Almost 40 years later now, and Kubotas are everywhere. I fell in love with tractors on my Grandpa's farm.:) He had a D model John Deere. I was surprised to see a Massey Harris sitting by the D one year. I asked why and was told it was a good buy.;) When I think back to visiting Grandpa on the farm............I always think about that D model.:licking: Someday I want to rebuild a D model, just like Grandpa's. My first tractor, I thought, would be a MF. Don't ask me why:confused2:, but I kept thanking MF. But it turned out to be a used (built in the mid 1970s) Ford 3055, built in England for export to France. So my first tractor, a BLUE one, came from England, yet I could go to the local New Holland dealer and buy any part I needed. Thanks to established dealer networks. Now I wish I had not sold it.:(

My first new tractor was a Mahindra. I bought a Mahindra 6520 4WD for the quality, price, and service from the dealer. In the 7 years I have owned tractors, I have found that dealer service is number one in my book on keeping a tractor running AND buying new equipment. Any tractor that is worked eventually needs parts. Now today, I can make a phone call and have a part overnighted (in the contiental US) to me or my local dealer. Someday Mahindra's name will be wider known, like Kubota is now. It takes time. John Deere has had a lot of time. I am sure their executives are watching Mahindra very, very close.;) I now have almost 600 hours in a little over three years on my Mahindra. That is around 3.8 hours a week. For folks with a full time job away from home, that is a lot of hours. I would put my Mahindra's quality against any other 60-70 hp tractor. But having a tractor is more than money and breakdowns and parts and financing, it is about what you remember.:D That Johnny Popper sound:cool: is a strong memory to a lot of folks, me included.

Buying a tractor is a major expense and good financing is key to a purchase. Someday, I may buy another new tractor and will check every color before buying. My blood runs Mahindra RED, but my first memories of tractors are GREEN.

So buy what your want for it's feel, it's price, it's financing, or just buy it for reliving memories and just what fits you.
hugs, Brandi

Messick, I found it interesting that once the numbers are shown, you are not willing to debate this as you have mentioned above. You taunted and mocked for numbers, now you don't care.

No. I'm actually busy selling tractors rather than checking TBN every day .

Do you have a source for your 165,633 in India alone? The annual stock holders report shows just over 120,000 (up from 99,000 the prior year) globaly. I tend to trust whats in their annual reports.

"
For the financial year ending on March, 2009, your
Company recorded sales of 120,202 tractors as against

99,042 tractors sold in the previous year. This included
domestic tractor sales of 113,269 tractors as compared

to domestic sales of 90,509 tractors in the previous year
"

Do you have a source for your AEM estimates? All the press releases I've seen are for 2WD, over 40Hp, etc, etc. They exclude the biggest parts of the compact tractor busienss.

Like I said, lets not speculate here unless we have to.

Contact someone at the executive level at Kubota USA. They will have the AEM numbers for Kubota nationwide. As for my sources, I gave them already, so I am not speculating about the total market nor about Mahindra's sales.

I think it is probably more profitable for both of us to just keep selling tractors, we are loading trucks right now for today's deliveries, but you need to know my numbers are solid. I no longer care if you come up with any for Kubota, so I'll let you off the hook on that if you just play nice.:)

I have a good handle on what Kubota sold last year, but it is not a dead solid number so I won't post it. I will say it was a bunch of tractors. You guys do a good job, so don't let Mahindra worry you. :D

I worked in rural India several monts last year. It was evident that Mahindra outnumbered all other tractor brands combined. Most Mahindra models for domestic market are 2WD bare bones machines. Mahindra tractors are popular in India because they have a reputation of taking abuse without breaking down.
