I'm still waiting for a number....?

I'm still waiting for numbers from Messick, but as they probably are not forthcoming. Here is some info from an April Mahindra press release with info concerning the 12 month fiscal year ending March 31, 2010:

I saw Mahindra 20 years ago in W. Africa.

Someone asked if you could still get a fuel pump for a mahindra 20 years from now. My father and I were were some of the first Mahindra dealers outside of the state of Texas in 1987...my answer is yes. The fuel pumps were all bosch btw. All of the first load of tractors he sold are still running as far as I know, and that includes one that was rebuilt after the engine blew when the owner left the oil plug loose in the oil pan and even put a hole in the block. Block was repaired and I rebuilt it.

The early models were one for one copies of the IH tractors. High quality control and excellent fit and finish were hallmarks early on.

As far as India goes...John Deere has been concerned obviously since their cooperative manufacturing agreement with Larson and Toubro in India has made their 5xx3 series their most popular sellers in the US of their middle line up.

Coincidentally, last time I looked a a John Deere 4wd larger tractor, the front axle had stamped on it Made In China.

Was that a true 4WD you're talking about or a MFWD? There may be some parts of the axle made in china but the entire assembly as far as shafts, gears etc are done in the US I'm in the plant that builds the 7000-9000 series tractors and the only ones that I see coming complete from oversees are the ZF and Dana's in the smaller 7's. (as a whole there are parts from all over the world in all JD's these days and someof them are better than what's made here)
Back to the original post, there are a lot of sub 90 hp units in the world and that is definetley not JD's stronghold so I could see that Mahindra or even Kubota could sell more units worldwide than deere.
And to the comment about the Athens plant running full bore, they all are. We are at the highest production levels ever here in Waterloo

I have no information on them other than I see very few of them in this area, and the dealerships only last a very short time here before they shut their doors

We got the first Mahindra dealership in our area just a few weeks ago. Big new building sitting on about 10 acre lot with lots of new tractors sitting around. Most of them look like cut's. I'll stop over and take a closer look one of these days.

Coming back through Paris TN today I stopped by Wells Tractor company, the local Mahindra dealer due to all of the noise this tread is creating about them now ruling the earth in tractor sales.

They had 7 new ones from the 2816 to the 6530 and was impressive compared when I last looked at the line 20 years ago.

The boomer 8N was the shocker because I did not know they existed. I thought it was a red belly Ford loaded on the trailer with two Mahindras.

These Indian companies apparently all have the same marketing strategy....

Hi, I am a new member. TAFE or to give it its full name, is Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited is a India based tractor major. With an annual production and sale of 100.000 tractors , it is the third largest tractor manufacturer in the world. It has not been absorbed by AGCO. AGCO, who are its colloborators, and TAFE work together in global markets , leveraging individual strengths as appropriate to specific markets to tap the potential in each market.TAFE produces the 2600 range for AGCO under the Massey Ferguson brand for sale by AGCO through its distribution channels.

I'm guessing the top three must be Mahindra, Punjab, and TAFE. With worldwide yearly sales exceeding 400,000 units. :)

I did not think it advances the conversation...? Kubota is not as forth comming about numbers are some other companies, you won't find anything in their stock reports. Me speculating is not any better than what Mahindra is doing in these advertisments. We all know their market share is right about 50%, but the AEM does not report the numbers for the compact market publicly.

I've said this before, but its an appropriate time. I'm not a cheerleader. Kubota is a drop in the bucket compared to the likes of Agco, CNH, Deere, etc. Just posting cause I was prompted.

Neil,
I'm not buying that answer. You insisted on numbers, so obviously you felt it would advance the conversaion at that time. So I dug them up.

It's only fair that you obtain and post yours. To do otherwise is a little like losing the race, then saying "I wasn't racing". :D

Getting exact numbers from the competition is difficult. AEM gives us some market share info, UCC filings can be mined for data, etc, but it is an inexact science as far as what the other guys are doing. But Kubota knows what they sold in 2009 and you are a large and prominent dealer, so that info should be available.

I hate to push the point, but you mentioned that Mahindra's worldwide sales were "peanuts", then you taunted us for numbers. So, let's put up what you have or pull your horns in a little. :) Either way is fine by me.
