HAS THE COST OF GAS CHANGED THEY WAY YOU MOW?

PinRidge:

Horses go much farther than diesel anytime. Besides, if you spill diesel on the lawn, it kills the grass.

If a horse "spills" on the lawn, it makes it greener. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am mowing as often as I always have. With all the rain and fertilizer I have put on I am mowing twice a week. The only difference is I use to mow the road side along our field to the property line every time I mowed the lawn and now I am mowing it about every 4th mow. As for the rest of our roadsides I will probably only mow them once this year instead of the 3 times I mowed them last year. We have decded to bale the pasture instead of mowing it this year.

Yes , I have changed from my usual of mowing the whole property every time I mow to just mowing the parts that I have fertilized and then catching the rest on the next mowing...(which saves 30min.or so)

I'm thinking of plowing part of the skipped area for pumpkins or something to take up space therefore reducing mowing area (not very big 30-40 x 60?)

But I have been mowing about every 5-6days ,though the grass has seemed to slow down a little, Guess its time for more fertilizer /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If mowing in forward uses fuel, wouldn't mowing in reverse save gas. Have you tried that Gatorboy.

If it needs to be cut I cut it, cost of gas hasn't changed that. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That's right, if you gotta cut it you gotta cut it. Same way if you need to go somewhere, fill 'er up. I even put some in drums for hurricane season coming up, smooth $300 spent. Gotta have it for the generators though. I'm expecting another Katrina.
