My wife has two Jack Russels; the male is a bit on the dim side but the female is a hunting and killing machine! She has killed countless rats, mice, moles, snakes, rabbits, squirrels, blue jays; once she killed a possum bigger than she is. She knows both the words "rat" and "squirrel". The only downside is, anything that breathes that she can catch is a varmint and a goner - including (but not limited to) chickens and other livestock. Have to keep the dogs fenced at all times.
