Have you ever broken the transmission fan on your BX? No or yes will work.

Yes, running a brush hog in the woods with no mmm and no skid plate. I didn't trash it but damaged some of the fins. Fortunately replacing it wasn't as much of a nightmare as I'd read. It was a BX2200.

No. BX2660 and I normally just leave the MMM on for the work around the house.

No- on 2 BX's. Used mostly for mowing and snowblowing, so lower risk machines.

No, but installed BroTek rear and mid plates before use.

Yes and probably the first time I drove it. I bought my BX24 used and the day it was delivered I had to go play in my overgrown field. I joined this list and learned of the vulnerability of the fan and ordered a skid plate before I even discovered that I had broken the fan. Yes, I know I did it because I was able to go out in my field and find the broken blades. On the BX24 and BX25 it is a huge job to replace that fan, much harder than on a BX23. If you ever plan on driving over any scrub brush a skid plate is good insurance.

Yes, replaced and immediately made skid plate, no more problem.

I NOW PERSONALLY KNOW SOMEONE THAT HAS BROKEN THEIR FAN.:)

Not yet but. This our 2nd BX one was a 2200 with 1800 hours and now a 2670 with 25 hours. We are clearing some old fence rows so this is a good place to do damage to a fan.

Yes:smiley_aafz:
And this was after I installed Kubota's so called "fan protector".
I had bush hogged 5 of 7 acres that had not been touched in 50 years. Kept worrying about the hydro fan and always wondering when I would break it. I put the "fan protector" on in the third year of my project, and a stick went between the slots in the plate and wiped all the blades on the hydro fan out.
Kubota dealer replaced it for $261. The mechanic that did the work still throws rocks at me when he sees me. :D
