Re: Have you had warranty issues? Don\'t Buy John Deere

These comments are directed to and Mark (RaT). I know you guys followed my thread on the air conditioning problems I had on my 5030 HSTC. I modified the shrouding around the radiator/evaporator/oil cooler to cause more air to flow through the units before going through the radiator. Actually, before I added the shrouds, there was no shrouding whatsoever from the radiator forward to the oil cooler.

I am pretty sure I tested the new setup pretty well, using the tractor for running 2nd cut hay in high 80's to low 90's with high humidity. The cab now stays relatively cool, at least it's more comfortable than sitting in a glass enclosed oven like it seemed like before. It still dosen't cool like my John Deere does, but the Deere has a darker tint on the glass and the Kubota has alot more glass area than the Deere.

I never told my dealer or for that matter I never contacted Kubota and explained what I did. Do you guys think I should? If so, should I go through my dealer or contact Kubota direct? Do you think Kubota would void my warranty for the modifications? This unit was not cheap by any means and I've had zero problems with it other than the ac. The 5030 I purchased was the 23rd unit assembled (if i'm reading the serial number right) . I wonder if they have already addressed the problem or not?

Not to make fun of anyone /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif but someone here might have seen the thread about the guy who drained his engine oil--suspposedly--- and then ran the engine to get some more out. So, soon we will see another thread like--- My Kubota Broke and Kubota Will Not Cover It /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Well, I would not either. Anything can be broken and some people know how to do it /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif and Kubota, or JD or whoever does not have the responsibility for covering damage due to misuse, neglect, idiocy or acts of God. That they often do is a result of Goodwill and it should not be expected.

Rat, I know why this thread is entitled the way it is, and my comment was a JOKE. That's why I added a /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Have you had warranty issues? Don\'t Buy John Deere

Who knows Daryl, but after talking with my dealer, the general consensus regarding the likelyhood of having a serious issue with a tractor decreases significantly after the tractor gets some time on it. Namely, the engine and transmission. In your case, the worst scenario could be what, more hot air flowing to the engine? If that were the case, then surely the temp gauge would warn you. In fact, doesn't the fancy computer setup shut it down and give you the procedure to restart? I've not really experimented with mine, I use the hour, trip time and PTO speed displays routinely. My attitude is do what needs to be done in order for it to do what you need it to do within reason. If your rear axle snaps off and they won't warranty the repair because of the shrouding you installed, it would be time to find another brand. Rat

Re: Have you had warranty issues? Don\'t Buy John Deere

Every MFG has Material defect and workmanship problems. Just what is an acceptable level. 5% 2% 1% or less. Less than 5% is acceptable and 2% is the Goal. I'm not saying catastrophic failure but some type of problem on a unit covered by a warranty.
Because there are 50% more Kubota's in the population that have been and are being sold, there will be more incidents by number of Kubota's problems than Deere problems. This elementary because Kubota out sells Deere in CUT's. Both are high quality products. Any time a new model introduced, there can be some unforeseen problems but not what it was like 20 years ago. 20 Years ago an new product would stay in the prototype stage for 4-5 times of what a product does now and still a higher incidence of failure was acceptable back then. Anyone that says a MFG has no problems is either not being truthful or that MFG does not have any sales.

rouge, I agree sensorship can be bad. But in this case I have to agree with Rat. I dont believe I have the right to come on here and slander Kubota or you. If I have a complaint that is substantiated then you have a diffrent story.
As an example; If you look in the NewHolland owners thread there are several people who have had loader joysticks snapped off, a justafiable complaint about a defect in the way the part was engineered. That thread was not deleted.

Now if Muhammed was called by one of the NewHolland advertisers threatening to pull his advertising and in turn deleted the thread he would not be in business very long. I for one think the people on this forum are much smarter than that.

Re: Have you had warranty issues? Don\'t Buy John Deere

It's not slander if it's true. But now we will never know if it was true or not. Besides, I thought it was deleted due to the responses the post got rather than the statement the post began with. Anyway, I agree that if there is a grossly unsubstantiated claim, deletetion is a viable option.
