Nice looking truck. Hand calc a tank, mine reads about 0.5 mpg to high on the computer.

I have never met an MPG gauge that was accurate AND/or had one that read conservative. Most will read about 1 MPG to high. Speedo's usually 1 to 5 % high. Cheat Cheat.

Thanks everyone for contributing your thoughts and helping me decide what truck to buy. Despite getting into a bit of a 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 and even 1 ton rhetoric, there was also a lot of good information shared. My next truck purchase will hopefully be after retirement. At that point my driving profile may change to more miles towing and less driving kids to soccer tournaments, in which case a heavier truck would may make more sense - especially if the drivetrain by that point is a diesel generator over electric wheel motors.

Been checking this on a number of vehicles and never once were they on or pessimistic*. It varies by tank but can be up to 20% less. If you are not logging every fill and comparing before you reset the trip enter, youæ±*e not getting the true picture.

We found out one has a dealer mode that allows you to correct it, have not found that for the Tahoe.

* at work our Chevy Cruze Turbodiesels regularly showed less than actual. Only vehicles that has happened.

The computers on my previous vehicles have been fairly accurate on MPG. Might be optimistic one fill, pessimistic on another - but looking over multiple fills, my Jeep's computer was real close to hand calculations, as was my previous Mustang.

I consider the fuel use meter reliable on the F-150, if the trip computer is set to "0" after filling up "kick out", the gas station pump will put almost exactly the same amount in to fill it back up to kick out when filling up again.

mopardude318 - Not sure why you're limited to a 3500 dually for a 25 ft dual wheel flat deck trailer to haul your M7060 with loader, box blade and + 1 extra implement. While I certainly wouldn't recommend an F-150 for this, I'd think a 1-ton single rear wheel truck would do fine. Most have around 4,000 pounds of payload so should handle the tongue weight. If you're planning on bumper pull, and are not planning on a weight distribution system than the F-350 may be your only legal option as I think GM and Ram still require weight distribution if you're towing any real weight.

Of course - if you have no reason not to get the dually, it can only handle it better!

Concerning the WDH: My 2015 Ram 2500, 4WD, CC, diesel is rated for 17.2k# on the bumper with no WDH. I believe this is the max weight for towing of any type also. 2017 Ram 3500 is max rated at 31.2k# towing per Ram web site.

Your hitch may be rated for it. However, Ram still requires that you use WD above 5000/500

"If the gross trailer weight is 5,000 lbs (2 267 kg) or
more, it is mandatory to use a weight-distributing
hitch to ensure stable handling of your vehicle. If
you use a standard weight-carrying hitch, you could
lose control of your vehicle and cause a collision."

Thanks for correcting me. I was going off a Chrysler brochure which is apparently misleading. My page # is 654. I use a Sway Pro 1500 WDH for any heavy towing as the ride is better- and now legal :)
