We sold our gas motor home and got a used 32' fifth wheel and used diesel pickup after 4 years pulling a car behind our motor home for 3 winters going to Texas. loved being able to pull in to WalMart's and parking for the night with a warm camper but the fifthwheel handles the wind so much better.

Drew when you are looking for a truck to pull a 5th wheel RV, try to stick to a long bed model. A short bed , a truck with four doors or an extended cab, will not let you make sharp turns while backing or pulling forward without damaging your truck and trailer. You can get by this with a sliding 5th wheel hitch, but they are pricier. I have seen a lot of trucks with the back window broke out, body damage and damage to their RV so don't take this lightly.

thanks, you bet, 8 foot bed. Seems most of the duallies have the longer beds, but I'm making sure to look for it.

pretty snazzy Ron. Not sure how practical the custom jobs would be at Home Depot...they look like they are just waiting for a tow truck winch to be installed.
Also I wonder how quiet the larger trucks are inside. The 1500 series are I'm sure the quietest, then the 250/350 versions, but after that, I'm not sure.

At the moment, there is just one of me. I can live with something much smaller...in fact, I first started looking around for something to tow with my Suburban.9400 pounds, which limited me to around 30 feet. I really wanted a longer Airstream trailer. I wonder how they are doing in the must have five slides era...
No slides means a whole lot of things that don't break, and a superior sealing of the exterior. But we all want it bigger...

They are quiet and they ride pretty good for a truck that can tow 15,000 lbs.
