Well I'd rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy or a Dodge.

Amen, Richard! I've got a 99 F-250 PSD and the only thing that might make me give it up is a 2003.25 F-350 CC SRW Lariat 6.0L PSD /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif.

Although I did drive a friend's Duramax the other day and it wasn't half bad /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif. But I'll still be buying Ford! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

My 2000 F-150 has not been back to the dealership even once, with 44,000 miles on the odometer. Solid as a rock and will pull a freight train since it has the Triton engine. Wouldn't trade it for a boatload of Chevys or Rams. Also have to put in a plug for my old '48 8N. She still works hard, purrs like a kitten and starts up first time every time./w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Those Fords won't even run downhill.

In my teens and early 20's I was a dedicated Chevy man. I even worked at a GM dealership as a jockey and prepper (best summer job ever).

Now, I buy based on what I need, availibility, and what I can afford. Dodge, Chevy, Ford, whatever - they all have their strong points.

However, when someone prods me about my choice of vehicles, I like to humor them and come to its defense while shooting down their own. Not to start arguments, but in good fun - it's what's expected.

I drive a Ford Ranger. Not the heftiest of pick-up trucks that's for sure, but it does what I ask of it.

We're up at our hunting and fishing camp in the remote wilderness. Not 5 years ago did we require a bush plane to get here. Now, with logging roads, it's a 30 mile, 1.5 hour trip on dirt roads. Here's what makes it interesting, the logging company has summer roads and winter roads. It is quite advisable to stay of the winter roads during the summer as they usually develop into large mud bogs. So this guy shows up at our cabin (surprising to say the least) with his fiance. How he found our cabin is a mystery. He told us that his truck was stuck and he needed help to get it out. We hopped into my Ranger and someone else followed on the ATV. We drove for about 2 miles before we got to his vehicle - a 4WD Sierra 1500. It was sitting on its floor pans with the 4 wheels suspended nicely in the air. He was in a skidder trail in which silt from the spring thaw had filled the tire tracks. We pulled him out with my (much lighter) Ranger. He had supper with us and spent the night. Two weeks later he drops by my parent's place and gives my dad a brand new tow rope to give to me as a gift for geting him out.

Deer hunting in northern Pennsylvania (Elk County, for those interested). A friend of ours decides to park his Blazer down near the action - less far to walk don't you know. He comes back to his truck at lunch time to grab a bite and notices that the once-frozen ground of the early morning was now a soppy mess. Ranger Paul to the rescue.

I guess my father didn't remember the last incident very well because he duplicated the problem 2 years later with his Blazer. He doesn't bug me about my Ford anymore.

Soooo, when someone has a comment about my Ford, I tell them of these three incidents and finish up with "Yup, it's true - like a rock." /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hmmm, I'd rather drive a Yugo than push anything. Just lazy I guess./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

My '99 F-250 has 89,000 miles on it and the only time it has been back to a Ford lot was when I had the large trailer towing mirrors added. Couldn't ask for any better service from a vehicle. /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif

Hey John...

You better get yourself a "good pair" of walking shoes then... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I drive a 96 F150. 145k on it, and it has never been in the shop but for tires and alignments. I've replaced the alternator, battery, starter (my fault), and smog pump (bad bearing). Still the original exhaust system, front to back. Of course, that's because I'm to lazy to fix the crack in the header. It isn't bad, but needs replaced.

Pulled in to my usual space at work, but an unusual vehicle was next to me. Guy bought a 2003(2?) F350, 4wd, dually, crewcab, lariat, long bed, diesel. Nice. Expensive, but nice. Needs a gear shift, rather than a gear selector, but nothing's perfect.

I want a new truck, F250, diesel, xlt, super cab, long bed, but either the Kubota or garage need paid off first, and I haven't even started the garage.

Fishman, you make a very good point. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif I hadn't heard that comeback before.

Scott,

It's your delivery that needed work.

I bet it would have been funnier if you started with the topic: Ford considering new feature

Then say something like...I heard the engineers at Ford have been fielding requests from the public. They are considering designing a Heated Tailgate, to help keep the hands warm of the people pushing them.
