I bet if the truth was known you probably have 2 Chevy trucks and they both are Kubota Orange with hydro transmissons. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Now, I buy based on what I need, availibility, and what I can afford. Dodge, Chevy, Ford, whatever - they all have their strong points.

I chose my 2001 Silverado HD over the F-250 for a very technical reason understood only by true afficionados: The Silverado would fit in the underground parking garage at work, while the F-250 didn't! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

New Fords at the dealer would be about all you could put a heated tailgate on cause 90% of them are still on the road. The rest made it home.

That is a good point. I'm a consultant and one of my previous assignments was downtown in the state capital. Everything was parking garages and my F-250 was too tall. I had to pay $80/month and walk almost 20 blocks to find a decent parking lot. I was reimbursed for the fee but nothing could reimburse me for the long, uphill walks in the winter. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

But that's the only trouble parking I've ever had so I shouldn't complain.

I would like to try out one of the new GM Quadrasteer trucks to see how much easier it would be parking in a crowded mall. But it doesn't come in diesel so I won't even test drive one.

No, no, Egon, they've already drug'em all to the dealers' used car lots./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'm partial to Chevy, but driving a Ford 'cause I couldn't afford a new truck; had to buy a used one and couldn't find a used Chevy, owners keep'em, but lots of used Fords for sale, so I bought one./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Aah Bird. How disappointing! I've always held you in such high regard. This is worse news than when you said you were selling your tractor. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I wish they still made Jeep pickups. That was a man's truck! My old 78 J-10 (4X4 of course) was one of the best pickups I've ever had. Unfortunately, the rust was so bad I was afraid it was going to break in half going down the road, so I decided to get rid of it. I used it to bring home my new Craftsman lawn tractor a few years ago, and it was when I realized I had paid more the lawn tractor ($1400) than I did for the pickup ($1000) that I decided maybe it was time to get a newer truck. I'd like to find another one in decent shape and restore it someday. Meanwhile, my 89 Chevy 2WD is serving me well.

"First On Race Day"
"Fix Or Repair Daily"
"Found On Road Dead"
"F Over Rebuilt Dodge"

Or if there is one behind you and ya look in the rear view mirror it says "DROF", not to be confused with "ECNALUBMA". (my weird humor /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif).

Had the Dodge, Chevy, and Fords, loved and hated em all, but right now I am on a Ford kick /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I've always been a Chevy man and always had Chevy trucks. Have a 68' that I am restoring right now.

But in 98' I bought a Ford SuperCab w/8' bed that was coming off a corporate lease. It has all the bells and whistles and is a pleasure to drive. I have over 150k on it with no mechanical issues other than normal maintenance and normal wear & tear.

But don't try to move it anyplace where traction might be an issue. You'll be out of luck quick. It won't even move across my front lawn if there is dew on the grass.

I'll never make the error of buying a Ford truck again.
